Great camera for video

Jan 3, 2017

I had this camera for first time at the wedding. I was going to use it just for few test shots, but after seeing quality in complete darkness end up filming rest of reception.

Sharp, Fantastic stabilization, significant rolling shutter.

Dec 30, 2016

In most properly shot scenarios the rolling shutter will not be an issue. Though the few instances where you need to quickly pan to a different subject the rolling shutter will be very apparent. It's actually quite a breath of fresh air going into 1080p mode and getting very minimal jello effect. When properly lit and using a very sharp lens (like the new 85mm GM Sony) the super sampled (from 6K) video is simply stunning for a $1400 machine. Matc... Show More

Terrific Camera

Dec 29, 2016

First off, great communication and customer service from B&H. I upgraded from an a6300. The highlights for me are the touchscreen, expanded buffer and a more comfortable grip. I am very happy with my purchase.

This camera rocks my photos!! Over time?

Dec 29, 2016

The reasons why I upgraded to Sony a6500 are the following: - 24 mega pixels - Size of the sensor (APS-C) and first and foremost the portability, size of this camera is so perfect to what I need without compromising the quality of a DSLR CAMERA. My Sony a6500 ? takes an awesome pictures with my zeiss 1.8 55mm lense. Every shoot I took comes out insanely and incrediblely beautiful. So far I don't have any regrets buying this master piece of camera.

Great Upgrade from the a6300

Dec 29, 2016

I loved my sony a6300 and pretty much everything about it except overheating issues. I mostly shoot video and so far I've been able to shoot as much 4k footage as I want on the a6500 without even a warning, much less the camera shutting down like the a6300 did. The ibis is a nice upgrade and allows me to use non stabliized 30 party lenses and achieve much better results. The touch screen and touch to focus functionality is pretty nice too, though it's a little small to really be awesome.

Great Camera but might not be worth the upgrade from A6300

Dec 29, 2016

I bought this camera over the Sony A6300, because of the 5 axis stabilization and the touch screen but these features alone are not really worth the $400-500 price difference. This camera is great and the 24mp APS-C sensor takes beautiful images as well as the 4k video but the A6300 does the same thing only lacks the 5 axis stabilization but you can get stabilization through most Sony lens. The only benefit the A6500 is that you can have stabiliz... Show More

Totalmente recomendada.

Surprisingly light and very capable!

Dec 26, 2016

What a surprise! I have been into photography for a very long time, shot with almost every brand that has any cache and ultimately have gone to Sony mirrorless as my go to system. I have been shooting with their full frame models but wanted a lighter kit for basic travel photography and with the multiplier, greater telephoto reach for wildlife work. After using this camera for a few weeks, I am absolutely blown away by its focus speed and reliability and I love the lightness of the kit as well. Sony is hitting some home runs these days and I would rate the A6500 in that category.

Annoyed but Happy :)

Dec 26, 2016

Annoyed in a way, because i bought my a6300 this Oct. 2016. Then 1 month later, a6500 was announced. T_T Happy because a6500 got all the features i dreamed of having on a camera.

Yes, what everybody says is true. You don't need another review saying the same ol thing. EF lens users, yes it works with Metabones Speedbooster. But it works smooth in video mode. In still mode it's takes a few passes till it locks on. Not reliable enough for a paying gig. But I got this for video work anyway. They need a custom menu page. All those menu pages are ridiculous. My favorite feature? The image stabilization. This is the main reason why I bought it and I'm not regretting it.

A half step forward.

Dec 22, 2016

If your interested in this camera for video it's a great purchase. + The image stabilization works very well and is worth the step up from the a6300. + The heat efficiency of the camera when recording video is improved. + sLog 3 another worthwhile improvement. - Menu system while a little nicer looking, and slightly more organized is still crazy. - The touch screen is a start, but a long way from being good.

Sony a6500: It does everything I want.

Dec 20, 2016

I have had a Sony a 6000 for 2 years (still working great) and decided to get a second and better camera. Since I jumped from 6000 to 6500, I find most changes great, in particular: the mic input jack; the silent shooting mode; the fact that you can now shoot video from your phone with the remote control app (the 6000 could only take pictures); the better grip; the 4K video mode (which means you can crop post-facto and still get HD quality); the ... Beast Camera

Dec 20, 2016

This is a beast of a camera for being so small, lightweight and compact. Beware of EF lenses with any type of adapter - they are not that fast if you are looking for autofocus features. Otherwise even with the 8-bit, this camera packs a punch.

Did some stress test on the 6500. I was able to shoot at 1080 60p @ 50mbs for 1.5 hours straight with no overheating. I also dis 4k 30p @100mbs for 1.5 hours straight and did not turn off, however it did get toasty. 4k, s-log and decent low light capabilities? Can't beat it at $1400

I really like this camera for street, everyday and travel. I like fast shutters and this is in a here with my Nikon D5. The setting changes are quick without having to go to a lot of menus. I wanted small so I surprised myself by settling for a non-full size sensor. Glad I made the choice. This camera is going to get lots of use when I don't want to drag the big gear. Best Camera for My Purposes

Dec 14, 2016

Am comparing with the Sony Nex-7, of which I own 3 bodies. I dismiss DSLR cameras as inappropriate for my purposes. Film SLRs and DSLRs are too bulky and weighty, even APS-sensor DSLRs, to be carried when photography is not my sole purpose of travel and recreation. Despite all the SLRs and DSLRs I have owned, most of my photography was with upper end point and shoots. Your best camera is the one you have with you. A camera too burdensome stays ho... Show More
