So far, I've been very impressed by the 702s. I listen mostly to classical music and these headphones, to my ears at least, produce a very natural, detailed sound. As other reviewers have already mentioned, I think this will only improve with more burn-in time and a dedicated amp. These headphones also offer excellent value. With the right amp, I think the 702s could probably rival much more expensive stereo rigs.

These have been a godsend for me. I don't have any decent speaker monitors, and all I was using for reference and mixing was a pair of old AT-30s, which now sound so muddy by comparison. Yes, the bass response is a little lacking in the K702s, but since getting to know them better, and using them to listen to reference tracks, my mixes are coming out way cleaner with much more subtle mixing. I only subtract one star for the slightly stiff pads (still better than anything before) and the lack of sub bass. Get a good preamp and you'll be pleased. ... More

The left channel just cut off and stopped working. I had the headphones for 1 week. This is the most important design feature of a headphone: the cables have to stay intact- otherwise.. what use is the rest of the apparatus? NO GOOD. Do NOT BUY. I've had so many studio monitor headphones throughout my life, and none of them have ever been this fragile. I expect headphones to last at least 1 year, ideally 5 years. But 1 week.. it's a scam.

The AKG K702 headphones are comfortable enough and seem reasonably well-made for this price point. I have no issues with the build quality but the sound is not for me. Admittedly, I like speakers/headphones that lean to the warmer side but wanted something a bit more open and revealing than the Sennheiser HD650. Unfortunately, the AKG K702 are too cold and bright for me. While they do emphasize small details especially in the high frequency region, they sound musically lifeless. Additionally, there is near zero low frequency response. The K702s play very light in the mid and bottom ends. I tried driving them with multiple amps which did make the sound somewhat different but their inescapable sonic DNA is not for me. Too bad, I had such high hopes. Back to the Sennheiser HD650s. ... K702 is a pair of very clean sounding headphone compare to SR60. You can hear subtle sound and individual instrument more easily on K702. Bass on K702 is a little bit less weight than SR60 but it's punchy enough. The human voice on K702 will not be as popped out as SR60 but it sounds more natural and realistic. I am not using any headphone amp. The sources are laptop/desktop/NAD320Bee. K702 sounds much better on 320bee.

I have a really great stereo but needed to be able to listen quietly. Never had a really nice, quality set of 'phones before so I had the opinion that I did not like them. Wrong! Great new music experience. Maybe a new headphone amp, audiophile cord, ...

These are the most expensive headphones I've purchased, by a $200 margin. If these did not sound better than any I'd heard before, I was going to be unfathomably irked. But I was not expecting them to sound as good as they do. It's like a whole other ball game from anything else I've tried. And they are so comfortable, I can wear them for hours at a time. They have opened my eyes (ears?) to a new kind of aural excitement.

Hands down, the best headphones. Sound is crisp, clear, and forward. Great for technical listening, but also great for everyday listening. Bass is true, without being too overbearing. Sound stage is huge. Requires some burn-in time, after which the bass sounds very nice. At 62 Ohms, these headphones require more power than a laptop or mobile phone can provide. Recommend using a dedicated DAC, like the Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS. Overall, highly recommended.

I use these headphones for rock and jazz and they are superb for both.Very punchy bass, clear treble and an upper register that sings, I'd recommend to anybody and they're still in their burn in period. If you're looking for high end headphones that are comfortable for long hours and sound amazing, these are for you...

The 702s are an excellent product for the money but be sure to use a headphone amplifier or you may as well buy a cheaper headphone as you will not be experiencing these the way they were designed to be experienced. I use the 702s for instrument tracking but may use them as reference headphones during the mix as well due to their sound stage representation.

I love these AKG K702 headphones. Light weight and easy to wear. The sound is accurate and a fabulous way to track your recordings. I also use them for mixing reference. They're a great addition to your tool-set no matter what kind of recording / mixing you're doing.

This is probably the most comfortable headset I have ever worn. I find that most headsets make me want to rip my ears off after a couple of hours, but these are superb. The sound quality is great, too. This is an outstanding quality piece of gear.

Ive wanted these for a while. Ive always been a fan of AKG. the 702s are great reference headphones. you can hear things you have never heard before with cheap headphones. it does take a burn in time of 300hrs or more. the sound quality is accurate and clear. great cans, just hope AKG releases another flagship model instead of releasing the Q line

Lets you hear everything (good and bad)so that you can properly mix your recording and see what you really sound like. They are very objective and do not color the sound. The response is very crisp. Comfortable for long periods. Very good build quality.

These are very good quality headphones. They are a very good buy. I use them on my PC mostly for Gaming, listening to music while working and sometimes on my home stereo system to enjoy the best of my headphones. They are quite comfortable, the weight is well balanced. The only thing is the little bump on the strap mark my skull due to my lack of hair. All in all I am very please with my new headphones.
