Bought it and using it as an alternative large diaphragm condenser microphone for vocal and acoustic recording. Definitely a difference in character of sound and quality as compared to staple SM 58 Shure. Good with details and such. One slight gripe may be the limited peaking capacity. the -10dB pad is there but I personally don't believe that I should be using it most of the time. Loud recording applications may feel some limitations, however its value to performance ratio is a definite plus. Good well rounded function and use so far! If you're using it in the home studio make sure you have some isolation proofing done b/c it will pick up the echos. (and also thin window pane means you'll get car traffic noise picked up in this thing - very sensitive!) ... More

I run a PRO-TOOLS VO studio in Coral Springs, Florida. I record VO's for sales presentions, comercials, movie opens, movie sound tracks, cartoon's, etc. Depending on the announcer, I normally use a Neumann TLM170, AKG 414, Sennheiser MD421, MXL V88 or the MXL tube V69 as my normal mics for a VO session. On a receint session I mounted the AT2035, as soon as the announcer opened his mouth I knew I had picked the right microphone for that particular session!!! A great mic sold to me by B&H Photo, at a great price!!! -----------------------------------------------------

B&H bundled this XLR microphone at a discounted price with everything you need, and overall, it is solid package-- Audio-Technica AT2035 Mic, ATH-M20 Headphones and the Tascam US-322 Interface Kit. This mic deservedly receives positive reviews on the internet. The mic stand can support the weight of the mic when the boom is mostly extended. Overall, this package should meet the needs of users who need to have higher quality audio for a single person podcast or online video commentary.

This is exactly what I needed to start my own podcast. It has all the equipment you need - mic + holder, stand, headphones, cables, pop filter, adapter, and the setup is easy. I attached the stand to a bedside table, snapped on the pop filter, attached the mic holder to the arm, added the mic, connected the cables, and plugged the USB into my laptop and was ready to record. Paired with a free download of Audacity, this is all that you need to record and edit voice audio. Highly recommended.

I've been a VO actor for 6 years and knew I was in need of a new microphone. I was nervous about the way that my voice would sound on this mic without testing it myself, but I did my research and decided on this mic. I was so happy that this came in a bundle with things that I also wanted to buy and that the price was perfect. The whole thing was really easy to set up and I absolutely love how my voice sounds now in my recordings. Looking forward to booking more VO work.

I definitely recommend the AT2035 for anyone just starting home recording, on a limited budget, and want quality sounding tracks. I've used this mic with excellent results coupled with an SM57 for guitar cabinets, alone for both acoustic and vocals, and am pleasantly surprised with the sound. I've seen reviews where people have had problems with the shockmount but, so far so good here!!!

The AT2035 is a very decent home recording option, especially in the price range. I have used it primarily for acoustic guitars and vocals, and I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I am getting a clear, crisp sound, especially on the guitar. The construction of the mic is very solid, and the included shock mount is nice, but it could be a little more rugged. My only complaint is that the mic doesn't come with a beefier case - the softcase it comes with won't really protect it from anything - but this is a very minor concern.... ... More

I use this to record voice over at my home studio. I love the warm sound it picks up. I have a low rumble in my voice and it picks that up very cleanly. This mic works best from about 6 - 10 inches away. It also has great rejection from the sides and back.

Very pleased with this mic. Very versatile, good overall sound for a killer price. Im using it both for voice and acoustic guitar. I would recommend this to anyone putting together a home studio. After the $30 mfg rebate came to less than a hundred bucks. What more can you ask. Don't spend $$$ unless you really have the dough. I own a Blue Bluebird and when comparing it I can see a noticeable difference especially in the top end but then again it's in a different price range altogether. I am giving it 5 stars due to performance for the price. Oh, i almost forgot, the mount (like most of AT mounts) are not so good but will do the job. ... More

Its a reliable mic that gets the job done but for me personally, I am very unpleased with it. I am in the process of upgrading to the AT4040 becasue this mic lacks the ability to pick up the upper end clarity I desire from my vocals.. I use my mics specifically for recording rap vocals (@PHILTHY9FIFTY) and prior to this I was using an AT2020 primarily and this is honestly just a more expensive AT2020 with a shock mount included with the low end freq cutoff as a bonus.. I shouldn't have expected a major leap in performance moving from the AT2020 to the AT2035 which is why I am being fair and giving it a 3 out of 5 rather than a 1 or a 2.. But I personally recommend you professional musicians who take your music seriously and want to make this a life long career, this is NOT the mic for you! When you begin layering vocal tracks, even with proper EQ and mixing, you will quickly be frustrated by muddy cluttered sounding vocals.. Trust me. ... More

Can't say how it compares to more expensive mics because it's the most expensive one I own, but vocals recorded thru it have been played on the radio, so it does what it should. Very sensistive; every lip smack, etc., gets picked up, so pair it with a metal "pop" screen. A good buy.

This microphone brings out all the subtle details of an acoustic instrument or voice. Although it has a cardioid pickup pattern, it picks up two voices very nicely on a video call, better than with a typical dynamic mic. If you want to be kind to your audience don't rely on the microphones built into laptops or video cameras. My Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 provides phantom power, monitoring and a digital interface with my laptop. I prefer a single audio interface with quality preamps over a mic with USB interface. The shock mount works beautifully. A pop filter is a useful accessory but not always necessary. ... More

Worth the upgrade from the AT2020. For the amount you would spend on a shock mount this was an easy buy. The padding switch will cut out most background noise (except air conditioning noise).

I bought a bunch of low end mics and compared them all. I like this one for upright bass, vocals and as a general 'mic anything' mic. It can really color the sound of electric guitar amps which may be good or bad... but for anything else I really like it. It doesn't sound as harsh or distorted as other cheap mics. Also definitely the best of the AT20xx series. The 2050 seems to have a lower output, and the 2020 doesn't have the pad and low cut and didn't seem quite as good on bass when I tried it. Its just my opinion though. The best way is to try mics out for yourself. ... More

If you want to impress people with a big mic on your desk like a late night talk show host, this mic is not for you. If you want great sound on a small budget, you will be happy with this well built gem. I use it for video conferences through a Scarlet box, and for recording videos with a Sony FS100. The shock mount appears to be strong although it is plastic. The mic is heavy and feels like it will hold up well under daily use.

Great sounding condenser microphone. I was very impressed with not only the overall sound of the unit but also the quality of materials used in the manufacture of the mic. When I get ready to buy some more microphones; I will seriously consider moving up to the next level of Audio Technia mic products.

Overall I think it's a good microphone. I noticed however, whenever I sang lower notes (below E4 - E above middle C), it sounds boomy, and it gets even worse when I play the CD in my car (even when the High Pass Filter switch is on). Using soundforge I equalized my vocal track and now it sounds very nice.

This microphone has a solid metal build that feels like it can take a beating, it's low noise, the omni- derectional response is great, I barely hear background noise(keep gain low) in very unideal rooms. I would recommend this mic to anyone, even if you are considering one of the more expensive mics, like the Nta Rhode, I would also recommend checking this out as well.
