I bought my first pair in the mid 90's with the purchase of a Panasonic cd player. The sales guy was steering me towards these but I wanted to try other pairs as well and even pricier sets didn't sound as good. Fast forward 6 years, one morning I come into work and my headphones are a mangled mess on my desk - as it turns out they went thru the power head of the janitors vacuum cleaner! I went and bought another pair - hiding them in my drawer every night. some months later I decided to try out the warranty, sent them to Koss Canada with the required $5 and voila! a replacement arrived within a couple of weeks! I've been recommending these to everyone, also order a set of extra foam earpieces - cheerz! ... More

I've used these headphones for years and I am very satisfied with the sound. It's probably the best sounding headphones in its price range and I would not have trust to any other kind unless I hear anything that sounds better. Good bass and a high overall sound quality. I listen to very different styles of music and it sounds excellent regardless. They have broken a few times over the years (usually due to me being clumsy with the cord) but they come with a lifetime guarantee. Note that these headphones have excellent quality but are not meant for recording studios. They do leak some sound since they are not isolated, which means if you have loud music others will hear softly what you are listening to. They currently (December 2011) only seem to be available online ... More

Better sound than $200+ headphones! I was torn between Beats by Dre Solo, a pair of Sennheisers, Bose, or Koss portapro. Having listened to all except, the portapro, I choose the portapro's. I will be sticking with these headphones for life! Every sound produced is amazing, and the bass response is way above other phones! Buy them, more than worth it! You won't believe what you paid for them after you listen.

These are for recreational use, like from a laptop, cell, or iPod. They appear flimsy, and you might think you wasted your money when you first get them out of the box, but you would be wrong. They are solid and I am sure they will last a long time. The sound is big and full, with crisp highs and solid lows. I would even feel comfortable making a first draft mix on these, if I was in a pinch. Some people talk about getting your hair stuck in them, but that hasn't happened to me yet. They fold up small and I have no problem finding space for them in my bag. I don't usually listen to music during my workouts, so I did not include their performance in my review. Definitely worth the price - impressive for a pair of headphones that have remained unchanged since 1984! ... More

I replaced my 5-dollar Koss plastic-y phones when the foam earpieces wore away. While I didn't want phones with foam cushions, I found that I could buy replacement cushions for these, so I went ahead. The headphones are ok, though maybe I expected better features for the price. The good: they are comfortable enough to wear for a couple of hours, which was my criteria. The sound is not too bad, but it's not the same as my Sony MDRs (an unfair comparison, I know). The not-so-good: - When I remove the phones, the metal headpiece slides together. So when I put them on I have to readjust them each time. - The high frequencies are quite subdued. Might be partly my high freq hearing loss, but then my Sony phones sound great, and they have pretty flat response. - I'm used to a volume control on the cord - these don't have that feature. Overall, they're ok. If I had to replace them, I'd probably explore other options. ... More

These are the best headphones I have ever used for the price. Of course they aren't as good as the $200 ones, but they are much better than many I have tried at $50-$75. They have nice base (although not extreme base) and you can hear the midtones and highs pretty clearly as they don't get mixed together. They are light and pretty compact. The adjustments at the top can catch your hair a bit from time to time, but it's not much of a problem for me. I like the unlimited lifetime warranty too. All in all, you're not going to find a better sounding pair of headphones than these for this price. Way better than the ipod earbuds that I had before them. Works well when running or other active things. ... More

I use these headphones to listen to music on an I-Pod and also when I am streaming music on the computer. I like the fact I can still talk to someone while wearing them and still hear the music just fine. The sound is very good for such a light weight unit and they are very comfortable. I can wear them for several hours without any problems. I have a set of earbuds that start to irritate my ears after about 30 minutes. Although they were $80 I prefer the $32 Koss Porta Pros. If you are looking for a headphone to knock out the outside noise these are not what you want but for listening to music at home or work or on vacation they are perfect. The Koss does not pinch my hair but I am careful putting it on. The tension adjustment on the side of the temple pads works well.... ... More

These headphones sound awesome. If you're looking into these then you probably already know that from all the amazing reviews online. So I'll address other things: 1. They are authentic. I've ordered these before from other sites and then had to return them. My sister and I have originals from before so we can compare grooves and textures and cord length etc etc. B&H is selling the real deal. 2. Delivery, was fast. I live in Ontario and I think it took 6 business days to arrive. Again, these sound so good. Brass instruments sound amazing. Electronic music sounds awesome; both bass and highs and everything in between sounds crisp and vivid. ... More

