I love these mics, I'm so happy I finally have them in my kit! I have been eyeing the Saramonic products, they look really nice at a price half that of comparable systems. I love that one receiver works for two transmitters, saving money, storage, and setup time. However, I was worried if they were too good to be true. But after using them, I wish I got them sooner! I got a UwMIC9 Receiver and Transmitter pack plus an add on UwMicXLR Transmitter. I wanted to test the sound quality as at their price, I wasn't sure what to expect. I put the units through as many tests as I could. I mic'd myself up with the Saramonic Lav, a Rodelink, and a Sennheiser G3. I recorded all three mics into a Zoom F4. Then I analyzed each track individually to see how they compared with one another and while each had their own 'sound', the Saramonic held it's own. I took the lav mic outside on the streets of NYC and did a similar test, with similar results. While I can hear a difference between the brands it was neither negative or positive, the Saramonic was just as usable and sounded perfect for video applications. While walking around NYC, the lav packs were easy enough to hide and I had no issues with interference. The resulting audio was clean and isolated from the loud surrounding. To further test the units, I plugged a Rode NTG3 into the Saramonic XLR Transmitter. I did some tests, then plugged the NTG3 directly into my F4 to get something to compare to. During playback (while not as easy to compare as the lavs since it's different recording) the Saramonic XLR Transmitter held it's own. There is obviously a difference in sound between a wireless signal and hardwired, but the wireless signal was totally clean and sounds nice. As for build quality, these things feel great. They have a nice weight to them and metal build which makes them feel professional. They're a good size, easy to hide. I've seen a lot of negative comments about the battery pack mechanism, but personally, I like the design. There's no doors or slider to reveal the batteries, its a holder that pops out of the side for quick access. I look forward to using this setup for years to come. I only wish I tried them myself sooner, I hesitated to purchase because of the pessimistic comments by others but I've worked professionally in TV & Film for almost a decade, I've made my own videos for almost two decades, and what I've learned is that all that matters is that the gear allows you to create something you otherwise wouldn't be able to, you use the gear the proper way, and it's affordable enough to actually buy it. This wireless kit allows me to record an extra person via a lav mic and by making my shotgun wireless, it opens up a world of run and gun shooting otherwise impossible. All this for less than the price of one wireless lav from another brand. The affordability of these units changes the whole way you film, as long as you use them correctly they'll allow you to capture audio that's clean and sounds professional. I'm very happy with these units! ... More

I was using 2 RODE Filmmaker wireless mics previously. I love RODE and loved these mics but the problem I kept having was the lavaliers kept going bad. RODE is awesome at fixing but it takes time to return your units and get them back. So I bouth these as a backup for the next time I had to send my RODE mics in to repair. WOW, I could not believe how good they sound, the quality of construction, and ease of use. I shoot with a Panasonic GH5 and there was no problems at all. I now use these as my primary mics and my RODE Filmaker kit as a backup. ... More

I wanted something that was affordable without taking a hard cut in quality. I'm very happy with these. They do what a lav system is supposed to do. I used them in the field for three different projects, then found a happy surprise in editing. While sound mixing the interviews, I actually had to take a moment and try to figure out which mic was the lav, and which was the boom... Of course after listening closely, it's possible to figure out, but talk about a sound mixer's dream, when the overall tone and feel of the lav turns out so similar to the boom... (which in these cases was a Rode NTG-3.) Most of my takes were clean. I noticed some transmitter pops while shooting multiple subjects walking down the hallway interior of an old motel. Maybe something in the walls, who knows. Whatever - overall, very pleased. Especially for that price tag! Things to NOTE: You may also need to purchase a stereo 1/8" to DUAL XLR cable. The transmitter only outputs in stereo 1/8", using L and R as ch1 and ch2, however the kit only includes a 1/8" to single XLR cable (which if used, would consolidate both lavs to one channel). BAD! TL;DR: These work great! A little history: I bought the first version of the UMIC 9 (1 Rx & 1 TX) with the yellow label back in May of 2019. The only issue I had was they lacked the ability to adjust the mic sensitivity; so, when a person got loud there was risk of clipping so I worked around it by assessing the speaker before assigning them a body pack as I had wired options. I bought the current version (Tx-XLR & 1 additional TX bodypack) black label in August 2021, then completed the kit with the UMIC 9 (1 Rx & 1 TX) in March 2022, which also came with a high-quality carry case. That said I have a bit of experience in using this system. I have had RF hits or dropouts but considering that it happened about three or four times for the entire three full days of shooting I'd say this work great. It's important to say that when I got the RF hits or dropouts, that I was about 150 feet from a cellular communications tower at a telecommunications substation and we were also on top of a submarine cable coming in from the ocean. I'd recommend this for anyone starting out. I do currently use a number of Shure wireless systems on a weekly basis, and I own four Phenyx Wireless systems so I'm familiar with other brands. Saramonic gives you everything to get started at a reasonable price by providing professional audio features. I'd also recommend that you take time to learn what all the settings mean and how/when to use them. In my experience, I found that some tend to brand equipment useless when the real issue is that they didn't know how to properly operate the equipment. Even though these units can be plug and play out of the box, the RF environment will dictate a lot of what you experience I gave four stars because there's always room for improvement. I hope this helps someone. ... More

