The RODECaster Pro is a product that make you wonder why someone did not do this before now. It eliminates the need for a seperate recorder, mixer, sound effects pad, headphone amplifier/splitter, and digital phone hybrid. Instead you carry all of this in one compact board. And the operator doesnt have to try and understand the complicated mix/minus set-up that comes with setting up a telephone interface. Yes, this is made for podcasting, but clearly can be used for radio production. The biggest complaint that seems to come up is that all channels are recorded down to one stereo track. So individual track editing is not available. But what you have with the RODECaster Pro is the ability to produce a live to tape production, which frankly is what most people probably want. Broadcasts like this are authentic, raw and real and that seem to be where the market is today. ... More

I got this to do voiceovers in video... not really what its designed for but I just wanted a simple quality push this rec button and record my voice and have the ability to give myself a little more of a deeper professional tone in my voice. After recording to a sd card, move it over to my computer and video edit... So far its been what I hoped for. Ive done some initial testing and am now getting the scripts together. The configuration is well set up for a small podcast studio with 4 mics and a sound engineer. I do wish the buttons were designed to be able to put writing on them somehow... so I could identify what each button was set up for... Im using the sound effect button to identify a new start-over when I mess up so it can be easily identified and cut when creating the audio track to the videos. Clean design, easy to set up and use. ... More

Updating my old review..... We bought it less than 30 days ago so i was allowed to do a return. Phew!! Based on other's good reviews, Im suspecting that theyre good units overall, but we musta got a dud. Will buy another one once we're credited back. We returned it because channel #2 is faulty. Massive backgroud hiss & hum. Also that channel cant match the other channels eq levels while recording with identical mics on all channels. Were hoping the replacement unit is better or we will consider the new, more affordable & very comparable Zoom LiveTrak L-8 because it is about $200 less but not as user friendly. ... More

I first saw the RODECaster Pro on social media, as a few other podcasts I follow had recently purchased one. First of all B&H did a great job with the speedy shipping and delivery. Secondly, this is a very inclusive piece of equipment, and with the new firmware upgrade i find it to be even more powerful. I record a podcast with two co-hosts, so three of us total, and none of us are in the same area. With multitrack recording and no need for a computer it provides us with a multitude of options for recording. For our situation, i use the rodecaster pro as in interface and use the USB input to record google hangouts while using my own mic as an input directing in to the RODECaster Pro. Like I said, there are a million ways to set this up which makes it very appealing if you are on the go and your recording set up may be a little different than the normal everyone in the same studio podcast. Happy recording! ... More

Got one of these with a bit of apprehension and I cant be more thrilled with it. I tested it using Facetime on a Mac, a cell phone connected to the 1/8 TRRS connector and a Bluetooth Phone along with a mic at channel one. All participants could hear each other perfectly and my computer was able to record the audio in various channels. Furthermore the noise floor on this is super low - I dont see any remnants or buzz or anything - its dead silent. The quality is there and Im just totally impressed with this device. First and foremost impeccable service from BH Photo shipped timely arrived on time. Now to the unit I am extremely pleased with how easy it was to set up due to the most intriguing set of instructions which are giant flash cards of the unit. They clearly show where everything is to be plugged into which makes this so pleasurable to someone that has no experience setting this type of stuff together. So far so good haven't had a chance to actually publish any of casts made due to work obligations. Great product that does everything it claims and more!!! Much love BH Photo and Rode! First and foremost, excellent sound quality. Broadcast quality. Very easy to set up and use. Not the PERFECT device....but real close. Lots of bang for the buck. I continue to be impressed by Rode. A very versatile unit....dont be fooled by the term PODCAST....lots of uses in different scenarios if you work with audio. The Bluetooth feature with mix minus,by default....is nearly worth the price alone. And when it was not in stock anywhere....the PROS at B & H had it. One of the many reasons you can COUNT on B & H.

