Samsung 1TB T5 Portable Solid-State Drive (Black)
This product has exceeded my expectations.
I use the Samsung 500GB T5 Portable SSD (Blue) primarily to backup the numerous document and picture files on my laptop. This SSDs data capacity and transfer speed, portability, password encryption, and rankings in published independent expert reviews were important criteria in my purchasing decision. Without reservation, I highly recommend this fine product.

It's so small
Works great, fast, small, light. It would take 4-6 of these to take up the room of a normal hard drive. Going to Scotland this month, looking forward to not taking the normal hard drive. I always keep photos in min. of 3 places, until I get home. This drive doesn't have to go into a bag. I will carry it on my person, in my neck money pouch, it is that small.

This thing is fast, works great
I was a bit reluctant to purchase a MacBook Pro with only 250 GB hard drive. I asked about ordering a fast SSD drive that I could create instruction videos from and this Samsung SSD drive has been perfect. I installed my large programs, Final Cut, Logic Pro, Camtasia, on the Samsung SSD and everything works great. No hiccups, no lagging. Thanks again B&H.

Small, portable, well-made, fast
Quite portable. Fits easily into my setup. Im using this as a backup disk, formatted APFS. Fast: 395 MB/s sequential read, using USB-A USB-A and USB-C cables are provided. Each of the cables is only about 17 in length, but that is probably sufficient for most users. Indicator LED is on the backside, where the cable attaches, instead of being on the front.

State of the Solid States
In a nutshell, I wanted an SSD that was reliable, fast, able to accept footage from a BM Pocket 4K, and able to be used for high res editing. I did the research, bought two of the 250 GBs for post work, then another three T5 500 GB drives as well. When youre dealing with footage, you dont want to go cheap. When the Samsungs go on sale, theyre a bargain.

Great all-in-one drive.
Love this little drive, it works seamless out of the box for both Mac and PC. Has handled almost 1TB of backups with ease. Like that it comes with both USB C and USB A cables. Also has a simple program to password-protect your files. Only complaint would be it doesnt have more robust backup software with it, but you can buy those from third parties.

Secure Backup Plan
Removed from package and attached it to PC. Quickly backed up the (C) and (D) drives and thousands of photo files on an external hard drive. No internal batteries so I was able to store in my bank safety deposit box. If there were a catastrophic event in the house I would have this additional safe backup. It arrived B&H quick, and at a great price.

Excellent small drive for backups while traveling
This is now my second of these pocket-size drives. They are excellent for always carrying in a pocket away from the computer in case something disappears. The read/write speed is well matched to my laptop, and when used as a backup for downloading image files from memory cards, the small current draw allows simultaneous operations on limited power.

Samsung SSD
So far, so good. I use it as an external drive for backup on a Windows 10 desktop. Biggest advantage is reliability - I am tired of old style spindle drives failing and the risk, time, effort, and cost of dealing with a failure. The other advantage is size and weight - easy to take offsite or travel with. To me the higher expense is well worth it.

disappointing
Had to return, would not set up with the latest version of Mojave. I called Samsung and they set an email of the fix. It didn't work. I called in four separate times and each time I explained the problem Samsung gave me a different answer. Solution was to return and buy SanDisk. Glad that I did. SanDisk works great and a great case for protection.

So far, so good!
I use this 1 TB external SSD to backup files from my 2018 MacBook Pro. It significantly speeds up the process of using Time Machine, which I usually connect every week or so to provide a backup. Time will tell if the device will last as long as a spinning hard drive, but the product seems very well made and I dont have any issues at this point.

Great for USB C & USB3 but NOT USB2!
Works on USB3 just fine. Writing is slower than I would like, but it is smaller than a magnetic drive and no moving parts. Will try it on USB C later. Not as useful on USB C on my computer because power pass through is only supported on USB3 port device. BUT IT DOES NOT WORK ON USB 2 AT ALL! This should be prominently advertised in description.

Was getting this to replace an older, slow Lexar that I use for my in home network (attached to router). After the purchase I learned that many routers don't support these newer SSD's and this is one of those. I found a use for it, but not the more productive use I envisioned. Great SSD, but make sure it's compatible for your intended use.

This thing rips
I'm able to edit 4k 30fps footage in premiere on my xps 13 at reasonable speed. I own 2 already, probably going to pick up a few more, these are amazing travel drives and in reality are even smaller than they appear in pictures and they weigh pretty much nothing, but also seem to have great build quality. Samsung witchcraft right there!

Very cool if it works well for a long time...
Truly small, lightweight, well built and very fast... and, all that storage. Perfect for the purpose I purchased it! These are still kind of expensive, but for serious, portable audio/video project work it's wonderful. Now, I just hope it proves reliable for a long time. The case IS very solid, and no moving parts, so fingers crossed.

USB is the Weak Link
Fast in performance that's why I chose this. I own two of these and one has a loose USB connector where it causes the drive to disconnect from the camera. My second one feels like it's also about to fail. The USB connection is very fragile. CFast cards are expensive but for reliability CFast are much more dependable than this T5.

Small, quiet, works perfectly
I love this for backing up my photos, but because it's an SSD it's fast enough for me to actually work on photos that are on the drive. It's great not having to wait for a spinning drive to power up. It's very small and lightweight. I've been spoiled now, I don't want to use any other kind of drive. I would definitely recommend.

Lightning Fast
I have other external drives because I use them to store RAW images before, during and after they are processed in Light Room. The write and read speeds on this drive are worth the extra cost. It is also shockingly small and will travel well. I am headed on a field trip in April and this will be the only drive to go on the trip.

Beautiful little drive runs fast
Received it last night. Had a quick test. It is considerably faster than normal portable drive. It is small, light weight, beautifully designed, perfect as a backup drive for traveling. The USB-C to USB-C cable works nicely. Only improvement, I hope they include a small plastic storage box, like those come with all memory cards.

Super fast!
Smaller than expected, amazingly compact, like having a filing cabinet the size of a book of matches! Faster than expected ... lightning fast ... there are faster (more expensive) Thunderbolt drives, but this one continues to amaze me with its speed. Maybe a bit pricey compared to regular mobile hard drives, but Im spoiled now.

Solid inexpensive storage for you BlackMagic Cinema 4k Cam
If you are considering using this with the BlackMagic Cinema 4k, it is the way to go. Especially if you are using the new BRAW format. Our film club finds the 12:1 Raw format produces about 100GB of footage for a 10 hour shoot. Approved by Blackmagic and cheaper than SD. the way to go if you are bringing these devices together!

Bulletproof, GO Samsung
I have used Samsung portable SSD for several years. I am glad to get this 2TB for my camera while on site. Then I plug it into my Design thinkstation (all running on SSDs, 1Tb PCIe & 1Tb Sata III by Samsung) for my library. I will pick up another when they go on sale again. I use Samsung SSDs in all my four computers by Lenovo.