I have an Azden ProXD 2.4ghz wireless coupled with a Rode Smart lav + mics and I needed something more reliable. The problem of dropouts has plagued my Azdens especially working in spaces with heavy wifi usage. I was looking to get either Senn G3s or the Sony UWPs but I was seeing a lot of good feedback from the Saramonics, so for its low prices I figured I'd give it a shot. I bought the single TX kit to test out and upon getting my unit I was pleasantly surprised on its build quality! Solid metal housing. Testing it with 3 lavs, it's own, the Rode smart lav+ and a cheap JK 044, I found its own lav to be quite good! So now I tested its battery life, at High Power on the TX it ran for under 3 hours, not exactly sure. I did further tests at low setting on the TX and it gave me exactly 4 hours and 53 minutes. And at low setting I was getting a good signal with no dropout at 32ft. This was the limit of space in my home and it could probably go farther. I was pleased with the results that I purchased a 2nd TX to complete my dual channel kit. ... More

They have there cons, like some time you have to run auto scan more them once to avoid other type of interference. Some time you get a over modulated radio sound if you don't pay attention. I use the g3s on set a lot and This product give you 95% of what the g3s give you at haft the price. I have use them with 3 different recorders and if your recorders have good pre amps you should have no problem with hissing at all. These wireless units are great. Only minor draw back is that they are heavy. Other than that they work as designed. Full rich sound. I've had no issues. I have seen some reviews from people complaining about a little RF interference , well change the channel. RF interference happens with the best wireless units out there. I know this because I am an audio engineer by trade and use multiple wireless units from different manufactures everyday in the professional environment. But when it comes to me spending my dollars I have to look for quality at a good price point. And I myself have purchased two of these units. One for a sit down video podcast and one for my personal use. The units work as they should and do a very good job. No regrets with this purchase. ... More

I work for a collegiate athletics program and we use this mic very heavily for different digital marketing projects. I love the sound quality, the distance in which the receiver works (we have had the mic about a football field away from the receiver and it worked fine) and the durability of the outer shell. The only shortcomings we have found in using the mic have been hyper specific to our situation, but I feel like they should be included in this review in case a future buyer is in a similar situation. One of the issues we have come across is the weight of the mic. We do a lot of mic'd up practices in which our athletes wear the mic as they participate in practice and we have found that the weight of the mic tends to pull practice shorts down. We have remedied this by making all of the athletes wear spandex shorts under their gear, but the weight of the pack would be an issue if not for this solution. Another issue that has come up during these mic'd up shoots is the mute button being on the face of the pack. We have had instances in which the mute button is hit mid drill and we lose any usable content until the drill stops. If your subject isn't as dynamic as ours, it shouldn't be an issue, but it is one to note. Overall, our experience with this gear has been really great as the metal structure has really taken all worry away from our mic being broken during a practice and the overall sound quality is great. ... This is crazy. I've used the Sony's these obviously are modeled on and to be honest aside from the lack of input gain on the transmitters, the cheap lav mics and the nasty battery tray this could be the same in every other way, bar the cost. They are nicely built. Battery life and range seem very similar. I've been using them for a month without a drop out. I'm tempted to swap out the lav mics for something nicer and the no input gain thing sucks but these minor complaints for the price.

