Not as good as previous Lumix iteration.
I am a wildlife photographer. I previously had a Lumi FX 200 and loved it. The lens is still great but the camera itself is excessively complicated to use. I've had it three months now and used on one long Kenya safari. Still can't figure out even some basic functions. Too many menus. Simpler camera with fewer features would actually make it easier to use. I'm a photographer, not a computer nerd.

Very versatile camera
A little bigger than I expected ( I call it my fat camera). I keep in raw shooting mode - the JPEGs just can't match my Fuji cameras. Tracking focus and face recognition are very good. Burst shooting at 12 fps for about 30 shots is great. Took movie of hummingbird at 240 fps, could see wings flapping at about 5 per second. Stabilization very good - I can shoot handheld at 600mm at 1/60 sec. Overall, for a small sensor superzoom, this is a bargain.

Great point-and-shoot camera with all (?) latest features
I like this camera. There are a number of features (maybe standard, now) that I was pleased to discover. In particular, the pre-trigger mode (4K continuous mode; it keeps recording images and then, upon shutter-button press, saves the last second or so plus a little after the press) is potentially great (haven't had hummingbirds to photograph, so I am still hoping for good results). Also the pinpoint autofocus mode.

Love this camera
I love the amount of zoom on this camera. I love that I do not have to carry any other lenses or heavy equipment with me. I also love how easy it is to use.

Just what I was looking for
I bought the Lumix FZ80 but found that it did not focus well as you zoomed out toward the end of its range. The FZ300 does a better job and includes a manual focus dial on the side of the lens. The FZ300 is faster with a better back LCD screen.

Exactly what I expected for a bridge camera
This camera is basically a cell phone camera with better ergonomics, lens, and features. Sensor is about the same size as the Galaxy S7. Shooting JPG produces too many artifacts BUT that's what RAW format is for and the camera does a good job shooting RAW. Lens is wonderful and bright. Focus is fast and responsive. I wish there was more smoothness when it comes to zooming but I'm sure that's just a matter of practice. Camera is very light and it ... Show More

Be Different-Buy a Lumix. Leica Lens Does Make a Difffernce
I have owned this for several months and still have not really utilized all the features of it. Guess I am a late adaptor. however, the favorite feature of this new camera (I have an older model that I upgraded from) is that the burst feature reall works great!! Love it! The 3 shot bracket is something I could not do fast enough with my older Lumix. I am getting used to the color balance and may adjust it to match the balance of my older Lumix-which took the best pictures of the world! I never had this adjustment on my older Lumix.

All that I expected.
So far, It's been great to use. I've started with the 20, 50, 200 and now the 300. All have been a great improvement over the last. As I'm just getting used to the features it's a little early to make a final evaluation. If there was anything that seemed clunky was the side dial for manual focus. I find it hard to get a real clear focus, especially hand holding the camera. Turning on Peaking helps. I might improve as time goes by. One thing I dis... Show More

Solid point and shoot
I am a professional photog, used to shooting with top tier cameras and lenses. I wanted to invest in a travel camera for those times when safety and not the burden of carrying the expense and weight of my normal gear is important. I had invested in the previous generation of this camera (FZ200) for my wife and she has been pleased with it, and the few times I used it, I was mostly satisfied with it. Hard to move from a top tier full frame camera ... Show More

Very happy with my choice.
Just had the FZ300 for a couple of weeks so haven't tried all the features. I've had previous DMCs so that might help but it has been easy to use, easy to find the settings I need. Love the adjustable viewing screen. And the touch screen. Very happy with the easy adjustments I can make as I compose the shot - and the final photo.

Just bought the DMC-FZ300 and it is absolutely fantastic.
I have the DMC-DZ200 now as a back up and use my new DMC-FZ300 as #1 in shooting. It is really wonderful with many new features. It's like having a special computer inside my camera. They give you a basic print out to start using your camera but it comes with a 350+ pages CD that tells you so much about this fantastic camera. I have reviewed 50+ pages so far and so much more to learn about this camera. The zoom is outstanding. I have taken photos... Show More

Extraordinary high quality camera that offers so much
I am a Nikon D300 user who usually takes several lenses and more along on my journeys. I decided to downsize and try this style of camera during an upcoming trip. I have been blown away by the camera's image quality, versatility and ease of use. The digital viewfinder is excellent, and is why I went with this brand over others. Also a plus is the ability to attach 52mm filters to the lens. Even though the pop-up flash has low output, when used wi... Show More

One of my best camera buys
Bought this camera as I wanted to have a camera to take along on our African Safari as I wanted not to have to change len's should I need to use the telephoto. The perfect camera for the job.

You had me at Leica lens..........
I wanted a small camera to take with me on vacations or hiking adventures.....I was tired of hugging my beloved Canon 6d and lenses around. I was unsure of whether I wanted a small point and shoot or a bridge camera. I tried the point and shoot first ( a highly rated one) but was unhappy with the results. I called BH to talk to a sales person about two different bridge cameras (a Canon and a Sony). After I told him my requirements: a long zoom, W... Show More

So far, so good!
I just received the camera for Christmas so really have pretty minimal experience with it. Nevertheless, what I've used, I've liked. I've only tried shots using the fully automated setting and they turned out well. I'm not knowledgeable enough in the field of photography to provide any truly useful differentiating comments.

Great zoom: up to 600m/m at F:2.8 . Raw format. Very good improvement for the location of the butons, and dial function. Improvement in the background sharpness of blurriness possibilities. Very clear view finder. Better manual focusing. Excellent Stabilizer. I haven't done any movie yet.

Well worth the upgrade from the FZ200
Quite a camera. The single most important improvement from its predecessor the FZ200 is the cursor button lock. On the FZ200 it is so easy to accidentally change white balance or ISO by unintentionally hitting one of the cursor buttons. The FZ300 has a way of easily locking/unlocking these keys via a function button assignment. Also, the new FZ300 has a thumb rest so the user is far less likely to bump those keys by accident anyhow. bad experience
I bought the camera for a Christmas present and tested it when it came. I liked the features a lot and I knew my husband would love it. I bought it at the end of October. When he started to use it at Christmas it immediately started with a System Fail- zoom error. I called B&H and unfortunately for me it was out of the time period for them to respond. Now I have to go directly to Panasonic which I feel very insecure about. i have to now ship the ... Show More

It's not you. It's me.
I don't know why I hate this camera... but I hate this camera. The 600mm gets amazingly close and a monopod will keep it steady enough. The images are sharp. The screen is bright. For the price it has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. I just can't love it. I hate picking it up.

I would buy this project again
I use this product for various things: portraiture, street photography and video recording, mainly. I like it. It is very responsive and the quality is good. I've owned this camera's predecessors, the FZ200 and the FZ100 and this one feels more solid and responsive. For the price and for what it does and has (including multiple exposure, which its predecessors didn't have), it's really great, the best out there.

Just got it! 2 thumbs up!
Just received it, quick delivery (except for UPS too busy at the holidays delay!). It's loaded, and I will start out slow with just the basics. I like how it feels, and all the features it offers - excited about the touch screen! I'll write a more comprehensive review once I've been using it a while. Fingers crossed, with high expectations.

moved from FZ200 to FZ300
Takes great pictures . Much better handling and with some good advanced features including dust and splash proof. Ia can shoot upto 1450mm with izoom but much more complicated than the fz200, not helped by the instruction. A keeper.
