Love this camera

Nov 11, 2016

Previous to the a6300 I purchased the a6000. Both cameras are very similar and both have outstanding image quality. The a6300 steps it up though. The build is so much better. It starts up faster, focuses faster and the images with a good quality lens are unbelievable for a camera of this price. I've shot with the big boy DSLRs for years and I can say this camera will give them a run for the money. Save space in your camera bag and some money in your pocket. This is a great all around camera.

Best mirrorless AF i've ever seen

Jun 18, 2016

I buy the camera for still photos. I need a small and ligth weight camera ( in comparison of my Canon 5Dmk3), with fast and acurate AF for travel photography. It's just awesome !!! But it's an APSC and there is no fast native sony APSC lens avaliable. So we have to deal with adapters and other brand lens to have the real benefit of this gear. (I.e : Sigma MC-11 adapter and sigma Art lens). Furthermore, there is no IBIS like sony a7s2 ou 7r2, that might limit the use of non stabilized lenses

Excellent upgrade

Sep 26, 2016

Colby Brown encouraged me to upgrade from my years old Nex7. Video capability is excellent and some great stills features made the sale. Navigating around menus seem far more intuitive and shortcuts are really handy. Getting familiar for an upcoming NZ trip and really excited to put it to the test. Love the vastly expanded bracketing feature so HDR application in rain forest will be high on my list. Just an advanced amateur so need things which are accessible and benefits readily grasped.

Great Camera For Shooting Concerts

Aug 21, 2017

Favorite: Color in low light is gorgeous Translates colored lights from performance shooting beautifully vibrant Image quality has depth Lightweight, small, but powerful Body is sturdy Great for small hands Automatic shooting produces stellar results Least favorite: Can still be slow to focus in low light conditions Kit lens not durable. Gears break too soon zooming in and out When handholding and using display for view, if eye piece gets obscured, view disappears from display.

Perfect except the overheating issues

Mar 26, 2016

I was waiting for over a year for this camera but I am now disappointed. While still and generally 4k Video are really good in terms of picture quality, even with the bad kit lens, the camera/sensor overheats in about 12-15 minutes indoors. Unfortunately I record build V-Logs over a extended time period like 30-45 minutes and my old GH4 had no issues whatsoever. This is a deal breaker for me so I will return it. If you can live with this caveat, you will get a great camera.

My go-to for video

Feb 23, 2017

This little camera is absolutely amazing! The 4k image quality is incredibly sharp, especially with good glass. The 120 fps is great but the 1080 quality is nothing special. Also, the autofocus in picture and video is amazing. It tracks so fast and accurately. The lowlight performance is often overlooked in this camera probably due to the APS-C size sensor but you can crank up your ISO up to 6400 and still get usable results. Overall, its a amazing camera and you need one.

My second Alpha (1st was 6000). The 1.5x is sufficient for my 70-200mm Sony E to enable my bird photography. Unfortunately the combination is not fast enough at dawn/dusk. Awaiting the new 70-200. Also use it with my perspective control lens, which is awesome. I like the feel and weight (compared to my DSLR) and the speed of focus compared to the 6000. If Sony were really serious about breaking into the professional photo world, they would make the body with 2 card slots!

Two Years Old and Still a Great Value

Jan 13, 2019

Along with the Sony 18-135mm lens, I find the A6300 to be an almost perfect travel camera. I compared this camera to the Canon 80D/Canon 18-135mm lens combo, and in almost every respect the Sony was the better choice. The one hesitation I had was buying a camera released more than two years ago. However, I soon realized that the A6300 is an exceptional value, and even two years after its release its as good, or better than, 2018/2019 cameras in its class and price range.

Great travel camera

Jul 5, 2016

I was looking for a lightweight portable camera for general walk around and travel. This turned out to be a great choice. Much lighter than DSLR, so allows to carry a few additional lenses, and takes great pictures and videos. The EVF makes it very convenient to preview pictures. Couple of cons: an extra battery is a must. The LCD screen is useless in sunny conditions. However, overall functionality, picture quality and convenience far outweigh these two shortcomings.

Great camera for price!

Mar 23, 2016

Use the camera as an amateur photographer. Couldn't be happier with its ease of functions and 4K availability. Plus, the capability of interchanging lenses that are not Sony with adapters let's me utilize my nikon and canon lenses! In terms of negatives, the specs beyond 4K are not massively different compared to a A6000. So if you are looking into a new mirrorless vs an upgrade, I would highly recommend it. Oh and battery life isn't that great, but that's expected.

Great camera but SUPER DISAPPOINTED

Aug 18, 2016

I have to give this camera three stars out of 5. While the picture quality is great and the features are awesome, It would be nice if I could use those features outdoors in the summer time for more than 15 minutes 1080p and more than 4 minutes in 4K. I truly cannot believe Sony would release a camera with such a downfall! This is a great photographers camera, and video is great for the occasional home video but using this camera for events is very unreliable.

WOW! A Great little camera.