These are awesome headphones for the money. I use them primarily for working out, so I wasn't looking for the most faithful audio reproduction. I wanted a headphone that wouldn't budge on my head, no matter what motion I put it through, and a headphone that was bass heavy. These headphones come through on both accounts. I haven't tried many headphones at this price range. I have the KSC-75, which are a touch more balanced, but I hate the ear clip design. I tried the Sennheiser/Adidas headphones. Definitely less bulky, but the sound is a bit weak across the spectrum. Keep in mind these opinions are purely subjective and I don't consider myself an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination. ... More

Use to track and playback my acoustic/electric basses, when recording. Also great for practicing while watching TV (go Warriors!) Seriously, the best part about these headphones is how light they are, how easy it is to hear other things around you when you need to, and the sound of the bass. Designed to be bass heavy so you can wear them loosely and still get a full sound. My favorite headphones of ALL TIME. Also, LIFETIME GUARANTEE IS FOR REAL. (the only problem is after a few years of falling asleep in front of the TV, you can strain the connection at the earpiece.) I've sent back two different pairs of them in the last TWENTY YEARS. (bought my first in 1996) Best price, in this case, is the best product. Buy them. You will not regret it... :-) ... More

The reviews are true, these things are great! On-ear so no problem wearing with glasses. Ears dont get hot, which is nicer than you think. Open-back not so good for noisy listening spaces, but have an open, transparent, airy sound because they are. Bass is tight and pleasing, not boomy. Light and comfortable with temple pad design. Easily driven with phone or tablet. I use them for critical listening at home at my laptop because my listening area is acoustically terrible for speakers. Free Spotify sounds wonderful. For $35 bucks EVERYONE should own a pair of these. My sons getting a pair for XMAS. ... More

Pros: Great sound quality for the price Very comfortable Stays put on my head Cons: Allows you to hear everything around you. (although this is better for working out). Everyone can hear what you're listing to, to some extent. Other Thoughts: To me most of the cons would be subjective and depend on the person. Cord may be too short for some people Bass is stronger than mids and highs although not over bearing to me. Stays on my head very well. i have gone running with these on and they've never fallen off. These are smaller than i expected. but not to the point that they're unwearable. i have friends with large heads and it fit them. but there wasn't much more room for a larger head ... More

great sound, great bass, great price. I have porta pros and also Westone UM2 (in ear) the westones have been my favorites for the past 7 years that I have had them, the porta pros are very close in detail and overall sound quality at 1/10 the price. Great when I do not want all of the isolation/noise reduction of the outside world that my westones provide because they are in ear, for example when running in the street it is good to be able to hear a car as it gets close. A must have for any music enthusiast.

These headphones are lightweight, so easy to carry around with you. But they are hefty when it comes to sound richness. I will never deal with earbuds or uncomfortable over ear headphones again. The soft foam is very comfortable even for extended wear. You do get some ambient noise, but that makes it great for personal use- you can hear the smoke alarm, or phone ring, etc. :) May be too hot on the ears for workouts, but that's to be expected. My playlists sound so much better than even my Bose player. The only down side (maybe?) is that you can easily tune out people around you! ... More

Crisp and clear sound, throw back look and the headphones themselves have a manufacturers lifetime warranty how can you beat that. These are my second pair. My first pair sounded great as well then I had a speaker issue. Looked up the koss site and notice that this model headphone has a lifetime guarantee to them. sent them the original receipt and the headphones and received a brand new pair in the mail. This is my second pair because my kids decided to play hot potato with them and they were lost in the shuffle. buy them you will enjoy.

I bought these headphones about 10 years ago and really enjoyed them until they were lost in a move. Now I remember why I like them so much: comfort and great depth in their sound. They float on your ears (the pressure is adjustable) and produce wonderful tones in low middle and high frequencies. A wonderful rounded quality to the sound. The construction is solid, and they're stiff enough that you can run with them. The bag is nice, but a little tough to get into and out of. For such a low price, these are really my favorite headphones - they greatly enhance my music listening pleasure. ... More

Use for listening to music on laptop while studying. If you want something to work out in or wear places in public where noisy not a great idea. If you want great audio quality in a quiet environment such as your house or they however do quite well. They are however not very ergonomic and hair gets caught. Plus side super duper cheap!

I like open ear headphones for recording and mixing audio and prefer the audio to be reasonably flat. Like most headphones considered to be more high end, the treble and bass on these are somewhat hyped. Nice for listening, but not as good for making decisions. My favorite of all the open ear phones I've tried (and I've tried a lot) is Koss's KTXPRO1. And surprisingly they're one of the cheapest.

Great dynamic range. I heard my mp3 files play sounds that I did not hear on my Sony headphones. The phones are light weight and they fold up into a small pouch for storage. Given the fold-ability, the wires may get stress so I'm being careful with it. Other than that I'm happy with these phones as I have been with all Koss Products I've owned including the Pro 4AA's I originally bought many years ago.
