When I first took this out of the box, I was concerned because I wanted to use it on violins. I didn't realize how easy the mic element slipped out of the windscreen and mounting clip. I purchased the optional AT8468 Violin Mount, which is a simple velcro type sleeve that mounts right above the violin tailpiece. It works quite well together... an affordable alternative to the DPA violin setup I also have. The DPA is best , but the AT is better than a clip on lapel mic.

The Pro 35 mic is a fine bell mic for horns. I am using mine with a tenor and a soprano sax. Positioning is fine for the tenor -- attached to the bell and pointing into it; somewhat less so for the soprano, where the mic is attached to the bell and pointing to the lower keys. The mic's soundscape is neutral and pleasant. Perhaps the one thing I don't like is the rather heavy power module at the end of the mic's cord. It's something that's just waiting to be stepped on and damaged. That said, this is a great mic for the price, no doubt about that at all. ... More

This microphone is great. The only downside is that it uses a 4 prong conector which means it can only be used with other audio technica systems. So this is not the microphone to purchase unless you are intending to use an audiotechnica system. Other then that it is a great microphone for my saxophone

I am using the Pro35 on a fiddle. It sounds more realistic than the popular piezo pickups. However, it is very "present"--it tends to pick up the string/bow noise a bit more than a traditional microphone on a stand. The wire and belt pack transmitter are a bit of a hassle compared to new transmitters with 1/4 direct plug-in.

We are using this with an AT 3000 series wireless mic system to pickup a saxaphone. It clamps to the instrument easily and securely and provides good, clear sound.

I bought this for my clairinet. Does not work. The clip will not open enough wide for it. Works on sax fine. So if you have a clarinet don't waste your money...

Excellent pick up and easy to use. This mic is exactly what we needed to help our solos project over the rest of the swing band.
