I got it a few days ago and have recorded piano and sax with it using an SM57. This little interface sounds great. Im very happy with it, super easy to use and with my Mac to it is completely plug and play. Also makes for a very nice desktop DAC.

Since this purchase was my first foray into digital recording, I spent time researching comparable products and the accompanying software packages. I decided on the Steinberg UR242 because of the reviews of their preamps, four separate inputs, and the price. B&H had the product in stock when other vendors did not, and they offered free next day shipping. I received the UR242 from B&H as promised. Installation of drivers and software went flawlessly, and the UR242 works as I expected. The only drawback is the learning curve to use the Cubase DAW software, but I believe that would be the same with almost any DAW. ... More

I am new to DAW, and chose this unit to connect a vocal mic and my Yamaha MODX to my Windows laptop. The B&H staff helped me choose the right model for my needs, and it arrived in two days. Im no expert, but the thing is super rugged, weighs a ton, and works as advertised.

I have owned this little gem for 5yrs and counting. What most of the sites that list this product do not know is with a free firmware upgrade this unit will support 32bit float up to 192Khz recording (yes, completely outragoeus, but if you have terabytes avail, go for it.... LOL) I have recorded 12 tracks @ 192K via onboard inputs and 4 ADAT in's (two 824's linked) at a 512 buffer size with NO pops or clicks or artefacts of any sort. Kind of mind blowing for the price. :) ... More

The ability to get the BLA mod would make the preamps even better, but the AD's and DA' are all very good for the price. My only gripe is that the software drivers are a bit convoluted, but the perforce is quality with 10ms of latency at 256 samples.

I've been a Cubase/Wavelab user for years and had yet to get a Steinberg interface. I had MOTU 4Pre which worked great but had occasional drops, freezes and glitches on my PC (works seamless on my MacBook Pro). Now I love this UR44! Clean and very nice mic-pre. The synching and integration with Cubase is neat. Love how I can use it at my studio (PC), take it with me on my MacBook Pro OR my iPad!!! Really great unit! ... More

6x4 USB 2.0 audio interface with 4x D-PREs, 24-bit/192 kHz support & MIDI I/O. The D-Pres have a good reputation, and I find them very clear, high headroom and plenty loud. No S/PDIF has not been an issue for me but some will find that a limitation. The conversion rate is very high for something in this price range: 24-bit 192k!

It works as well as my other Steinberg interfaces. No glitches. As for the Neve transformers - they work quite well when I record my Wurlitzer 203 directly.

So I've been recording since I was a 15 and I'm in my 30s now. From my home studio over the last 5 years I've been lucky enough to hear my own dumb recordings played over the radio many times (FM, Internet Stations, Sirius XM.) The genre is very heavy guitar oriented alternative / shoegaze music. Everything I've ever recorded was done on a 2010 1st Gen Scarlett 2i2. I didn't even have a preamp. Only an old Tascam Mic and DI guitars plugged straight into the 2i2. The rest was Amplitube and other plugins. The reason I'm telling you this is because the interface does not matter. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT INTERFACE YOU USE. SO SAVE YOUR MONEY. This year however, I got interested in reamping (which the 2i2 cannot do without unplugging my monitors.) I now had a reason to purchase a new interface after almost 10 years and this is what I got. The IK Axe. For anyone out there caught between the 2 worlds of guitar plugins and guitar pedals, this thing is really all you need. It gives you both right on the front of the interface and sounds amazing. Set it up in 10 minutes. I do recommend setting up a template in your DAW to make life easier when reamping with this. But it couldn't be easier. My guitar pedals and amps are now just an extension of my plugin library. I really love this thing and like I said, DO NOT BUY EXPENSIVE INTERFACES. Just get what you absolutely need and anyone selling you on "sound quality" has no idea what they're talking about and probably hasn't made a single thing worth listening to anyways. I just wish it came with the Amplitube Max bundle because I already have the deluxe. ... More

I come from a world of pro recording studios working with nothing but the best gear. I bought this unit to write songs in my home studio. Not looking to release songs, but just to have fun. I have to say, this unit holds up to all of my pro gear. So much so that I have put my high-end DI's away. There is simply no need for them. The JFET DI and Z-Tone are amazing tools that you would have to pay 3 times the price to get in another product. The only drawback of this unit is that even though it has 5 outs (one dedicated reamping DI) only 2 of them are line outs. I have no idea why they would put 2 unbalanced outputs on the unit. Seems kind of pointless, but it's not a deal breaker especially for the money. I am not a huge fan of the version of Amplitude that comes with it but I have so many Amp Sims that it does not matter that much. ... More

Upgraded from a Motu M2 to this. The AD/DA has been a great upgrade to me. I can clearly hear the difference between the lows/mids and the sound stage. The preamps are full and clean. I was also looking at the BLA revolution 2x2 but I'm glad I went with this instead. With the FX available you cannot go wrong. The latency has been good tracking out of the DAW to FX. The only drawback I have at the moment seems to be some bugs in the software which I hope are ironed out in time. Also, AFX2DAW for the Zen GO on Windows/USB not available yet. Hopefully, they make it available. ... More

The Zen go boasted some brilliant concepts that really appealed to me: DSP on the interface , zero latency effects monitoring, classic hardware emulation, etc… But what struck me when I first started using it was the improved sound quality, and how well the whole system is structured. The setup can be quite confusing, but when you get it up and running it feels well thought out, at the heart of it all is the mixer with some powerful routing capabilities. The software alone is worth the admission price, I like the way they haven’t simplified their controls— to me this would have had the reverse effect in the long run, your basically using the emulations how they were original used. Having the ability to bring the on board DSP effects in to my DAW is priceless, had I owned one of these before I think I would not have bought so many cpu hungry vst plug-ins. Antelope have made a device that is flexible, solid, mobile and pro-sumer, these are all the qualities I look for when I buy my gear, I think it is the most of all those given adjectives on my audio gear side. To say that I am now an Antelope fan is understatement, I have now purchased a modeling microphone from them as well. ... More

At first glance you will just fall in love with how this interface looks. with an all black design and a scratch resistant glass on top this is a thing of beauty. This whole design by apogee resembles apple's design Philosophy and it fits perfectly on your desk next to your mac . But the beauty of this device lies in the knob. Its clicky and extremely tactile delivering a luxurious-feel for dialing in monitor levels and mic pre gain. It also has meters on the front which shows audio level while playback and recording. Btw did i mention this knob glows.. Now enough of me drooling over the design lets talk about the ports. So the ports are available via the breakout cable with 2x Mic/line inputs 2x " Instrument inputs 2x " Balanced outputs 2 USB Type C ports and one 0 ohms headphone output which means you get the best performance with any headphone available today, regardless of headphone impedance For full breakdown pls check my review Best Portable Audio Interface: Apogee Duet 3 Review https://youtu.be/gOcrxKoorb0 ...
