I work with Nikon full frame & CMOS cameras when not using 2 1/4 film cameras. I was looking for a great TRAVEL camera that would be light weight with: a decent sized sensor, a viewfinder, a good zoom range with a fast lens (f2.8), work well at night or in dark interiors, and have an articulating screen. Better than Sony 99
I traded my alpha 99 for this and I don't regret it. This camera is by far the best I ever had. The video is just amazing. And I don't need to carry around ton of lenses. Good Riddance DSLR. Well Done Sony!

RX10
Read many reviews before deciding to get this camera. Having an optical viewfinder and the Zeiss lens was a bonus. I have only had this camera for less than a week, but it is easy to use, takes great photos. I also wanted a pS that would take macro shots. So far so good, and the movies have turned out great too.

Very nice colors and detail
The camera feels just right in terms of size and weight. Focusing is fast and the shutter is noticeably quieter which is a plus in in areas or situations requiring silence. Photos come out crisp, have good contrast and the colors are excellent. The zoom ring takes some getting used to and is a bit slow but shouldn't be a concern except with sports or action shots. The camera is a bit pricey but if you can get past that then it's quite a gadget.

Do NOT overlook this camera!
An incredibly versatile camera with a great lens/sensor combo. I've had a number of DSLR's and Micro 4/3rds cameras, and this is the most amazing digital camera yet for me. Everything I want on a fairly compact package, without the hassle of carrying and changing extra lenses. Prints a gorgeous 12X18 300 dpi image without any re-sizing on my Epson R3000. Not just a camera that does it all - it does it all well.

Followup on RX10 Has Promise review
After further use of this product I am disappointed. The pluses are the design and build quality, the 2.8 lens and zoom range. In any auto mode it tends to shoot everything at 2.8 which limits creativity. The limited range of the tiltable screen in only a vertical range can be frustrating. Worlds Best Bridge Camera
This is my new carry everywhere camera and although not small it pack a great punch. Good wide angle range, very usable zoom and produces high quality images and videos, the Zeiss lens is outstanding. Very impressive results and no need to carry additional lenses or concerns of field lens changing.

I'm into this lens for a 4.5 stars. The only problem with this camera, yes the only problem is it's write speed to card. Yes, I have a Sony 45mps writ to speed so it's not the card, but the camera. RX10 - perfection in a bridge camera!
It's been years since I had a good camera. Did a lot of looking at offerings by Canon, Nikon and Sony. Sony appeared to have the all in one solution I was looking for, and I have not been disappointed. Purchased the RX100M2 first, and just loved the quality of the pics so much, decided to go for the RX10 as well. Both cameras are great shooters in their respective roles.

Quality of construction, ease of use, and image quality of the RX10 are all top notch. By far the best fixed-lens camera available right now, no contest. Lots of uses for this camera. Great pics and videos. Lots of features to learn but if you want to take excellent photos with the option for creativity then this camera is for you. Yes, its $ but the value behind that cost greater than more expensive cameras.

Just what I have been waiting for
This is a great little camera loaded with features. The viewfinder and LCD monitor are crisp and clear, the lens is fast and it is just as capable taking stills or video. I also really like that Sony added the LCD display panel on top for a quick check of shutter speed and aperture. I purchased a RX10 from a local camera store. After two weeks of trying to figure out the settings and setup, with going to the store three times to get clarification I was fed up. The store personnel knew very little about it. I thought Nikon makes bad manuals, they appear very good to what Sony had for this camera. I bought the bad camera and wish to return and exchange for the Sony DSC-RX10.Your Service Department personnel are very good,know the procedures,aks the right question and I got my RX10 one day after Xmas.Excellent service.However one complaint,at the same time BH offer customer buying the X10 some additional discount and gift,I believe BH should give it to me as well.The RX10 is good camera and fit my expectations.

What a cool little camera! It has outstandingly easy to use video that looks as good, if not better (probably better) than my 5D3. Its WAY easier to shoot video thanks to the peaking, AF, zebras and EVF than my Canon too. Video is implemented the way Canon should have on their kit. Great all-in-one camera
It can do everything, from low-light situations to birding.My only complaint is the incredible lack of documentation for an incredibly complex array of features.I plan on using it as my only camera for a three week photo-safari to The Netherlands next spring.

New RX-10
Having researched a while before buying, I was not surprised by the camera. The only thing that I can say is that the lens moves when no in power. Just a slight bit, but it is strange. everything seems to work okay other than that idiosyncrasy. shots and video of my grandkids in low light came out well. I am a professional videographer, so well has a different meaning for me than most.

Giant Zeiss Lens
So far the RX10 has exceeded expectations and what's more fits in a small weatherproof padded case 6 X 5-1/2 X 4 inches for a total weight of 42oz with spare battery. I really like that I can just focus on using it versus worrying about what lenses to buy, and how to carry them. Sony really under promised and over delivered on this one.

This camera strikes me as a quality tool. It is not a small pocket camera. It has a reassuring heft to it with excellent build quality. Still images and Video exceed my expectations.
