Great Mic For a Great Price

I purchased the AT829cW for use with my Audio-Technica ATW-251 FreeWay UniPak lav mic systems, which I purchased off of restock a while back. I do a lot of independent filmmaking for college, and I needed a cheap system to mic my speakers indoors via computer audio interface when I didn't have a someone to man the boom. The mics themselves were a phenomenal deal considering the quality of sound they produced. I've had experience with Shure wireless systems in the past, and while these mics don't have quite as crisp of a pickup, they come pretty darn close!The microphone is sensitive enough to pick up clear audio from underneath a shirt or tie. The build quality is superb for under $ dollars. The mic feels as though it can withstand years of tangling and abuse. The cable is a good length, and the only issue I have with the overall appearance is the silver clip that comes with the packaging. It tends to stick out when I cant hide the mic behind a collar or tie. You can easily replace it with a black one, though.Overall, these microphones work wonders without breaking the bank. Nice well built low cost mic. Did not work well in our application with a speaker who moved their head from side to side while speaking due to the cardoid sensitivity pattern - seems to be a narrow pattern. Should have chosen an omni.

We purchased this microphone for use as an alternative to headworn and handheld microphones with our A-T Freeway series receivers. Usage is by guest lecturers, tournament directors and such several times per year. Daily usage typically is done with a corded microphone from a fixed position. The freeway series provides good performance at reasonable cost and our AT829cW microphone has excellent tone quality and good sensitivity with minimal distortion with no feedback problems, even when the announcer moves near one of the ceiling mounted speakers. We recently began shooting a youtube show, I had the audio technica receiver and transmitter laying around but needed the mic. I chose this route instead of just getting a regular wired lav mic. Overall I'm satisfied with the quality of the audio I get, it may not be the clearest but it's very useable. My only complaint is the mic seems very fragile, at the connector it's very easy to twist and feels like it could come apart if you're not careful.

I use it with a UniPak transmitter as a component in a portable public address system. I plugged it into the transmitter and it worked immediately. It works well and consistently. I instruct the users to clip it on so that the microphone is as close to the user's voice box as feasible. That way the volume doesn't much as the speaker moves her head up and down. It works well. Works OK, has finite lifetime

After about 300 hours of use over 3 years, the connector that goes into the body pack became noisy clicked when user moved, so we bought a new one. These things work as advertised, with some bass rolloff, but they have a finite lifetime. Cable is not the best. If you want better, for way more money, buy a Countryman.

We use this mic to amplify the voices of chefs giving demonstrations at our outdoor farmers market. Our wireless AudioTechnica setup originally came with a headset mic, but many of our chefs found it uncomfortable and ungainly, and refused to use it. The lavalier mic is much more acceptable, and is working well for us. It comes with a windscreen, but if the wind is from the wrong direction, there can still be some background noise. Not a showstopper.

Our preachers use the wireless mic system made by Audio-Technica and have been very happy with them except for the cable's tendency to break at the connection to the body pack. BH Photo offers the replacement mic for less than anybody else online or otherwise. I bought two replacement mics for only 2/3 the cost of one mic locally and I would have had to wait for it to be ordered and delivered anyway! Way to go BH Photo!!! Haskell Hallmark, Minister

Two thumbs up. Mic sounds very natural. Pickup pattern accomodates speech even when head is turned to side (when mic is placed in standard under chin positions, like second shirt button etc). Cable just long enough to place where you want it, even on large, tall talent. Handle both cable ends with care. No twisting, catching, pulling or bending and this mic should perform well for you for a long time. Our church congregation is very happy with this. No more cludgy ear/cheek mic!

While these microphones provide great pickup and frequency range, they lack in construction. You must take great care in storing the cable while not in use. Of couse this is true for all cables, but I found this to be more common with this model. All in all is a good mic for the price, something you would expect from AT.

This mic was purchased as an exact replacement for two identical models that became intermittent after about 10 years of use. So I expect that this one will have a finite life of about 10 years. They work great while they work.

OEM product at a good price. I have been using this microphone type for years and use it at least three to five times a week. This purchase was for having spares on hand, because the small wires in the cable sometines break causing static or drop out due to harsh handling by the user or my sound people.

Seems well made and the audio quality is good. I saw some reviews that said the cable is weak. It might last as long as my more pricey Lav mics but just got it so time will tell. I also wish it came with a black clip instead of the large silver one. The mic element itself is on the larger size. Overall not bad for price.

Purchased the AT829cW for my 2000 series body pack transmitter. This model appears to be the stock mic which is exactly what I wanted since I originally purchased the guitar adapter. It was speedy to arrive and was in good packaging. I plugged it into my body pack transmitter and it worked perfectly. Sharp sound, little to no feedback. Couldn't ask for a better purchase.

This replacement mic works better than expected. Purchased this replacement mic for a church I work with. The wire on the original mic frayed and stopped working. They were using a head-worn mic as a lavalier and when the original mic failed, I decided to replace it with this mic. The lead pastor was more than pleased with it's performace.

I use this product with my high school marching band. This mic runs great, has excellent battery power, and is always reliable. This microphone has been used in rain (with the source and amp covered) and in wind and has always had great results. The sound you get is not as great as a high end mic, but for the price you are really getting an excellent product.

Im sure it may sound great but description claims 4.6 cable connector and its easily 2.5. Unusable for my profession.

This is a professional lapel microphone that works great. I have several of these and would gladly recommend them for use with Audio-Technica wireless transmitters. My only complaint is that the clips and the foam windscreen come off easily and are easy to loose.
