For home use and messing around, this is definitely a solid, inexpensive choice. The specs speak for themselves and you get what you pay for. Wouldn't be the right choice for professional Voiceover or Singing applications but if you want to get something super cool for the creative kids in your life, this is a definite must-have. I'd pair it with any base model XLR mic for that. That said, if you're going pro with any type of vocal work, you're going to need quite a few different types of mic with varying degrees of power consumption. This interface just doesn't cut it for clarity and quality. For fun, 5 stars... For the recording professional, not so much. ... More

I was honestly surprised at how simple this was to setup- within mere minutes it is already all connected and working as normal, the audio output knob (alongside signal clip) prove to be very useful tools for managing and troubleshooting your audio if you are doing a podcast, game commentary, or maybe you're an audio mastering professor doing an online lecture. I am glad to be able to say that the order arrived quickly, and will most definitely consider purchasing products from M-Audio and B&H again.

It's cheap, simple, and it works. What more do you want for $50? Well, I was hoping for 24 bit resolution, because that's what the B&H specs say -- but no. When I plug it into a Mac, Audio Midi Setup reports that max resolution is 16 bit. I'd like to have more mic preamp gain. Recording normal conversational voice with a dynamic mic at about 14, audio peaks at about -12.

This affordable unit is easy to use and connects well to the standard USB computers. Works well in a electronic music lab and students are not intimidated with using it. Great for small at home set up.

I tested this interface in late Oct. then set it aside until my script was ready in early Dec. That time it gave me trouble in more than one way. Cannot get M-Audio to reply to a request for tech support, so I'm going to send this back to retailer.

The reason only 4 stars just because I was expecting to get the basic Pro Tools that should come with the package. IT'S NOT ANYMORE! The solo itself does its job perfectly!
