I am mobile DJ, I dont have too much experience and I dont know a lot about speakers, I wanted to buy two powered speakers easy to carry. I found this speaker as the greatest option for me and my wallet! Mackie and JBL are great companies and YES...they do sound amazing...but the B212D has a great sound and its cheaper. I bought two of these and so far...they put a big smile on my face everytime I use them!... GREAT BUY!

Extraordinarily happy with this speaker.

I actually use this speaker as my guitar amp. Since I play through a Line 6 Pod XT Live amp modeler, I needed something with an absolute flat response, and be crisp and clear enough to hear the subtle differences in the digital cabinet models. I also needed power. Lots of it. I had been using a pair of Alesis M1 Active studio monitors for playing in the home studio or occasionally in a very small venue, and the response was perfect. I had the cleanest signal I could want, but studio monitors are not made for a large stage. Guitar amps were out since they color the signal, I tried a keyboard amp which was a disaster so I made up my mind to buy a powered PA speaker. When I went to Guitar Center, they let me play my rig through the various speakers on the showroom floor there. I played a JBL 15" first, which seemed pretty decent. Definitely had the power. Next I played through the Mackie Thump and it sounded as if someone sliced the high end right out of it. Then I played a Behringer B212D. The clarity of the sound as compared to the JBL and Mackie was so completely obvious from the first chord that I knew I was going to walk out of the store with that speaker. Even the salesman was surprised at the difference, especially considering that Behringer is considered 'lower end'. In any case, I've since used it at many gigs and have been absolutely thrilled with the performance. I can crank it past the level of human tolerance without a hint of feedback and there is almost zero line noise at those high volumes. I do have to turn the bass way down on the EQ as it can 'muddy up' with the bass player. But other than its perfect for what I use it for. If I had one miniscule complaint it would be that it should have a power indicator light on the front so I could tell if it was on or not as I use it on its side as a wedge. ... More

We've been using these speakers for almost a year. They don't disappoint! For small clubs/bars, these will get the job done. Lots of sound w/ no distortion. We usually run the 12"s with a subwoofer for more thump, but since we do karaoke, don't really NEED it. Great by themselves, with a sub, or as monitors for the 15" version

I bought a pair of these for my son, who is trying to start up a DJ biz. Sadly, within two months, the tweeter in one speaker quit working. Don't know if it's the tweeter itself, or the cross-over circuit. I was on hold trying to get to Behringer customer service for more than an hour. Even when I got thru, it took several follow up calls and emails to get an "RMA number" so that I could get the speaker repaired under warranty. Well, that meant getting the speaker to an Behringer authorized service center at my own expense. Happily, there is on in my town, although quite a drive away. When I got there, carrying the speaker, and complained about the difficulty in getting the RMA, they laughed and said I'd actually gotten off easy. Then they said the company was notorious for not providing them with the parts they need to make the repairs. "Sometimes it takes them months," they said. They also indicated they see lots and lots of Behringer speakers and other products with defects and problems. Long story short, the speaker has been languishing for ten weeks at the repair shop, and they still haven't gotten the part. This is an oh-too-familiar example of a firm that offers a great up-front price and clearly doesn't care about building a relationship with their customers, standing behind their warranties, or even pretending to act in an ethical manner. I won't ever buy anything from them again, and invite you to consider my experience when making a purchase choice. ... More

I needed a simple speaker to bring to college for both DJing and just to have for playing music around the dorm. I went in to my local guitar center to check out the Mackie Thump 15" speaker, which was so-so. I talked to one of the sales associates, and he directed me towards the behringer speakers. He told me they had considerably more power, and were a lot punchier than the mackie's, at a lower price. Sounds almost too good to be true, but you lose a little bit in the process- 1- Go to the store and demo the speaker before you buy it. Behringer's tend to have some quality control issues. The first speaker the guy grabbed straight out of the box had a woofer that didn't work. Not a huge deal since it's not the one I bought, but it's an issue. 2- They're good, but they tend to hiss at higher volumes. I notice it because I am used to good quality equipment that has very low noise. It becomes minimal when you have audio playing, but expect a hiss when you have the volume at full and nothing playing. Otherwise, everything has been great with the speaker, it really sounds great, and is extremely loud. Put this on my balcony the other day and one of the neighbors had to use a megaphone to call back and complain! Great speaker, I would definitely recommend it to any beginner or anybody on a budget. If you want really good quality and have a higher budget, definitely spend the extra money and get the better speaker. Nonetheless, this is the best thing you are going to get for your money in this price range. ... More

