I've been engineering records for 30 years. I've used and owned many expensive mics, including the Blue Bottle, which I believe is around 4k new. I was in Guitar Center for an iLok and saw these on display for under $200. I thought, how good can these possibly be, but I was so curious and the price was so ridiculously low I couldn't restrain myself and had to buy one purely out of curiosity. I set it up for some acoustic guitar recording I needed to do, I also added a ribbon into the equation. I powered it through a Summit / Neve mic-pre. My conclusion was that money aside, it was a very usable tone. Had a nice sheen, and the body of the guitar was articulated well. There was none of that midrange groaning or sounding like it was in a washing machine thing going on. Adding the ribbon added a nice organic warmth and bump in the low mids. With that said, had I left the ribbon out, it still would have been a usable tone. Is this mic going to hold up next to a Ref Card or a C12, for most applications probably not, but those mics are well over 10x the cost. But, when you do factor in the price, and that you get a pretty expensive sounding top end (which is usually where all of these cheap mics fail terribly) this is a no brainer. I would even go as far to say that I would have preferred this mic over some mics in the 2k range for certain applications. It's scary how elegant it sounded for the money. This goes to show how far mic technology has gone over the last 20 years....nuts! ... More

Not at all sure what the 1 star reviewer is talking about. They must have either had a faulty mic, or didn't understand what configuration they were in, because I've used a lot of mics at this price range, and this is by far the best one I have ever had the pleasure of using. Crips and clear, not at all noisy. Great boost, nice quality design that feels very stable and sturdy.

Spark SL is a versatile mic that's great for recording everything. My studio setup is pretty minimalist, so I needed a mic that could capture vocals, instruments, and percussion. Spark SL shines on all of these! The sound is neutral and transparent, which is perfect for a workhorse microphone. It's also fairly compact so you can squeeze it in where some other mics might not fit. Spark SL comes in a padded box and includes a high-quality shockmount. Although I sometimes like to remove it from the shockmount and hold it during vocal takes (low-freq rumble be dammed-that's what the roll-off is for anyway!). Spark SL seems like a great entry point into the Blue microphone family. I'm already planning on purchasing another one for stereo recording. Kudos to Blue for an amazing microphone! ... More

I've used the mic on acoustic guitars, electric cabs, drum overheads, and vocals. And it's sounded great on all of them. I wonder if the previous reviewers had the "focus" button pushed? The mic sounds crystal clear, the shock mounts are alright but don't leave your mics in them or the elastic bands will wear out relatively fast, but for $200 these mics are insane. No others in their price range will come close... I'd actually rate them 4 stars but I wanted to help "counter" the 1 star review, haha.

Overall it was a good sounding mic for the price, however like the other comment said there were no mids at all!!! But it does come with a shock mount and a nice case.

I have this Mic paired with a FocusRite 2i2. The sound is crystal clear in my home studio. I was amazed how crispy it sounds for the price I paid. I'm at work currently waiting Anxiously to get home to record

This mic sounds really nice on vocals with decent clarity and balanced eq. Acoustic guitar is a little boomy but not bad. For $200, it is well worth the money and sounds better than other mics in this price range. Construction is pretty solid and it looks cool. A great option in the low cost condenser market.

Sounds incredible......unfortunately now I have to get a better HVAC system because it picks up the furnace and dryer running in the basement!! I have to time things just right now!

Wonderfully warm, easy to set up and easier to use. While messing around with it even tried to just put it infront of an amp to see how it'd pick that up and honestly the recording came back crystal clear and beautiful sounding.

Well the mic. Description says bright clear modern sound and all of that is true but it clips to much even with the pad switch . The other thing is the you can get this same sound with a cheaper. Les expensive sterling mic. I guess it is the vintage look that attracted me .

I read for the longest time that this was a great mic. I saved money and got it. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! It was so noisy that I could not control it even with a gate and the sound quality was not that great. I'd hate to say it was from a bad batch maybe so, but I returned it the next day. Went and got a cheaper 89 dollar AKG P120 wow what a difference Great mic. Tested it on the my acoustic guitar the best sound I have recorded!

Terrible sounding mic. No mid range whatsoever. Sounds totally scooped. Super noisy. The only nice thing about this mic is the box that it comes in. Does not come with shock mount.
