This is a great little mic. The sound is amazing and it only uses a single AA battery, which I have not changed since buying about three months ago. I normally keep the receiver backstage. The only downside to this package is that the reveiver only has 1/4" outputs, which means unnessesary converting =( The receiver has a On/Off switch on the front and clip and range lights. If the mic is out of range, the green RF OK light will turn off. There is a volume knob on the front of the receiver which is very helpful. I have used this mic for events ranging from small meetings to shows with an audience of about 800 people. All vocals have been great. Thank You AKG for a great, inexpensive microphone! Bottom line: I would definitly recommend this Wireless Microphone package to a friend. ... More

Like many others who have reviewed this little system, I have to say I wasn't expecting much for the price - but I am more than happy with the AKG WMS 40 Mini. Quality is similar to the Perception series, but with quite a bit more mid high response. Great for male vocalists, but for higher ranges you may find yourself pulling back on the mids quite a lot. Good bass response and the highs are crisp. Fixed frequency/Single diversity, but we've had no reception issues so far and we work some pretty big clubs with multiple mic sets. I doubt battery life is what they claim (is it ever?). 30 hours? Really? Maybe in standby mode... we'll see! I purchased this mic for my karaoke business, but have been a professional musician and recording studio owner for over 25 years, so I'm not easily impressed. It's not digital, but it is UHF and the 600mhz frequencies aren't due to be taken in my area any time soon, so this was a great deal! I almost wish I had gone for the dual channel set, it would have been totally worth it. ... More

I picked one of these up before DJ/Emceeing a wedding when I was short on cash and time. I was very impressed with the performance of this mic. The officiant did not want to hold the mic during the ceremony, so I had it in a stand about a foot and a half to one side. It picked up the officiant as well as the bride and groom just fine. The reception hall was long and narrow and my booth was in one corner, but the mic came in clear from the complete opposite corner with no static. The receiver has a metal case, however the microphone body is only plastic, so I feel I will have to watch out for it being dropped, or it getting scratched up going into the mic clip. On that note, it did not come with a clip (and the mic body is larger than a standard mic) nor a 1/4 inch patch cable (1/4 inch is the only output, no XLR), so be ready to spend an extra 10 to 15 bucks on accessories. Nevertheless, you're getting great value and performance for the price. ... More

this is the most impressive UHF microphone system that I have ever seen for under $300. I tryed it in the store and it worked great, and ended up using it the night that I bought it. The clarity is FANTASTIC, there is no interference at all, and the range is so long, i have not yet had an event that it cut out, so i really don't know how far it can really go. The microphone looks good and feels good, only powered by one AA battery, and it is tough. The receiver is cased in metal and takes up a tiny amount of space compared to similar systems. The antenna is road-ready and the whole system has an unbeatable price. Do not even look anywhere else, this is the perfect system for anyone! ... More

This Is a very good mic, for the price you cannot find a better mic. Very Nice Sound very low noise as long as you hold it right. Output is a 1/4" plug but it is balanced, use a TRS to A XLR cable,If You don't have one you can use a quitar cable as long as it is shielded it will work fine, the trs cable you use should also be shielded. It comes with a two year warranty you can't get that with other mics for this price range,If you need a wireless mic buy this one I haven't had it long enough to comment on rellabillty, but it looks well built so don't worry. Hey guys! I've owned 4 AKG wireless Mics in the past and they have all been a great product! I run A Mobile DJ Service and this AKG Mini Wireless is perfect for the job. I was kind of worried about how it would sound because it was such a cheap price but it really surprised me!!! It's crisp and clear and you don't have to worry about any static interruption!!! It's also very small and so easy to hookup!!! I'm getting ready to order another one just to have as back-up. The best feature about this Mic in my opinion is that it only takes one DOUBLE-A battery. I also like that you don't have to sync up the mic like others, just plug-in and you are ready to go. Don't let the cheap price fool you!!! AKG has done it again! Thanks for a great product!!! ... First of all I have been using wireless mic's for awhile and I never have been so disappointed in a wireless system I can't believe the great reviews I'm seeing on here everyone must work for the guitar center. The Mic has so much feed back that you can't even turn it up I'm using powered JBL speakers maybe you have to have a cheap system to have the AKG system to work I only gave one star because I didn't see zero

