Listen alot of people say this mic is not like the u87. Well maybe it isnt, but as a standalone microphone for vocals, this thing will get you professional quality. Obvisouly the mic is just the beggining, you gotta have a decent preamp, I have the LAMK2 universal audio and with this mic, you quality is just amazing, I recomend this to anyone who is actually an audio engineer, because if you are having trouble with this beaty, You must know what your doing, plus post production is a big part of a song aswell, so know what your talking about, before you say it ... Neumann makes the finest microphones. The TLM 102 is the bargain ticket to the game. Clean and natural sound with precision detail. The pristine clarity and open sound lets vocals sit on top of the mix with minimal work. You will want to use the TLM 102 on everything. You can get a budget brand microphone that is good or you can get the most for your hard earned dollars. It does not have the extra magical sparkle of high ticket Neumann microphones like the U 87, but it gets you in the game for a fraction of the price.

I bought 2 of these. I'm a singer-guitarist-songwriter, and this mic works awesome on vocals & acoustic guitar. For vocals the sound is almost translucent. I use it with a Focusrite Scarlett 1818. I would buy this again - which actually I already did !!! Note B&H had it in my hands within 3 days - FREE shipping ! One small heads up - this mic picks up EVERYTHING - so be careful if you are recording in the basement and someone is stomping around upstairs - the sound WILL be picked up. Awesome mic - built like a tiny tank !! ... More

I bought the TLM 102 to compliment my mic locker of strictly radio production and voiceover mics. I have a fairly baritone voice and I think Neumann made this mic just for me! I love the clarity and full response. It feeds my Focusrite Clarett and sounds amazing with AIR engaged or not! NO regret whatsoever investing in this mic. Neumann for the win!

The clarity on this mic is fantastic, even compared to its big brother the TLM 103. The compact design makes it a hit with users who don't want a lot of bulk right in front of their face.

If your budget allows, please do not settle for anything less than the Neumann 102. Over my 12 years of recording in a studios across the world, Neumann mics have provided the best sound overall across a diverse range of vocals. From singers, choirs, rappers, or broadcast, this is a must have! Do not settle if the budget allows.

There are better sounding vocal mics out yhere. But this mic excels on instruments. I'm mainly using it in orchestral settings as spot mics. It sounds pretty well on voice too, given the right voice. It's a fairly neutral mic (for Neumann) and sounds like none of the other mics in Neumann's line up.

Seeing this for the first time my immediate reaction was that this is too good to be true. However thinking it over I knew that Neumann wouldn't sacrifice quality just to get their gear at an affordable price point. This mic is quality! It's perfect for the home studio. Anything recorded with this can easily be punched in at a pro studio, if your using the right pre's of course. It's the smallest microphone I've owned. A great introduction into the Neumann family!

It is easy to be deceived into thinking this isn't a substantial microphone because it is so small, but it performs as well as other large diaphragm condenser mics twice the size and twice the price. I wish I had gotten the shock mount. I'm using a universal shock mount, and the microphone is dwarfed by it.

I'm a songwriter and this is my reference mic (main vocal mic is sony c-100). This adds something new to my vocal chain that I love without even having to EQ or compress. Raw vocals give an amazing cut for post production. Great low self noise. Dynamic range is awesome. Love it all. Highly recommend.

Using it for vocals and acoustic tracking. For the price point this is the best vocal mic I have used. I was surprised with the response levels. I would recommend this for any home studio vocalist or even voice over work.

I'm familiar with TLM-102s and have recorded with them for a number of years. The 102 I recently purchased from B&H has had no problems so far and has already provided lots of audio at the high level of quality I need for my projects, even standing up to an unorthodox recording setup for COVID-19. This product has cemented my opinion of 102s as one of the best value Neumann microphones.

Am looking to buy a microphone and this one is on my list. Since I've not tried it this is not a review but a comment. B&H you include a useless YouTube video of a guy talking German who does not even demonstrate the microphone but just says, I like it! I just wonder if anyone there watches these videos before adding them to the product description and wasting customers' time.

This is my favorite mic that I have ever recorded on. I don't have the deepest voice and this mic compliments me perfectly (My voice isn't really that high either FYI! lol) The sound is full and warm, but not too full and warm. It is very small so that may be a problem depending on your equipment/preferences. The size, however, is not a problem for me at all.

These are great little microphones you can’t beat them for the price. As we all know Newman makes the best microphones these are an easy way to get into their line. I highly recommend them if you can’t afford the more expensive ones.

Great quality mic for the price. TLM 102 is the most affordable mic in it's class and it doesn't cut corners. I love the presence this mic has. All frequencies covered. I also love using it as a room/ambience mic when recording guitar. But it's amazing for vocals.

I've been using a Shure SM7B for voice-overs, and have been generally happy with it. We had budget for for a new mic, and I wanted the TLM-103, but it was too much. I settled for the TLM-102 but, wow, I am impressed. Neumann says it's A true Neumann at an affordable price. They're not kidding. It's great!

I just can't say enough about the Neumann design. I have a baritone voice and no other mic has ever been so warm for me as the Nuemann ... especially the U87! But hey ... the TLM 102 is just fine!
