As you would expect from Rode the mic is amazing. The battery life is so long and the quality is top notch. The rest of the items in this kit are garbage. The boom pole has locking rings for the pole to expand and they broke during the first hour of use. The shock mount isn't really worth anything is wobbles loudly ruining clear audio. The cables are decent enough. Just buy the mic and piece together your own kit. One use is not worth it.

This microphone is pretty amazing. I do a lot of documentary work and it works perfectly for capturing crisp audio, even outdoors! I chose this mic instead of lavs because it's more versatile in my opinion, and the audio is just as clear.

Pure gold. Rode makes awesome products. I'm no audio expert, but I'm really happy with the quality coming from this thing.

I bought this to compare with a Rode NTG2 I had. The sound from the NTG4+ is more balanced and seems better in the mid range. The NTG4+ does not have the bass bias of the NTG2, which some people might miss (I don't). I ended up selling my NTG2 and am now going with the NTG4+.

Solid mic for the price, the onboard battery is a cool feature and if that dies there's always the Phantom power option. I'm a big fan of the high boost button for when it's in the blimp or a deadcat.

I wanted something for the studio and that I could take out as a second camera mic. This works great and good for the price. Not sure why there is a battery option with no 3.5mm jack. If in the studio, 48v phantom power works from my H6. I can buy a mic adapter to connect to my sony Alpha series camera and would be a very versatile microphone.

This mic sounds incredible. I am very, very happy with it. Use it for interview style videos. If issue while using BMPCC4K, try powering cam and mic off, unplugging, and let set for 5 or more mins. Worked for me when gain controls wouldn't work, and when sound was extremely low or not present at all.

Great microphone...Rode quality product. Have used it in three productions since it arrived. Good sound. The reason I only gave it four stars instead of five was the charging cable for the internal battery was defective on arrival and I had to purchase another one to initially charge it fully for the first use.

I chose this mic from its reputation and I've been well please so far. My other shotgun mic lets more side sound thru, which only came apparent once I started using the ntg4. The customer service was awesome too. That always puts you at ease, knowing what to expect. I'll review more in detail after a couple months of usage, I love it so far!

Great sound quality and very balanced, specially for the price. Excellent when paired with a battery hungry device like a Tascam DR-60DMKII or when using it with a noisy preamp like the ones in the Zoom H4n thanks to its internal battery. The 10 years guarantee it's another big plus.

The NTG4+ is the top dog for mics in this price range. Pair it with the 10 year warranty, and your $400 will go to WORK for you. This mic is a no-brainer for any videographer or filmmaker.

I upgraded from the NTG 2 to this. The build in battery and digital switches are very handy. Be warned though that as far as sound quality, it's not much of an improvement over the NTG 2.

So far, so good. Bought this after I sent my NTG-2 back for a warranty repair. The 10 year extended warranty through Rode is definitely a selling point! I haven't used it in the field yet, but tests are encouraging as far as sound quality and functionality.

I am impressed with the quality of this mic. It sounds great and has what seems like a nicely secure xlr connection. I think it's great that it holds such a long charge. No more 9volts! Also noticed a lot more dynamic range in this mic vs the entry level Rode mics.

I like the USB charger, it works well. The ability to not have purchase fresh batteries is cool. The sound is fair, it is sensitive to other noise. Does require you to keep at close proximity to your subject. Great addition to our sound kit.

I got the NTG4 several months ago and added the NTG4+ the last time it was on sale (for less than the NTG4). The self noise is pretty low and I really like the sound and off-axis rejection from these. My only gripe is that the price changes constantly. Like another reviewer said, skip the kit.

The best option for this budget, the power capability is incredible, its light and portable, I uses most of the time as a boom mic, and as a in camera mic with different setups, and the quality its really really good, even better than more expensive mics.

I mostly use this for Foley work, it's fantastic, and an improvement from my NTG2. Very happy with the purchase. In the right settings this mic can get great crisp sound, if outside I use a the Rode Blimp windshield.

The NTG4+ its a great shotgun mic, it delivers great sound and its filters work pretty well, battery lasts a lot, Auray Fur windshield works ok, it does get rid of some air noise, but dont expect it to make miracles, especially on windy days
