I am sure from what have read and seen on youtube, the Rode VideoMic Pro+ is a great microphone. But the pictures shown don't really convey how large it is. I am sure it would be fine on a DSLR, but for use with my Fujifilm X-T4 and X-T20, it's way too big. I did not open the inner plastic packaging container because comparing the mic to the camera it just looked too big for my purposes. I am returning it and purchasing a Sennheiser MKE 400. I should have looked at more reviews comparing the Rode size-wise to other mics. ... More

Got this microphone. very comfortable and functional. But the sound recording quality was some disappointment. I have another Audio-Technica AT8024 DSLR microphone. So here. The Rode Videomic Pro Plus is undoubtedly inferior in sound quality to the Audio-Technica AT8024.

I did a short research on on-camera mics and this one rose to the top. I had a very short window to learn and use it, but it all worked out and I got my video assignment to the editor within 24 hrs of the arrival. I used some You-tube videos to assist in using as I am not experienced with video on my Canon 5D3. Worked great for a video beginner like me!

New to the video world. Paired this with my Canon Vixia HG G70 (camcorder) works great. Has a good pickup at distance and the proximity effect is way less than my podcast mic. I have used it to record school presentations (on stage), family events and advertisements for work. I would highly recommend this mic. My only complaint is that the auto on/off don't always work on my Vixia, so I would be sure to make sure it is on before shooting.

Superb! Couple of issues for me though. It appears their "improved" deadcat is a scaredy-cat when it comes to a slight breeze for one of two reasons. My theory is ether they're using kitten fur (instead of adult lion's mane) or someone hasnt been properly checked out with the clippers. The other is they need a right angle on both cable ends to reduce cable forehead denting (when not using a cage or extension)

Had a beginner RODE shotgun mic. Is still working well and heard the sound quality was an upgrade. Never had an issue with the companies products and the cost from the beginner model to this isn't that bad. I use this for videos on my YouTube channel (mcgolf) when the situation required it. It is now a partner to the wireless go system and sound coming from them both is very similar, clear, within the range I prefer and I don clip. well done RODE.

So many people said not to buy a shotgun mic and that I should buy the wireless lav sets. They said that the quality is not the same and that you get a fuller sound from the lav mic. Well I have great news! The Rode Mic Pro is amazing!!! I watched some YouTube videos on proper usage and wham! It's awesome. So I highly recommend this great mic. Buy it and learn about it and you'll love it. Bruce D'Amico Photography

I checked out a lot of reviews before buy this mic. I was a little concerned about the comments about it being in the way of the view finder on my gh5s. This was not a problem at all for me. I don't use the view finder as a rule. But I just brought a Vello 6" shoe extension and put that on if I need it. I love everything else about the mic. Sound quality is very good. The auto power on feature is awesome to have as well.

My driver to purchase the Rode Shotgun microphone was to rely on an industry leader to supply a microphone that delivers great-sounding vocals from a distance away. This microphone is being used in a church setting to record sermons and choir singers from over 20 feet away. With the right settings on the microphone and care to prevent distractions, the microphone delivers a great sounding recording.

Picks up more lateral signal than front directional. Pretty much useless as a shotgun in noisy rooms. Will be returning this one.

I love this mic! From the rechargeable battery, to the different levels and gains, to even the safety mode, which allows one channel to be a lower DB than the other - which is what I always shoot in now to be safe! It allows me to raise the normal level, as I now have a safety for the other channel. Keep in mind that this is not stereo, it's still mono, but in premiere, you can choose which channel you want, so you can choose both outputs to L or R.

I was hoping to replace my old Sony XLR wired lav mic with a shotgun but I have to say the lav with the Kopul low to high impedance matching transformer is far superior. Even with the high pass filter on and the camera volume low and the mic set higher with the +20 db, I am still picking up a lot of room noise. I also feel like you have to be right on top of the mic to get a decent sound. However for a low cost shot gun I suppose it is ok and I am keeping it as a back-up mic. ... More

I really don't find any significant improvements than the others mics of the videomic line. Materials seems cheaper... Certainly could cost 150 dollars less...

I was looking for audio equipment for my a6600. I saw Peter Lindgren use this shotgun mic as his main audio equipment. I was super disappointed with the Rode Videomic+performance. I try multiple times to play around the setting. it picks a lot of the background noise. My Samsung S9 and my $40 Blue Snowball USB mic have better sound quality over the Rode VideoMic Pro+. Both have less background noise.

Spring for this mic, it's totally worth it! I paid $299, and I would have paid $499! Wonderful audio, yet easy to use. Plug and play! A necessity for any video camera!

Increeeeedible microphone! wow! I had the Rode videomic go before, and the difference is insane. My GO mic started acting up and having weird static sounds, so I had to invest into a good mic. This PRO PLUS blew my mind. Cant recommend enough. DEFINITELY worth the investment!

I am using the Rode Pro with 2 Sony RX100M7 cameras and it works great. They each have a 5 minute record limit and this allows me to switch back and forth for much longer recordings. I used a splitter cable and recorded 2 mono tracks (left to camera A) and (right to camera B). I then use my video editor to paste and patch audio stereo to the video.

A good microphone is always a good friend, because it listens to every details and does not add its own noise. However, this one is truly the best friend to my Canon EOS 5D IV because it turns on together with the camera's video mode. After years with inferior brands, I finally feel like my videos are complete.

I previously had the first generation VideoMic Pro, but after having it for 5 years, I was due for an upgrade. The VMP+ produces clearer audio than its predecessors, and the auto-on feature is something everything should have. Most of my recording is run and gun style, and not having to turn on the microphone separately from my camera helps me get the shot.
