This microphone is awesome for the money! I own one and will buy more in the future. This mic has very low handling noise due to a very cool internal rubber shock mount. I use this for karaoke all the time, so it gets dropped frequently. Unlike the SM58's I've used in the past, this grill is resistant to dents and bounces when dropped. EV mics rock!!

I have been playing music and recording for about 17 years..I have used just about every microphone out there including all brands. I bought this to utilize as a vocal mic in place of an SM-58. The difference is like night and day...MAN..I thought the old trust 58 was a sure thing...until I heard this baby....Not even close...the clarity, gain and power of this microphone sold me immediately...I bought 3 more after using this a week and I wouldn't go back to SM-58's for vocals ever again!

recently purchased this mic for a higher price than currently offered, and thought it was good at that price; it's even better now, a great buy at this price. Up against an sm58 i also have, it's clearer and not quite so much midrange, sounds more natural, but still adding some warmth and presence to the tone. sensitivity is about the same. handling noise somewhat more than the sm58, but that's not a problem for me, as i keep it on the mic stand. The plosives "t" and "p" pop a bit more, than that fabled mic though, and i look inside and look through the mesh and find that the foam on the inside of the cover is of low density, so maybe this could be fixed by a tweak from the manufacurer. I just use an inexpensive wind cover on it and it's great, fixes the problem. Sturdy, feels good, looks good. haven't compared it against a cobalt 7 or 4, though the specs look identical, and with the sale, they're basically the same price. ... More

This mic is all i can say amazing. Its clear, the pickup in it is powerful that you can stand 3 feet away and it would still work although thats sometimes a downside but it just shows greatness. also this mic give 0 feedback. its perfect for a cramped practice space or stage. The day i bought this, i tried a sure SM58 and a Seinheiser 835 and this is just as good as the two. the only thing that scares me is that its made in china unlike SHURE but its still great quality and of course great value.

I went to Guitar Center to get a cheap mic/stand/cable for work assemblies to use with my PA. They had these on the counter for a ridiculously low price, so I figured I'd take a chance. It has displaced every mic I own (Shure SM58, Rode M1), and will buy another if I ever see it for that price again. It is very warm and clear. Very heavy and solid feel. My only complaint is it is very directional and if you get off axis much it doesn't pick up. Not an issue for me, I was always taught to "eat" the mic. ... More

I actually went to buy a different mic. Was shown this one brought it home and now I'm hooked. I've been playing in bands for years and thought there was only one great mic company out there. I'm so impressed that I'm now going to add more of these and use their instrument mics to boot.

I bought one of these mics,10 years ago.it performs very well. Just as good as a sm58. It is very reliable, as I have used this mic in practice, recording, and over 300 live performances. It is still going strong. I have several sm58, and the EV co9 is just as good in every way. At this price I will defiantly buy 2 or 3 more. This is not my first rodeo, as I am a musician of 30 years.

I went into my local Guitar Center looking for Microphones. I am building a Professional Karaoke System and Good Mic's are Important. I was shown the EV Co9. At first I thought they really don't look like much. Then I held one in my hand, they are hefty. So I bought two of them. I took one to the Karaoke club I go to, and asked if I could sing on my new microphone. Let me tell you the do sound better the Shure beta 58, but that's my opinion. I sing older Country Songs. In the style of Ray Price. These Microphones are worth what I paid for them. I plan on only using EV Co 9's as a primary microphone in my Karaoke System. ... More

Got this microphone for a co-host on a podcast. Excellent sound quality. I have begun using this over an SM58 for live vocals in my band, as I like the way the EQ sounds vs. the 58. The bass-rolloff is suited for bassier voices as the mids and highs come through a little better than a 58, which can make me sound muddy in some rooms. Only downside is the handling noise. If it's on a stand, should be no problem though. Very nice for the price.

I am buying my equipment for my Karaoke System. I wanted to buy the Electro Voice Cobalt 7 microphones. I went to my local GC store and was shown the EV Cobalt 9's instead. I bought two of these Microphones. Let me say that I was blown away when my KJ allowed me to connect one of the EV Co 7's to his system. I sang some old Ray Price songs and the friends at my table said that it really sounded Awesome. Better than then the Shure microphones the KJ has. I even sold my KJ friend on Electro Voice Microphones. I will be buying at least three more of the EV Co 7's for back up microphones. Would I recommend these for all around singing microphones? Yes buy these they are a great Value. ... More

Can't say I have a ton of experience with different mics - have really only used Shure mics up to this point. Picked up a couple of these for the home studio and thus far they have performed wonderfully. Can't speak to durability yet but they certainly don't feel like cheap mics. Plan to pick up a couple more. I also have EV powered speakers and have been very happy with this company to date.

Purchased this product when I saw it was on sale. Wanted a new microphone and had two Shure SM58's. Wanted something cheap just to use at practice for background vocals. This microphone surprised me, for the price you're not getting much bettter and that's the reason I gave 5 stars. I see a lot of people compare this to the Shure SM58 and I do prefer my Shure's, but if you need a mic for band practice and on a budget this is a 5 star mic in my opinion for it.

I purchased this microphone as a spare and a friend let me know that he was having issues with his mic and was thinking about buying a new one. My friend had just purchased a guitar from me and I deceided to give it to him for Christmas. He has let me know it is a great mic and is very happy with it.

it has way more clarity than the 58 and it tends to be cooler as in, it isn't a very hot mic which I also count as a plus. I've been using these for years for solo gigs and busking. I'm also glad it doesn't have a switch. A switch is just another part to add wear and tear to. These things are durable. I really can't believe they're cheaper

I use this mainly for karaoke and some acoustically live persformance. I would definitely buy another one if needed but right its just me and my acoustic guitar. but would definitely my first choice. No need for me to research cause this is it!

Selling point for me was the reviews from Karaoke DJs stating the mic withstands abuse from people dropping it at bars. Great quality and nice sound. I bought another one for when friends come over to jam.
