I had the milti mix 4 for a small animation studio that I have at home, so I just bought this for use in a small video production studio at my day job and it really does the job. It has 4 XLR inputs, phantom power, and it was priced so low that I thought it was too good to be true. It's easy to use and gives me an acceptable level of quality.

I bought the Alesis as an inexpensive way to record guitar tracks using Cuebase on my computer. I had many issues with background noise, and most notably a severe latency issue (with USB interface) while my instrument was plugged direct into the mixer. For some reason the playback was a couple of seconds late. I tried decreasing the latency in my program, but it would not make a difference. Even tried downloading different audio drivers. Alesis support did admit to the issue, but was no help in finding an acceptable solution. As the saying goes; "You Get What You Pay For". ... More

This mixer is ideal for home studio. The USB to monitor function is great, for recording when you are listen a recorded track. This function routes the sound of your computer through the mixer, to your monitor/headphone system. You can record two tracks at the same time. Maybe will be great to have more options for more simultaneously recording tracks.

Product is very good, at a even better price. The only problem i had is tech support for it. Scarce if any at all. Make sure you completely understand how to use this before you buy it. Dont expect a lot of support.

I really like the mixer. I use it with final cut pro and it does the job. Perfect size and great functions.

I bought this to have as a small bedroom/studio mixer and recording to my PC. It has enough inputs for my needs, and a small footprint. Knobs are plastic, so just be careful, but I won't be moving it from place to place so I think it will be fine for my needs. Effects do what they say, although not a rack of course. I find them fine though.

I've had this board for about two years now. It's been used to record via the USB interface, for lots and lots practice time, and a handful of live performances. It has held up wonderfully, I get great sound out of it, and the effects are worthwhile. For the price, I honestly couldn't ask for more.

I purchased this item last year well into the Windows 8 life cycle and I cannot get it to work with the Windows 8 operating system. I've tried two different Windows 8 computers and just can't get the sound to come through to my computer. I've tried to contact Alesis support and have heard nothing back from them in two days. I'd love to rate this higher but based on functionality that does not work and responsiveness of their support I can only give it two stars. Frustrated Buyer.

I use it to record musical ideas also to check how are we playing to fix details and it works fine for it, even I carry it to gigs. I use other brand when I want to record several channels at the same time to remix or fine tune.

I use this product every week for a weekly podcast. I started with a smaller model and upgraded to this current product for more audio inputs. This mixer is easy to work with and I'd recommend this to any up incoming audio professionals.

This little mixer is exactly what you expect for the price. The onboard effects are only good for that mastered reverb or flanger effect. Not really going to do much else with them. inputs and outputs seems stable. knobs all seem solid. Great thing at this price point.

What a disappointment this purchase was. Had the Alesis FireWire multi mix with multi track recording. This USB version does not do that. Trying to record bass directly into the USB mixer sounds horrible. This is Fisher Price equipment. I do not recommend, there are millions of other options out there that will take up less desk space and have better sound quality. What a waste!

I bought this mixer to play acoustic shows. I used it for about 30 minutes before it made a horrendous sound, every light was lit, and smoke started coming out of it. It quit working completely and smells like the insides are melted. I will be returning it tomorrow.

This mixer/recorder is great for a variety of tasks. I use it primarily for recording. Only took a few hours to learn how to use.

Alesis made some changes in this newer model and they were not for the good. The older unit ( same model number ) is so much better. The overall sound in this new version of the MultiMix 8 USB FX is not as good as the older model, especially in the Bass area....

It does what it is supposed to do. There are a dozen similar ones out there, but this is the only one that had channel inserts. I mostly use it for a drum submixer, and I need to insert a compressor and multi-band EQ on the kick and snare. PERFECT! Quiet, too.

I bought this for a small video production suite to replace an 8 track Mackie board. It has all the same features, plus effects built in, plus a USB connection, and it sounds great. Hard to believe the price is so low!

This unit was recommended to me. And ive used other alesis products in the past. I think this unit would of been better if it had its own driver. But it was designed to run off your computers sound card . bad design.

I just needed a four mic input desk for remote rehearsal. This thing is totally fine for that. I wouldn't expect it to have that warm musical feel of a more high-end board. It is what I bargained for and therefore am completely happy with my purchase.