Easy setup with simple connections and its small size is very nice. Plug in the base unit, turn it on and then turn on the mic -- that simple. Base unit seems to be built sturdy and should last a long time. Simple controls for on/off and volume. Lights tell you when it on and connected. Microphone is the weak part and that is party due to it being all plastic. Feels cheap but does function well. Vocals through the mic are mostly mid to upper frequencies. Compared to standard wired mics, the AKG is lacking in lower frequencies. I'm a bass/baritone singer and readily notice the bass being weak. Still very usable but not as good as a wired mic. I knocked off 1 star due to the all plastic mic and the lack of bass. ... More

Bought this unit at a great sale price, online. Intended to use it for a church setting. Had horrible feedback every time it was plugged in to our sound system. Tried EVERYTHING to stop the problem, to no avail. Item could not be replaced, because the local store didn't even carry it. Was told it is an "ONLINE ONLY," item. The 800 # was no help, and the local store employees said they had no idea about the product. Finally just got a refund.

i bought this mic to MC a MMA event, and was going to use it strictly as an announcer's mic. when i got it there and plugged it in, there was so little gain, i had to turn the channel all the way up JUST to get a signal. the signal was distorted and weak, yet when you tapped the mic on the case or screen anywhere, it boomed so loudly, the speakers would flap. either this mic is garbage, or i got a faulty one. needless to say, i had to use a cabled mic for the night's event...very disappointed. ... I bought my wife a Karaoke machine for Christmas which was two 1/4 microphone inputs on it. I was thinking how cool it would be to have wireless mics so people could hand them off as songs changed, instead of being limited by a cord, and having to swap seats. The WMS40 fit the bill PERFECTLY. I was a little concerned, with the low price, that the quality wouldn't be there, but the system is static free and sounds GREAT! I used balanced 1/4 cables (pulled from patchbay) to connect the microphone base unit to the Karaoke machine. The distance from the singers to the base unit is under 30 feet so I can't speak for the range of the unit. ... More

I purchased this just to see if the battery life was as it was advertised, and I'm impressed. 1 single double AA batter lasts 20+ hours of use. The unit goes silent when not receiving a signal which is nice and the mute and on/off or external making it easy to operate. I'm purchasing 6 for my backup singers, and it's nice to have operation free. 1 thing is the mid's are over pronounced so the EQ to flat is strange but it works great, otherwise you'll have feedback as your volume increases.

I bought this hoping it would work as a simple solution to have a remote microphone for our R/C club. Unfortunately, while it seems to work okay, as soon as the microphone is switched off, there is nothing but static coming out of the receiver. We will be unable to use this for its intended purpose, as the microphone would have to stay on, and on Mute, all the time. With the switch recessed, it is easy enough to turn it Off instead of to Mute, which would blast static over our loudspeakers. Needless to say, I am returning this. This is the first time I've had to return a product from B&H. ... More

I purchased the AKG WMS40 mini as a secondary system. I currently use the Shure BLX24/SM58. I am blown away of the quality and sound from the AKG WMS40. It sounds better than the Shure mics I have uses and doesn't have the interference like some of the mics i have used. The specs say max distance is 65ft. I have pushed the mic all the way to 150 and no drop out. Sounds the same if you are 5ft or 150ft away. This is now my primary wireless mic system. Well done AKG!

My band's bassist recently sold me on the idea of wireless systems, so I went out the next day and ordered the AKG WMS-40 Mini. So far, so good—I walked all around a small building with it active and didn't experience any signal breakup or sound issues. Also tested at very close range and didn't encounter any problems. Can't speak for large venues. Now I don't have to worry about tripping over a cable when I get really into it on stage! The only thing I could think to complain about is how the jacks on the cable rattle around a bit, so I may secure them with some clear nail polish. ... More

You get what you pay for. It will work Dj'ing, and pumping up the crowd, it will fail you miserably when Auntie has to make a speech about her wonderful nephew. The mic was just a prop, I turned it all the way down because it was so bad, good thing the acoustics were good, the room was small, and no one noticed. Sorry AKG, I really like your stuff, just not this mic.

The unit has too much static every time the power switch is turn on/off. The unit produces static noise when in power off mode. I tried a couple of times to test using different mixers but still having the same issue. Too much static noise. The switch is the problem. When powered on, the unit works fine but the moment you switch to power off that's when the static noise begin and it is really annoying.
