Noise floor issues

So My issue is this... I got the interface to do nice 2-trk at church... I go to a high energy church that does almost everything loud and it has failed me 3 weeks in a row... The way it's built seems to be great! I LOVE THAT PART... when it comes to recording the audio... FLOP! I record everything at lower levels to get a clean mix and when I do so it's NOISE FLOOR! when I record a higher levels a strange static distortion enters and no clip lights even went off... you may say... "it's your gain staging dude!" nope it's not! I have taken care of that from jump... also when I use my focus rite 18i8 I don't have the same issues... (everything is clear and it takes well) if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know... but at this time it's a no go... it might be safer to just use it in my studio... I am gonna run a few trails in studio 2 see how this goes... ... More

We have used this now for about 1 year, including a session with one of the college instructors at my son's school for music recording. Primary use as been a home studio. In short, it has been a good performer for us. We have an entry level mic ($60-70), and a digital piano run through it, have used it for signal to Audacity, Pro Tools, and as the pass through to a set of JVC speakers. On and older cheaper PC we had some distortion issues in signal sent from the PC to the monitoring headphones but that vanished entirely with a newer PC with decent RAM. The playback to the speakers is a bit soft, but that may not be the interfaces fault. Leveling control has been excellent. For the price we have been very happy. Good for Recording to a Chromebook

I wanted to record from the XLR output on the back of my Fender Acoustasonic 40 amplifier to my Toshiba Chromebook. Wasn't sure if this could be done. Used the free Windows recording program "Audacity." To enable the Chromebook to run this Windows program, I used the application program "CrossOver." I was pleasantly surprised that the Behringer UMC202HD was instantly recognized by the Chromebook and works perfectly with this setup. You should be aware that the UMC202HD does not come with any cables. The cables you need depend on how you want to use it. For my application, I needed a USB cable to connect to my Chromebook and a standard XLR microphone cable to connect to the Acoustasonic 40 amplifier output. I LOVE THIS INTERFACE! I bought this to replace another popular interface that failed on me. The unnamed interface is in a more expensive price bracket and failed on me. While I haven't had a ton of time with this interface, I think the value for money is unmatched. It works great, my recordings sound great, and the preamp is wonderful! Even the preamp is better than the more expensive interface that busted on me. I will say that while it feels solidly built, it's not very heavy - I guess I'm throwing this in here in case people are expecting this to feel like a brick. I will say that I did accidentally drop this a short distance (about a foot) onto a hard surface. It still fired up and sounded as it should so I can say confidently that it has some sturdiness to it. ... More

I gave it five stars because of the sheer "bang for the buck." I've been using an Apogee Duet 2 for 9 years and it sounds better than the UMC202HD but it DOES NOT sound $535.00 dollars better. Buy the UMC202HD and put the money you save towards a nice mic.

Latency through windows was pretty bad. Manual is too basic, doesn't cover details of how to set up PC for Good performance. Product registration is much more difficult than it needs to be. It's been over w week, and I still haven't received license codes for promised software. I bought this one because it was so much cheaper than IK AXE I/O just w week before IK launched their vendor deal. I'm starting to regret trying to save some cash.

I went on the hunt for a new interface after my M-Audio became out-dated. After a recommendation from a trusted source, I chose this one. The setup is easy for my MacBook, and the controls weren’t too complicated to get started. Hopefully this will last for some time.

Worked Fine, But Short Life

Designed well and pretty easy to "plug and play." However, unit started having some shorting out issues and headphone jack stopped working ... after maybe 10 uses.
