I used to use the rode nt1 when I recorded my first record. I loved it. This mic blows the nt1 out of the water with the beautiful warm sound resenating through the tubes witch the nt1 never had. This mic is gonna make my new project shine like never before.

This Mic Is Great! Quality Built product with a Smooth Professional Look. Paired With a good Mic Pre It will give you the vocal you want but you need to play with the proximity when you record your vocals. Turn It on, wait for 15 min and you are ready to go. There is no limit to what you can do, I cut VOX from HipHop Artists, to RnB Singers, they all sound great! And the support!Companies need to learn form Rode Microphones. Not just they offer the 10 years warranty, if you have problems with your microphone they will fix it ASAP! I had problems with my mic ( something with cables ) but Rob from they service department was so kind , he send me a new suite for the mic , changed the tube ( as I asked him) send me a new shock mount and a new cable! This mic... We had a couple at school available for students to use in their recording sessions. Those ones had a lot of mileage on them and were still favorites amongst students who also had access to mic's from brands like Shure, AKG, Neumann, etc. Despite the price tag, it was an easy decision to make this upgrade based on the experience I had with them as a student.. man was I looking forward to hearing the quality of a brand new one. IT HAS NOT DISSAPPOINTED. I mainly record vocals (female singer/songwriter). I also own an AKG C214, and an SM7B. This mic far outperforms them both on my voice. Paired with my Apollo Twin, the sound is crystal clear. Beautiful tone, slight "warmth" contributes to a full sounding vocal, while capturing all the details without the harsh high end my C14 tends to get.. the NTK is just right. Could not be happier with this purchase!! ... More

My first mic is a Rode NT1 and my daughter uses a Mashall MXL 770. I've always loved vacuum tube pre's and amps. I've been reading around on what to buy next, tube vs. ribbon. This tube won me over! Very first listen with a decent pair of headphones after 30 to 45 minutes to let all of the electronics warm-ups. Not smooth as glass, smooth as butter. Creamy, warm, full, al natural. Straight, no eq, sweetener, or effects, flat. Just a lush texture that picks up everything in my recording den. The audex panels are already here and this weekend is a little remodeling work to be done to drop the floor noise. Who says you have to spend a ton to sound good? And the blue light is so nice! Do yourself a favor and just take 5 and listen to yourself. Be informed, then make your decision. ... More

After starting with entry level condensers, then upgrading to a semi-pro $400 mic (a very nice mic but...), I was not happy with any of them for vocals. So I tried a Rode NTK. Wow! was what I thought after firing it up (I let it warm up for an hour). I found my voice! I mean it was my voice with no coloration at all. So, I bought a second one! Both, used, for under $300. I HIGHLY recommend for the home studio vocals, podcasting, miking instruments.

I have now recorded about 4 times with this mic (male solo vocal and acoustic guitar at the same time with just the one mic. I am impressed and very pleased. Even tho the guitar is not miked it picks up beautifully. The vocals are detailed, clear and resonant. I have read that switching out the tube makes it even better and so have purchased additional tubes to this end. So far the supplied tube is so good I haven't felt the need. Eventually I will try out the other tubes and see if it makes it even better. So far... Bravo Rodes! ... More

I love this mic, it has a kinda hot sound to it. you can hear the gently distortion from the tube. ive used it for percussion rap vocals, acoustic guitar and other stuff. i think its good for some vocalist but it might not be good for all. i wouldnt recommend it for loud, metal or most rap vocalist. it has a crunchy/scratchy sound that you expect from a tube mic, but its acuatlly kinda smooth with a detailed high end. great mic for alot of things. and it doesnt sound cheap or cheesy like most affordable condenser mics. get one, or better yet get two. ... When I got this thing my first reaction was "Wow, I actually enjoy hearing myself sing through this." The first time I had someone else sing on it she had the same reaction... This mic is beautiful, especially once it warms up. Warning, though: for the best sound, you need to give it an hour to warm up. It's inconvenient, especially in a home-studio setting, but well worth it.

Worked with many mic s in the past and nothing comes close to this one. I recommend this mic to any and everyone who is serious about recording vocals.

I'm using this microphone for podcasts and screencasts. The power supply for this mic gives a generous boost to gain and doesn't require phantom power. I'm using it when background noise is not an issue. Works well with the Rode shock mounts. This is a very nice mic.

My favorite go to microphone that can do most everything. Sounds great with NOS tubes. Built in Australia! It's a professional Mic that I highly recommend and would buy another if anything happens to it.

This mic is known to be a bit harsh. Tested it with a NOS Ampex tube and the highs smoothed out very nicely. I have no concern about using this to track singers.

This used mic was defective with low, inconsistent output. I've had a couple of NTKs in the past and loved them. This one... not so much.
