The concept of this product is very cool. My issue is with the absence of on-board tone control and with the user interface. Now, the user interface is probably a double-edged sword since you can create a program very rapidly; but, you still have to export it and mix it in order for it to be publishable at a quality that I find acceptable. You might disagree and find the quality fine... especially for spoken word. In addition it seems that the interface is becoming overly complex with firmware updates trying to accommodate user requests and limited hardware. My advice for Rode is to limit the software updates - since the software does a great job at the level for which it was designed. Keep the upgrade requests for the next-gen Rodecaster Pro V.2.

Cant update firmware without Windows 10?

Just received mine and am very disspaointed to learn that I cannot update the firmware without having a Windows 10 or Mac 10.11 PC. All my hardware runs on good-old stable windows 7. I borrowed a friends Win 10 PC to run the update and NO - now the software doesnt recognize the USB connection (the only way to run the update). Rode tech support was terse and told me to try a different USB C cable - same result. The he told me to just have your dealer give you another unit.. Ticked off... I bought this as its a stand-alone recording system. Yet It cant be updated via SD card. Why wasnt it sent with current firmware in the first place? These just came in after being out of stock. ... More
