This was my first preamp purchase. I'm a home studio guy who live-streams jazz quartets. I'm not trying to break the bank or the mold with my studio. I mainly use ribbon and dynamic mics because everyone plays in one room. (NYC life). I've been going through an entry level 8 channel Steinberg. When I crank the gain on it for my ribbons, there's just a ton of noise. Just the clean gain alone on the ISA totally changed the way everything sounds. And then the impedance options are really fun for vibe changes. Just purchased an 8 channel. Can't wait for it to come! ... More

This is a great preamp. While it's my first foray into external preamps I still have to say I'm impressed. The impedance switching brings out different characteristics in any mic (from cheap to expensive). It's also not readily obvious but you can use the DI and the Mic inputs simultaneously. You could track some DI guitar while recording a vocal or micing a cabinet simultaneously. The build is great. The color and design is very cool. I will eventually get another one or invest in the dual channel or multiple input versions.

I bought this to supplement my Manley and Presonus preamps in my studio. The ISA One is VERY transparent, and sounds great on any mic I plug into it. Plus the headphone out option is very handy when tracking vocalists in the booth so I can hear them while I'm arming and disarming tracks without any cutout in my monitors. Great value and very portable.

The first time I realized this pre sound so incredible, I double tracked a Squire Strat direct into the unit. Two tracks, left, right. I was blown away. Then I started tracking vocals, acoustics. Same. SM 58 sounded killer, 414 bigger and warmer, 412 with shaker and tamb, up front without sounding harsh.. And now my U87. Mic with low cut, Z option, DI.. Put this in front of your converters. This is a world class sounding pre for pennies on the dollar. Total no brainer.

This is a beautiful preamp. It sounds open and full and the added functionality of simultaneous DI and mic input/output opens up lots of possibilities. Adding this to your signal chain is a huge improvement over standard interfaces pres. I also use it for analog summing a finished mix before mastering by passing the left and right channels through it one at a time to great effect. If you can only afford one channel, this is the one to start with.

I already have the ISA 428 and a ISA 220 so I knew the ISA ONE (which uses the same circuits)would sound great. It has a very polished quality and I love the package. If I need to go somewhere and only need one channel or need an extra channel I will grab the ISA ONE and go. Love the headphone output and the big VU meter.

Simply put, this preamp is a winner. It's clean and transparent, offers lots of routing flexibility, is built like a tank and flat out works. It has a send/return, so you can send your signal to a tube processor of some kind if desired and that alone makes this preamp worth it! You're not going to find a better preamp in this price range!

Nice preamp, transparent, clean. Gotta be the quietest I've owned, it puts the pre in Focusrite's own voicemaster pro to shame. Better than the pre's in my Yamaha console Figure this will work nicely with my 416 for voice

This is a great addition to my preamp arsenal. Love my Neve and API and I wanted something that was cleaner but not sterile like the Grace and this is a winner. Very modern sounding and easy to create professional results.

Looking for pro-quality equipment with a starter budget...this is the preamp for you. This preamp was provided the perfect quality for the 'at-home' recording studio I needed, plus the guidance by the B&H staff, it was made it super easy to put my system together.

One of the overlooked gems of the 80's this mic pre has become a modern, affordable unit capable of delivering clear sound even at high gain. Rupert Neve really hit the nail on the head with this one.

For a classic sound that isn't too heavy on mojo but fits just right, this is the preamp of choice. It has that classy, classic sound with just a touch of transformer sheen to it. Quite, clean, tons of gain, and excellent options with the DI.

The ISA one gives you the professional sound of a console pre. It has weight, warmth, and above all detail and clarity. It will out perform any interface pre by far and even some external pres twice the price, you simply can't go wrong buying one.

I use this to boost the level of my Shure SM7B to a usable level and it works great! I do wish I got the Isa Two or Four though, as its hard to find a place for this in my current setup, and a rack version would solve that problem.

Love it. Adds a little brightness around the 5k-6k range which compliments the tube mic that I’m using. Also guitar DI sounds incredible and transparent. Super smooth and transparent preamp.
