I bought these to try after finding my Sennheiser 598SE's were just not accurately presenting my mixes - they added a ton of low-end mud. These are much more clear and even. Not really hefty on the low end, but accurate to my hearing.

Great sound right out the box. Powerfull but detailed bass, highs not harsh and a lovely midrange. Better after run in period. Very high quality materials and awesome looks. I will buy it again if needed.

Flat and accurate frequency response. Lacking heft to the low frequency response but work extremely well for dialing in the mid-range and stereo image during mixing and mastering. A very revealing sound though, so be prepared to hear all of your weaknesses.

Exceptional headphones that I can wear for hours on end with little to no ear fatigue. The frequency response is unimpressive, meaning they do exactly what they're intended to do: nothing but reproduce the signals exactly as they were recorded. No exaggerated frequencies. This makes them perfect for mixing.

the midbass on these headphones is like nothing i have heard before. Quite detailed with a non-fatiguing overall signature.

I listen to organ music which has a huge range of dynamics. The lows ( 16 htz) are clean and clear with no drop off. I was going to invest in an expensive audio system but these are better.

The made in Austria K701s are my new favorite headphones! I have added the AKGs to my stable of Grado sr60 and sr325, HiFiman 400s, and Sennheiser 598s. The K701s driven by my Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 is delightful to wear and hear. No buyers remorse here!

I use this headphones on a daily basis and they are plug into McCormack micro headphones drive (basically, a 5-Watt per channel amplifier with a IC gain stage and discrete bipolar output stage)The good thing is that there is a lot of details, which are presented very natural without being thrust at you. On the negative side, those headphones are not musical as the Sennheiser 600 and the 650 - probably as a result of a very lean upper bass and lower midrange. The music just don't have drive as a result of that frequency response.also, they are a little too tight on the head - again, compare with the Sennheiser's ... More

Honestly, I hear tones and subtleties I never knew were there. Volume is a bit rough above a certain level but, at low to medium volumes, these phones really illuminate the truth of the instrument.
