I am a union voice actor and have for the past 12 years, used the Audient family when it came to interface choice. I looked for a long time for a change. Nothing wrong with Audient, all the contrary. But, I got bored and looked at too many reviews and videos. I finally decided to go with the BL 2x2 regardless of what a couple of people on YouTube said about the noise floor. I cannot tell you how glad I am that I bought this. My audient was super quiet and flat, but that's it. It's on par with the majority of interfaces in the price range and does the job fine. This interface, however, takes to a whole other level. It has the same sound as when I step into a multi-million dollar L.A. studio to do a gig. Now, yes, on the wave file on Adobe Audition I can see some noise. But, it doesn't come out at all on the recordings. None! It has got me twice the amount of work that I had with Audient, and at the end of the day, that's what counts for me. Such an amazing interface, and the sound, wow!!! The quality of the build far exceeds that of many that I have used in the past as well. I would dare say that this can go up against ANY interface out there in a professional studio and it will be an incredible asset to any voice-over talent looking to up their game. ... More

This interface will slow your roll on buying a preamp. You will ultimately still need one to achieve high quality sound but you will get close enough with just the interface. I would compare it to the apollo twin with less color. Crisp sound. Zero latency. Once you started trying to track with effects real time things may change but so far with tracking with compression eq and auto tune has been a breeze. XLR inputs on the front and TRS outputs on the back make it a little lacking in immediate functionality but any xlr to trs cable should hold you down. This joint is heavy to be an interface and doesn't feel like plastic. Feels more like a preamp than an interface. Headphone jack is cool I don't have anything else to compare it to besides the laptop that I use and it's better than that. If you have a dynamic mic(sm7b) and you don't have a line booster(cloud lifter) or preamp than you will be cranking the gain up and you will be cranking up the microphone and the interfaces self noise. This will also happen with any 129 or 229 dollar interface that you want. No complaints. When they make a quad things will be even better ... More

This is my first ever piece of line-in(I hope I'm using that right) equipment and it has been phenomenal so far. Using a cheap peavy PV-7 microphone it still picks up my voice so clearly but adds a subtle crispness to it that is so pleasing to the ears. Great internal components too! The capacitors are all super high end and the entire piece of hardware is constructed of solid metal. Im assuming it's a bit heavier than most audio interfaces but I rather really like that. The fact that it also comes with Studio One Artist is sweet too. It's been a great introduction to music production and I'm excited to keep up with it! Overall, it has been a phenomenal purchase and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into any kind of audio recording or music production. ... More

I ordered this with an SSL interface to compare them. Ended up keeping the SSL. The Black Lion build is KILLER but I just like a more neutral sound. This interface sounds kind of oversaturated to me. If that's your preference you'll probably love it.