I was looking for something to substitute having stand alone amplifiers. I play Flute, Guitar, Keyboard, and Bass. The first thing I thought about doing was buying a PA or a Keyboard amp. The sales person introduced this to me as an alternative. I tried this speaker out with a Bass, Guitar, Keyboard, and a Keyboard. It sounded OK, but was begging for an EQ/Pre-amp. Still, it was clear, flat, and loud. I decided to buy an Xenyx 1202FX to use as a mixer/preamp. I took it straight to a gig later that afternoon. I was absolutely blown away by the sound. It has adequate Bass response to use as a small Bass amp, yet have enough frequency response to use for everything else. Especially with the mixer. I used it to mic a flute, sax, and amplify an Ipod. The next day, I used it as a Bass and Keyboard amp. Not once did I have to turn the volume all the way up. As a matter of fact, I had to turn down the lows because it was a little muddy. Muddy, but not distorted! Is this the best speaker in the world...NOPE. Would I recommend this to a Reggae bass player? Nope. However, the value is worth the trade off! This was definitely better than buying a bunch of dedicated amplifiers! For something that weighs only 40lbs it is definitely a hit! ... More

I bought one of these as a monitor for a 4 piece band. We have keyboards, acoustic guitars, and a lot of vocals and harmonies. Not a heavy rock sound. More jazzy and pop. Billy Joel, Eagles, Jazz standards, etc. First, this thing is LOUD. Tons of power. I could probably use a couple of these for our mains for most of the venues we play. However, I probably wouldn't for our kind of music. It is very "thumpy" and bassy. I think this was more tuned for DJ type of music. I had to roll off the bass on the speakers eq to 0...and it was still a little bottom heavy. This speaker is very loud, but I wouldn't necessarily call it all that musical. I gave it 4 stars, because for the price, it is an outstanding value. With the bass rolled off, it worked well as our monitor. The sound dispersion worked perfectly for 3 musicians on stage(we give the keyboardist his own monitor/mix.) I think this could work really well as rock bands main for small venues, and for DJ's. I say small venues, meaning clubs, gyms, ballrooms, etc. It is very loud, so I'm sure it would do well even outside. For the price, it's an outstanding deal. Light, powerful, built extremely well. I have heard that the amps on these things might not last too long, but that might depend on usage as well. Our band will never come close to pushing this thing, and we only play 2-3 times a month. So, I'm thinking it should last longer under those conditions. As a stage monitor, it more than meets our needs. ... More

I just picked up this speaker and put it through its paces. While it's about as good as you can expect a sub-300 dollar system to be, there are several things in the description that could use clearing up. First off, the 550 watts listed is actually the peak wattage - the highest continuous output that this speaker can produce is actually around 280 watts before it starts to break up and sound horrible. Secondly, while this can be largely fixed with some quick EQ tweaks, this is not a good speaker for clear, crisp sound as the bass is extremely boomy, which causes the signal to get slightly muddier. All in all, it's good for the price but as usual you can do better if you're willing to spend more ... More

Buyers take note on any Behringer product! The Eurolive B212D speaker has decent sound quality. It has worked well for a vocal monitor and basic PA for a few years now. The enclosure is on the smaller side which is nice for loading and carrying. Overall I would recommend this as an inexpensive speaker monitor. There are better options if your looking to create a PA system. (the Alto line is superior as a low cost solution) Service on the other hand is unacceptable. Behringer forces all support through their "Care@music" group. In my experience it has been impossible to get a fuse holder replaced. Nobody answers the parts line. I have over 20 hours on hold in the past 4 months (though I have never waited more than 30 minutes at any one time for someone to answer the phone during their business hours but that is not acceptable to me.) There is too much competition these days. If you buy these products you should consider the GC replacement warranty or take your chances. You will NOT be able to get parts for any Behringer product. Unfortunately these products are no longer something I would consider again unless they fix the support channels. ... More

These speakers are popular for a reason. They're inexpensive and good enough. Sound quality is fine, price is the best you'll find. The issue with these speakers is their durability. When it come to Berhinger (any of their products) BUY THE WARRANTY. After the first few weeks of gigging with these things they started buzzing, and after a few months one of them gave out. No big deal though. I bought a new one, and received a reimbursement check from guitar center in a few days. If it weren't for the warranty, I would have rated this product a 1 or 2. But since I can just go pick up a new speaker for $50 (the cost of the warranty) when ever anything goes wrong, it makes them a great buy. Go for better quality if you can afford it. So, Behringer has gotten a bad rap for a while and that should change (although I'm glad that they're not the benchmark brand because then they might raise their prices like all of the other brands out there). I play in a 4 piece rock cover band that plays out 1-3 per month and we use these B212D's as monitors- they cut through our stage volume to allow us to hear vocals, keys, guitar and bass with awesome clarity. Their size and weight makes for easy load in and out of clubs with steps and tight passages. For mains we use the B212's big brothers (B215's) and their fat uncle (B1800D-sub woofer) So as you can see, our whole setup is Behringer. I haven't had to use it yet but I always buy the protection plan for peace of mind. I really think that if you're expecting to blast straight hip hop or sing for a metal band through the B212D's you'll be disappointed but as a monitor or acoustic open mic, you can't beat the price and quality of these. Final thoughts: Buy the protection plan; don't set the level past "2 O'clock" and have realistic expectations out of a 12 inch speaker. ... More