Sep 27, 2016

Compared to other offerings in this price range, this camera packs a lot of punch. I upgraded the firmware as soon as I received it. I haven't had any overheating issues in 1080 mode. I haven't shot any 4K on the job yet but Iv'e tested it and it looks awesome. The ability to install apps from the Sony Play Store makes this camera even a better bargin. Compared to Canon, Nikon or any other camera at this price point, the a6300 is the clear winner hands down.

A Must for Sony Shooters

Mar 23, 2016

Excellent product. Sony packed most of their new technologies to this small and compact camera. I wish they put in IBS in this camera and this A6300 will be one of the best compact mirrorless APS-C unit on the market. I am very happy and enjoy it a lot and I am shooting wildlife and bird in flight a lot. Thank you Sony and specially thank you B& H always carry the latest and the best products with great prices, and the shipping is always On Time as promise.

Great auto focus, 4K video, same compact size.

Mar 29, 2016

I have been waiting for this camera for far too long, love the size, the fast auto focus, the 120fps HD and 4K video. Great all around camera for the price. Yes is uses the same small batteries as the A6000 but they are cheap so buy several. You can also plug the camera into a USB battery pack to extend shooting time. I chose to buy the kit lens for times when a large lens becomes too awkward to carry around all day. The 18-105mm G is my everyday lens.

electronic viewfinder flawed

May 16, 2016

This is the third Sony camera I have purchased and have been most pleased until now. The cameras functions well except for the realization that the electronic viewfinder image is tilted off vertical significantly and have to tilt to obtain the correct horizon line. Tried different Sony lenses with no change. This is very annoying and shouldn't be the case with a $1000. camera. I returned for a refund until Sony gets their act together with this camera.

So much potential

Mar 18, 2016

Just a note: I do not own the camera but I have tested it in depth. This camera boasts great specs, the footage is sharper than the A7s II and A7R II and the slog 3 is outstanding. Only one huge problem, rolling shutter is awful, maybe as bad as the original A7s and there is no in camera stabilization. For narrative filmmaking, this camera could perform nicely, but for everyday use, say video journalism, it's unusable. Wait for the GH5 or the A7s III.

No body cap or rear lens cap

Sep 27, 2016

When you buy this bundle know that Sony does not include a rear lens cap or a body cap for the camera. I've purchased Nikon, Panasonic and Canon DSLR camera's with a kit lens and they have all provided caps for the body and rear lens. Sony will not honor this oversight and want you to purchase both caps separately. Be prepared for very poor customer service when you call in if you have any concerns. I had one agent yell at me and hang up the phone.

This camera WILL overheat under this combination of conditions Hot day Direct sunlight Continuous use It will overheat quickly and often Mine overheats with high speed burst mode.... Great Camera

May 4, 2016

I plan to use this for mostly video . I upgraded from the a6000. I was impressed by that camera best kept secret. Well the secret is out on the a6300. The addition of 4k video and the hdmi output and audio jacks and slog makes this camera a great run and gun setup. There are tons of in depth reviews that go into the negatives of this camera and they are true the rolling shutter is there. but at the price point and quality it really can be beat.

I would buy this product again and again...

Jan 11, 2017

Actually, this is the second time I've bought an Sony Alpha a6300. I bought an a6000 a couple years ago, and then bought an a6300 last spring after it came out. I've been shooting astro timelapses with them and the a6300 has a big advantage for this over the a6000 - you can shoot with the a6300 while it's plugged into a USB charger. According to DXO Mark testing, the a6000 and a6300 have some of the best low-light response of any APS-C camera.

Great, couldn't be happier...

Dec 30, 2016

I recently bought a Sony A6300 camera, was waiting on A6500 but decided to go ahead and buy the A6300 (because it was in stock) as an upgrade to my A5000. What a difference, there has been no issues and I love it, still learning, but really enjoying it. I use a 70-300mm mostly along with a 16-50mm taking mostly pictures of sunrise, sunsets, birds, and misc. landscapes. For me, this was the perfect/natural progression for my photography hobby.

Sony @6300

Sep 4, 2016

Great camera. The menu is a great improvement over the Nex 7. I also recently added the Zeiss Touit 12mm 2.6 to my Zeiss 24mm 1.8. I have the Sony 50mm, but do not use it much. The Fotodiox works well with Nikon lenses. I borrowed a friend's Leica 24 mm but it I could not get it to focus well. I like the silent mode for shooting street photos. I miss the exposure compensation dial of the Nex 7. I rarely use my Nikon D800e due to its weight.

Definitely worth the money

Jul 21, 2016

I bought this as a travel and backup camera. I'm using it primarily with a Sony 18-105mm lens. Light and compact and does 4K video. It has most of the features of the A7RII which I also have. The lenses I'm using with the A7R make it only marginally more compact than my DSLR kit. The a6300 stays in the car even when I'm not planning on taking stills or video. I've found you take the best images with the camera you actually have with you.

B&H customer service is great!

Oct 14, 2016

Actually 2 days after I received Sony a6300, a6500 was announced. I contacted B&H customer service to ask if I can exchange it to a6500, which will come with in-body stabilization and touch screen which a6300 doesn't have, and I was sure I'd appreciate those new features for just additional $400. B&H customer service was willing to help me and let me exchange (or upgrade) to a6500. Thank you so much. I can't wait for my new a6500.
