The sound is gorgeous. The DI is gorgeous, and the pre's are gorgeous and do the gorgeous analog overload thing when pushed (roll back gain if you don't want it it). The I/O (alt monitors, stereo send/return while bypassing the pre's, optical), the full compliment of pad, invert, rolloff, discrete phantom power per channel, dim/cut. The software can be set and forgotten. The function keys made me wonder how I ever did without them. What else could you even ask for? This device heralds some kind of Golden Age of digital audio. And it's got soul. Worth far more than it's being sold for, but I am so very thankful for the pricing. ... More

I have this connected to an iMacPro and Yamaha HS5 studio monitors, and will be using it for monitoring audio mixes for video production. While there are smaller systems, I went with the iD22 because it gives me flexibility for recording with multiple inputs. The hardware is sturdy (the dials could use a tiny bit more tactile weight resistance, but are great quality components) and the software installation was fairly easy. The routing setup is a bit tricky, but the pdf manual helped me get it working. Once you have it working, you don't need to touch the inputs much. There are a few things to note about the build- The 1/4 I/O points are close together. This means that you cannot easily adapt 1/4 to XLR because the adapters will collide. Keep that in mind when you are ordering the correct cables for your monitors. Just stick to 1/4. In the software, in settings the routing UI could use an update to make it a bit easier to understand. At first, it was a bit of a guessing game. It is easy to see that Audient takes true pride in their products, QC and audio quality. The result is a perfectly clean studio sound. I was immediately delighted by the refreshing sound quality this product produces. ... More

The iD22 has amazing A/D and D/A abilities, the preamps are super clean, it's very quiet, and feels rock solid. The rotary wheel is also a pleasure to use. I was intending to buy a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface, but I upped my budget a little to get this used and it was the right choice. I got te iD22 for freelance voiceover work, although I hope to also use it for recording music demos and small live sessions. I considered Apollo models but the higher prices didn't seem justified for my needs. My Aston Origin sounds lifelike through it, but I have to drive the preamps pretty hard for acceptable levels. I'm not entirely sure my power supply is meeting the needs of the iD22 so this may not be the device's fault. The comnination is still perfectly usable and has proven itself by excelling in every test I've thrown at it so far. With ADAT allowing expandability in the future, I expect this to be the center of my setup moving forward - instead of an acceptable interface that would need to be entirely replaced (or use some exotic and expensive workaround) in the future. Highly recommended. ... More

I really appreciate the relative simplicity of this well thought out product. I do voiceover and recorded stories for the radio, I love the high quality preamps and the headphone amplifier. What's more is there are actual switches! Not multifunction menus and too many features that I'm not interested in and don't want to pay for. The id22 is the perfect base for a professional sounding home recording studio.

This is my 2nd upgrade, from the bottom of the barrel, to the quintessential Scarlet series, to the id22. This is the first thing that really opened up my ears to the real difference high quality preamps and converters can make. Hugely noticeable difference in the noisefloor of my voiceover recordings, and in the detail I'm able to hear when mixing. I frequently work in a studio fitted with an SSL console, and I think this interface is about as good as it gets without investing in a system that costs several thousand dollars.

Super stable, great sound, and great price vs. value. A huge selling point for this box is having the ability to truly bypass the internal pres and add an external pre if you’d like. That’s not to say the built in pres aren’t good, but no one else is offering the ability to do that in this price range. The convertors are super good too. It would be cool if it had an additional headphone jack, but that’s not worth deducting a star for. Just a suggestion to Audient.

Outstanding little unit, better that I expected. And it's built like a little tank! Flexible routing features, clean and fast mic pre's, real knobs and switches, inserts across the two inputs (you can bypass the pre's if you want) and expandable up to 10in 10out. I don't know of any other unit this size that can do as much and sound this good.

This thing is a major upgrade from the focusrite I was using. Super user friendly, built like a tank, all the needed controls are right on the front panel, connects readily with my Mac once the drivers are downloaded, aaaaaaand it sounds PROPERLY GOOD! I'll be using this for years to come!

Lowering the cost of a full 8 chanel adat expansion on an interface and providing conversion if this quality and interface preamps this good was a masterstroke by audient. The new windows compatibility firmware is amazing and works out of the box.

Review is more about the seller. Was sold to me as brand new but clearly wasnt(scratches/ware). Preamps were busted and gave barley any signal. DI input full of noise and static. Took a week for them to even respond and only after I contacted reverb and they sent them 2 diff messages as well. Got a refund and bought a actual new one from sweetwater and it's been great.

had the unfortunate experience of having all the lights on the unit come on and stay on, and when tried to receive help from tech support at audient, they simply said "this would usually indicate an issue with the XMOS (brain) inside the interface." and offered no follow up or support after that. Not worth the money, and they don't seem too worried about standing behind their unreliable products.

I recently upgraded from the Focusrite Forte. Superior AD-DA. Superior pre-amps. I have no regrets ... significantly more detail on my Adam F5s.

Coming from a faulty Clarett (yep, another one) My studio now lives around and through the id22. Great great sound quality converters. Even plain spotify sounds amazing. mono and mid/side monitoring are a great feature.
