Bought 8 for my video production class have 3 left. They are not durable. There seems to be a weakness in the wiring of pigtail, in that the cord comes lose after while and stops working.

Yup that's it folks. I wish I could say more but it only worked one day. The next day..nada.

I was looking for a cheap microphone that does it's job well. This is just what I was looking for. It comes with two mounts, one for the camera and for a boom pole, so it is useful for many areas. I find the normal mode on it is much better than the tele function, since the tele function picks up noise from all directions. The audio is great, so with that being said, I would recommend it if you are looking for something on a budget.

Well would of gave it five stars but the tele mode you get this weird electrical sounding background humm but nothing that you cant fix in any DAW . Sounds frikin awesome we filmed inside and outside sound cam out wonderful I love this mic... Good buy was worried lots of research took a chance good buy and B&H got it here a Day Earlier than expected . .

I found that the microphone does give you clear well rounded sound when recording. However, you do need to be close to the subject. Additionally, when you use the tele switch, it picks up some background noise that hollows out the sound. I would say a better mic to use for an interior location shoot vs exterior. It'll work fine for those no budget shoots.

I bought this item when i worked in NY (I am a MV film maker in Taiwan) because i forgot to bring my ATR-6550 to NY. When I used it on my EOS-50D for eviroment mikin, I found the quality is very nice, and when we went back home and compared this new member to my 6550, I found the sound quality is better, it's a amazing! Then I check the place of production, I found SCL-1075 is made in Taiwan, and then I know why the quality is so good. It is a nice choice for entrance level user!!

As suggested by the title - not the greatest. It has decent recording quality, play back through the source (DSLR Canon in my case) is grainny/static sounding, but I haven't noticed much once the footage is uploaded into a computer. My biggest complaint is there is no idicator light, which is a problem due to the placement of the switch so close to the dust cover that on he last setting it's physically under the cover.

I use this for my Canon Vixia, it works great with it. Clear sound and the Tele mode can pick up from quite a distance. The only real issue is that you should expect to get an AUX extension cable if you would like to use the mic as a functioning boom.

I needed a mic, but I was just not 100% sure of what I really wanted. I defiantly wanted a shotgun mic and found this mic on B&H. It is on the low price range, but has a great quality to it. This works perfectly for me since I am just starting doing freelance. This is amazing for anyone who is a beginner, doesn't have a lot of money, or both.

It may not be the top of its class, but it worked beautifully as a directional mic. I was taping a wedding and all the festivities, and at the reception, I had guests come outside and talk on camera about the newlyweds, and so forth. The doors to the reception opened numerous times and every time, the loud music escaped outdoors, but the subjects on camera were still clear.

I bought this mic and like other reviewers, mine only lasted 4 uses - then nothing. I tried new batteries - still nothing. Luckily I had another mic but I had wanted to use both - one for an audio recorder and one for the camera... The 4 times I did use it - I would consider it O.K. but if you want something dependable - don't buy it...

I use this in the field, doing interviews after sporting events. Sound quality is good, easy to handle, simple to operate. I've seen others review this mic and say that the only drawback is that you can't tell about battery level. If you wear a headset, that's not an issue since you can monitor what things sound like. For the price, I'd buy this again in a second.

Gets accurate sound but I don't know if its my 60D or if i'm just a newb but it seems to pick up a hissing noise. Its easy to clean up in post but I don't think it suppose to do that. Also it doesn't have any indicator of how much battery life you have so be aware of that too.

Used it once for 10 minutes to test it, went to use it a couple of weeks later and it was dead.

I bought based on price and was a little skeptical but it had good reviews and I needed a mic. I've used it a few times and so far have been impressed! It produces a clear, even sound and I use it directly into my projects without any modifications.

I bought this mic a couple of years ago. I used it twice. It was stored in a closet. I pulled it out to use recently and it was DOA. Pretty disappointed to throw away what was essentially a brand new mic.

I use it for recording audio on my T3i, which this makes for a huge leap from my camera's internal mic. I still need to play around with some settings on my camera that could help reduce ambient noise pickup, but it was easily removed in post with Audition.

So far it has worked well. I only have two small complaints; there is an audible pop when changing modes, and the hot shoe attachment offers no sound isolation between the camera and the mic. For the price though, it's a good bang for the buck.

Is it the best? No. Is it the worst? Also no. I've had one of these for years now and I've used it countless times. The thing is less than $50 and sounds better than similar on-cam shotgun mics Rode puts out. It's by no means the best, but if you're young and/or broke it's a good first step.
