I've been using many types of drums and decided to buy an acoustic drum kit. On a whim I thought I'd try it on vocals. I have a lot of mics to choose from. SM7b, sm57, sm58a, sm57beta (hate the beta btw), a ton of phantom powered mics, etc... this mic picks up everything. It has a wide field so decided to try it out on vocals just as a joke. I was surprised that it almost felt like a powered mic yet not as shrill as most. It's really a decent mic. Now, it's gonna pick up your guitar, keyboard, farts and things in the next room. No kill switch and it has a lot of gain so be prepared for that. It has a very good tone. Very musical and flattering to my voice. It's a really nice mic and I got a killer deal on it. No regrets and thanks guitar center! ... More

Comparing it a well known SM57 for reference. Not that a 57 is “boomy” or normally used on kick, but the cad doesn’t have quite the thud of kick drum. Somewhere around 80-100 hz it is slightly less. That is good unless you’re mixing bass or kick. On Male vocals (mine anyway), cad is definitely better choice. With mic’ed amp on and running thru PA: On electric clean guitar, cad is slightly brighter to my ears. On distorted guitar, not as much different. Could be from PA and amp in same room. Keyboard: with headphones, Cad, Cad,Cad. Didn’t try it on anything else. They (Cad) went on sale a week after I bought this one, I bought another one. For $30, next time they go for that , I will buy 2 more. ... More

I was so curious about this mic, thinking of using it for our choir, since it's dynamic and doesn't require phantom power, It picks up really nice and even if the gain is high, I don't get feedback compare to condenser mics.

Only had the chance to try this out in the practice room. Compared it to a shure 58 on the vocals, and I plan on trying it on vocals for our next gig. Cant wait to place this on a guitar amp as well. Going to order another right now.

Sounds like a brighter SM57. Great for drum overheads or even snares.

Purchased for live performances, first time out proved this to be a great value without compromise.

Incredible bang for the buck. Only have had a chance to use on toms so far, but I'm very happy with the results. Great compact size.
