I have owned these FOREVER (late 1980's), they are the most durable and greatest sounding phones I have ever had. I use them daily on the laptop, MP3, and regular music and TV listening. Never go anywhere without them. You will easily get 20 years and more out of these, and, with earpad replacement, many more years after that. Great product and value. Comfortable and solid.

I have been using these for 10 years very strong, before they finally gave out. This is my second pair, and it's always the cord that fails in the end. Beyerdynamic needs to do something about this issue, it is a major problem with the construction. Now I have to buy a 3rd pair!

I agree that "UNTIL one day when any low frequency sound began to produce a troublesome rattling - rendering them essentially useless. This wasn't just exceptionally low or high amplitude sounds - even the cello on a string quartet recording would cause prominent buzzing." but it wasnt till i relized it had a lot to do with the way the songs were compressed and the format that the were in that affected the way it sounded. once i listen to them on my stereo and they rocked, no more buzzing, clear and clean.

The frequency response is very accurate. I was amazed to hear how clear it sounded. I previously owned a set of AKG K240s set of headphones, and it was amazing to hear the difference between the 2 sets of headphones. Being a student, we have manyvassignments that require us to be in the studio for hours at a time; and because of the design, you can wear them with out any problems or irritations.

They do studio headphone things. Decent bass and they work great for tracking sessions. I wish the cable was detachable. It would make repairs easier. A solid value and will get used frequently.