I'm reading some reviews here and asking myself which Saramonic system they are using?. Mine has always worked great and I've been using it to do LIVE Video Streaming and a large variety of video projects since early 2016. My only real issue was the Lavalier Mics - and the cables that came with Mics - just couldn't handle the abuse after about 3 years. So I replaced the Lavalier Mics with a pair that I bought on Amazon for $30 - Yes, $30 for 2 Lavalier Mics. Been using them for years and the whole setup works great! It allows 2 people to be interviewed, each on their own channel (1 or 2). If this is your intention, I recommend buying a Stereo Y adapter to channel 1 + 2 in either XLR Male or 1/4 Mono Male (x2) depending on what you are doing (where the audio signal is being recorded). Or if you're simply recording to a camera or audio recorder with MiniMic Stereo connection, then that's all you'll need is regular MiniMic 3.5mm Stereo Male-to-Male cable. This company makes solid and excellent products + they have USA office and support what they sell. I had a receiver go bad after 3.5 years and they replaced it with a whole new KIT free of charge. Awesome company. Highly recommended. The product works great! ... More

I use the Saramonic Blink 500 for work and it has not been the most reliable. It was then I found that it was on the same frequency as wifi and Bluetooth. For my personal projects, I wanted something better built and hopefully that was on a different bandwidth. I decided to give this a go. I have used it a handful of times and it has worked well. I paired it with a Nikon Z6II. The noise floor is around -50db. I usually add a compressor in post and the sound is good for my needs. I use these to make high end YouTube videos. The case is all metal. Some reviewers have complained about the batteries. I bought 2700ma rechargeable batteries. I used them for three hours and the battery indicator never moved from full. I would recommend buying high end batteries for these if you plan to shoot all day. They shouldn't give you an issue. The only tricky think I found is when you want to pair them to a new channel, you have press the button on the Tx and the Rx at the same time. I didn't understand this at first. Some have also mentioned about the belt clip falling off easily. I had quite the time getting the clip on the pack and was very stable for my talent to wear, so I don't see that being an issue. So far I'm happy with the product and I would recommend it. ... More

This system works great for users that understand the limitations and need a alternative to the much more pricey options. While using this system I've had issues with Audio cutting out briefly due to signal range while indoors. Overall I am still pleased with the build of this system. I use these with the Hosa Technology Pro Stereo Breakout Cable (3.5mm Stereo Mini to Dual 3-Pin XLR Male). This allows you to separate the stereo signal output into 2 separate XLR outputs for recording.

Before you get all bent out of shape. These Mics do sound better than my Sennheisers. Why? Senns are made with High Frequency Roll Off. BUT! If you have excellent sound from your cameras. Then it just sounds muddy and overly bass. However! Using these Mics the sound is properly balanced with my gear. No need to have to use a Mixer or post. Using the Senns makes my clients say. Wow - to low. Using the Saramonics simultaneously gives the client what they want. Do not think all is bliss. The instructions Suck - Big Time. Never mentions that you have to activate the power for the 2nd Mic set in the Master. AND! The power consumption is GROSS! Even at minimum power the Receiver cuts out in about 3 hours. Using Eneloops no less. Plus - they are WAY TO HEAVY! In the real world those are called - characteristics. Do they work - Excellent. Are they quiet - YUP! Easy to set up - Sort of. Sound quality - great for high quality gear. Recommend Senns for cheaper gear - like DSLRs. ... More

Ordered this setup mainly to improve audio on sizzle shoots when I have to travel light. The casing is really sturdy and the single receiver for two lavs is great for when you don't have a lot of inputs on your recording device. Mics are good quality for interviews and in-scene sound. Practical range is not as wide as some higher end setups, but works perfectly within a couple of large rooms distance. I would definitely get another if need be... but then again, ask me in 6 months, the wear and tear is TBD. Overall, it's a good product and so far I am very happy with it. ... More

I've been working in the film industry for 30 years. I have worked with tons of different mic systems and by far this is one of the worst product I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend buying the sennheiser lavalier g3. I wish that I had bought this system over this product. I sent this new product back to the company as they suggested. I was sent back a USED older model that has the same problems with drop off even five feet away from the transmitter lav. I would suggest to all people looking for a microphone system to stay away from using this product at all costs. The sennheiser lavalier g3 is more likely to be the best for all production needs for most audio applications. I used them for years and had zero issues and I regret buying this terrible product. In all honesty I'm now stuck with working with this lav mic system and had wished that I had never made the decision to buy it. ... More

I don't know if this is across the board with these lav mics, but my set has a high pitch hiss. It's not something that can't be taken out in post, but it would be nice if it wasn't there... That is my biggest complaint. They are sturdy, pairing was easy, the windscreen on the lav is large, borderline too large...