I've been using the Rodecaster for the past few months and find this to be an amazing all in one podcasting solution. The Rodecaster is relatively easy to use with its large beautiful touch screen for navigating through the menus to customize your settings to your preferences. I have my Rodecaster paired with 2 Rode PodMics and find this an excellent combination for great audio recording quality. The built-in APHEX enhancement really makes a noticeable improvement in giving my voice that radio broadcast quality, especially the Aural Exciter and Big Bottom effects...it's truly impressive! I created a YouTube video that demonstrates the APHEX enhancements both on and off for my voice recording using a Rode PodMic. Where do I start? The Rode caster PRO is the all in one mixer for podcasters and live streamers - beginners to pro. I won't get in to all this compact mixer does, if you're here you already are familiar with mixers. Right out of the box, just plug in your mic's and headsets, turn on the mixer hit record and you're off to making your podcast. Easy as 1-2-3. Make some adjustments using the touch screen and your voice will sound like the radio pros! And this is coming from someone who uses the Zoom L-12 mixer. I love both of these mixers. ... More

I had to contemplate returning this thing because of how expensive it was, but I'm going to hold onto it because it is a pretty good all-in-one tool. I bought it primarily for streaming and voice overs, and maybe podcast down the line. The thing that kept making me think about returning it was that although it was simple, it was actually too simple for me. To use the tools it comes with, it's simply an on and off switch. No real tweaking can be done in the software because there is no software if you want to get it just right. Might have to use something like Adobe Audition to adjust the levels how you like it, which is some more money to add. For context, I am using this with an Electrovoice RE320 dynamic microphone, and listening to the audio with the beyerdynamic DT770 Pro limited edition heaphones (250ohm). Overall decent product, as I am expecting a lot from this in future updates to the firmware. ... More

Ive been recording podcasts for years on hardware and software but this by far is the easiest device I have ever used. Simple and to the point, basic compression and EQ, mics sound great. The best part is the computer and phone interface, if youve ever used an older phone tap you know how horrible echo can get... eliminated with this. Did a day of podcast interviews with Coach Tony Dungy, used GoToMeeting, Facetime, cell and Skype, all worked without issue. Also Multi track recorded to Garage Band on the computer.

We used to record our podcast to a digital recorder and then edit on Adobe Audition. It was a good workflow, but the post production could sometimes take a significant amount of time. Now I simply hit record and trigger jingles and disclaimers when appropriate. Once we're done, the show goes online. HUGE time saver. And the sound quality is great! Considering this board is just a few hundred more than a good multi track recorder, the additional cost is more than justified in time savings. Plus, it's just really cool to have the soundboards right at your fingertips!

After weeks of research, I ordered this bundle for my new podcast. I absolutely love the RodeCaster Pro mixer. It's relatively easy to understand and offers tons of options. The mics are great too. The only change I would make is to upgrade the desktop mic stands. They were unstable on a flat surface and didn't support the mics when the boom was fully extended. Also, I would recommend including headphones with this package.

The microphones, great! The Board, awesome! The accessories are cheap and not fully compatible with the kit. These mic stands are flimsy and tip over with slight adjustments. Be prepared to buy additional stands and throw these out. BH will not let you substitute or swap out different reliable stands. For a microphone this heavy, just buy a tabletop short mic stand. The base needs to be a big circle. Avoid buying a mic stand with a base like this one! You could probably buy everything separate for cheaper. I also got the kit without a power cord... So make sure all the pieces are in this when you get it. ... More

This thing was built for podcasting and it excels at it. Pretty much every think I could want is here. With the recent updated firmware (version 1.10) it does multitrack and added mix-minus to the USB (for skype, etc. interaction, adding to its flexibility). Once recorded the only thing i have left to do is 1 EQ preset and cutting out unwanted material which is easy since i can add markers from the console. This is a nice unit. A game changer for podcasting. I've used the phone input for several podcasts now and it works wonderfully. Sound quality is great and it's easy to use. But... poly wave files. I'm not a fan. When multitracking to micro SD card, it records a poly wave file with 14 tracks embedded. It doesn't matter if you're using 2 channels or 10, you get a poly wave file with 14 tracks. I'm not sure if this happens with other DAWs, but this is a pain with Protools. You only get the waveform on the 1st track (which is the left master track). So... I love the unit, but not a fan of the poly wave files when multitracking to micro SD. ... More

Since the latest firmware updates giving us processing options, it is a huge time saver in the end where I do not have to add compression, noise gates, or a high-pass filter for example. The fact that you have access to the Aphex Aural Exciter and Big Bottom allows for you to get that broadcast sound, especially with the Rode Procaster Microphone. I actually use this to connect my Xbox One to use my xlr microphones in party and game chats.
