Very Fine Lens

Dec 14, 2015

A very fine all around lens. Crisp sharp images with excellent color. I use it for Landscape, close up in Air Craft Museums, and just plane and simple everyday photography. It's 16-105 MM range covers most any type of photography and is very consistent. I would recommend this lens to anyone.

Sony 16-105 Rocks' Moab

Jul 2, 2015

Purchased the 16-105 for our recent trip to Arches, Canyonlands & Dead Horse. The lens never left the a57 the whole trip. Used for wide angle & panoramic and with the built-in multiplier on the 57; reaching was not a problem either.

The work house in my camera Bag

Feb 7, 2015

I use in in Events, Street Photos, Sports and Fast action assignments. I can focus at 16mm and zoom in on detail very quickly without losing anything, and can do it fast. Not good enough for me for Movies, and portraits

GREAT PERFORMANCE

Aug 12, 2014

Bought this to use on vacation in lieu of my 18-55. Substantial construction. Beautiful color on landscapes.....even photographed whales breaching and got pretty good detail. Didn't let me use shutter in some auto modes, but in manual, even for an amateur like me, a good all around lens.

Great versatile lens

Jun 11, 2014

This is the first lens I bought (after the 18-55mm that came with my a65). It's a really good travel lens, allowing you to shoot a wide range of pictures without having to constantly change your lens. Great picture quality/colors. On the down side it's a little bit heavy/bulky (compared to the 18-55 mm) and I realized only later that my camera has a x1.5 crop factor so the lense is more a 24-157mm for me.

Walk-about wonder

Covers nearly every situation that does not require a specialized lens. Good quality on photos, especially if closed down 1 stop. An excellent vacation lens.

very nice lens

Aug 23, 2013

I'm just getting used to this lens. I mount it on the sony a65. Previously I've had the 16-50 fixed f-stop. (which I Love) on my a65. The 16-105 is a fast focus and very sharp. It increases the range, and is a well-built lens. I will use it for landscape and possibly portraits. So far, I'm very pleased and I would definitely recommend it.

Sony 16mm to 105mm Sal-16105

This lens is new to me but it is being used as my walk around lens. I estimate it well be on about 90% of the time. So far it works well right out of the box.

Good Work Horse Lens

Mar 30, 2012

I bought this as a replacement for my Zeiss 16/80mm that I dropped and it couldn't be repaired. I debated on whether to go with the same as what I had or the Sony which is $250 cheaper and has an extra 25mm in focal length. This is a very good lens and the sharpness difference is minimal. the zoom mechanism isn't quite as smooth but that's really nitpicking. I would recommend this lens.

Great lens for panoramics

Aug 2, 2010

I consider myself an advanced consumer and the following is my review of using this lens with a A550 camera. The lens has good light gathering capabilities. I would have preferred it to be a little faster, but at f/3.5, it meets my current needs. The pictures are sharp and the colors are true. I have taken some pictures which are destined to be blown up and will go up on a wall. I have notices lens-creep, if you carry the camera with the lens poi... Show More

Excellent range and image quality lens

May 9, 2010

After a long research of lens reviews. I finally made my decision to buy this lens.I considered the 18-250 range of either Sony or Sigma but I know that this range has compromises. B&H has this lens on sale... and this helped me decide to buy this lens. I always buy my photo equipments at B&H for the past 17 yrs. After testing this lens, I am not disappointed and even exceeded my standards for a lens of this range. Two days ago, I used this lens with my A700 and HVL58-am on a church activities and the results were excellent!!! I just wish that this lens has a constant aperture of f4 or f4.5

Excellent Lens

May 3, 2010

After so many choices and reading several reviews, I finally made the decision to buy this lens. I am glad B&H has this on sale... I tested this lens from 16 to 105mm range and I was very satisfied with its overall performance - the zoom range, color, sharpness, close and quick focus.I just wish that this is full frame and a constant f4. At 16mm f 3.5, it vignetts but it can easily be solve by using f8 aperture.

Outstanding lens- exceeds my wishes

Feb 24, 2010

Bought this for its reach and fine glass and have not been disappointed. Own a Tammy 17-50 f/2.8 that is a find lens but is short on reach. This Sony lens has just the right focal length reach on both ends. Wish it was a constant f/2.8 but then it would be thousands of dollars and unaffordable. Crisp, clear, great IQ. My new walk around lens and has not ever failed to get the shot. Recommend w/o reservation.

Vignetting problem

Jan 16, 2010

After 2 years of nominal use, black Vignetting has started to appear in the upper corners of my photos. It's now on its way to Sony for repairs. Otherwise, I have really liked this lens. It has been rated better than the standard lens that comes with a Sony A350.

Good lens

Jan 4, 2009

Nice optical Quality. Very light, but extremelly well built. Not very fast, but It is meant to be used with camera's stabilization. The only thing that doesn't convince me is the short and stiff manual focus ring.

I bouigh this lens with Sony DSLR-350 as kit. I wanted to have a light, small travel SLR camera and lanes. It is a great value and lens delivers on on its promise. It is sharp and good value for the money
