Great Camera - run and gun or solid studio work
Personally I like the familiar layout of the camcorder design and the ease of use. It's heavily menu driven so you will need to spend a good deal of time learning the many options it offers. I know Nikon, Sony and Canon all very well but this is my first Panasonic so there was a bit of a learning curve. Once you get those menus down everything works great. Good flexible Leica lens offers the clarity you need as well as a macro options as well. On top of that is the very reasonable price. A good product and bargain on all counts.

possible design flaw
very frustrated with panasonic. have ordered 2 different agdvx 200's and they appear to have a design flaw. Very simply when you take the camera off tripod and move it around the viewfinder shorts out. Not good. Was all set to buy 2 of them, My camera guy liked a good deal of it, said the scene files were a learning curve. But I need to have confidence in the camera. May look toward the Sony FS 5. I am so disappointed in Panasonic. Hard to rate the other parts of it when a key component has malfunctioned twice.!!!!

The Perfect Machine But Why The RED??!!
This camera can't get here soon enough. It has everything I've been waiting for: internal 4K, larger sensor, greater zoom range, improved stabilizer, timecode I/O, SD cards (sorry P2, I'm done with you), and better EVF placement. Panasonic finally made a future proof one piece camera. But why the hokey looking red back? I don't know who you thought that would appeal to, but I'll have to get used to it. PLEASE offer color options. It's definitely gonna be a target for ribbing on set...

Good Jump into 4K
I am an in-house videographer in a PR department and I typically work with your run and gun cameras as it take a lot of the leg work out from having to bring A LOT of equipment and lenses. As my first jump into 40K this was a very easy camera to pick up and play with. In short, I love it. The picture is great and just does so much before editing that I rarely have to do anything in post to fix up the picture. Great color, AMAZING depth of field shots. A really good buy.

LCD Panel Cutting In and Out on delivery- bummer
Just received my DVX200. Opened the box powered it on and flipped out the LCD viewfinder and it immediately began to cut in and out of black when camera was moved. I imagine there is a loose connection somewhere. So much for Panasonic's Quality Assurance. Putting it back in the box for another unit. The best I can say at this point is thanks B&H for making the return process so easy. I hope to repost a better review of this camera when I get a working unit!

Defective Neutral Density Filters
The ND or Neutral Density filters for the Panasonic DVX200 will burn if you shoot video of the sun in certain conditions. Beware. A fatal flaw for my shooting abilities and needs. The ND filter will burn a hole and render this camera useless in a matter of seconds. Beware. I tested three different new cameras and they all burned. Sorry for the bad review, I was looking forward to using this camera. But the ND filters cannot withstand heat of the sunlight.

Excellent Camera
I have owned this camera for 3 weeks or so. My first shoot was an event for a school Choir. First I have to admit the images were outstanding. The ability to use scene files already built assisted in getting my shot were I needed. The XLR mic inputs locations and the on screen menus made it easy to get my audio levels. At first, learning to use the camera was a bit overwhelming, but I suggest the Barry Green videos and book.

design flaw ?
tried to post this earlier but it didnt make it in there appears to be a design flaw with the flip out monitor it keeps going in and out. We are now sending back our 2nd camera to bh. My cameraman was running it thru , and everytime he removed it from a tripod it happened. He didnt feel it was a great run and gun Very disappointed in Panasonic , its hard to believe that we got the only 2 cameras with this problem

What Hath Panasonic Wrought
As I use this beauty more and more, I realize what I was missing shooting in HD on the trusted, very reliable HMC150. Switching to 4K on the 200 was a revelation. The clarity! The color depth! The screen grabs! And I have old eyes! One of the best purchases I have ever made in terms of camcorders since getting seriously into video over 20 years ago. Now, I wonder, what will 16K look like? (forget 8K)

Excellent camera, but with some artifacts
I love the DVX200. It's a versatile camera, with plenty of functions and a low price point. I would buy it again if I should. The only problem I noticed is the visual echo (or ghosting) that may be seen in some low light footage. This issue is well documented on the web, but still not addressed by Panasonic (firmware 1.72). It's not the end of the world and many clients probably will never notice it.

Footage has a Green Tint
I just bought my DVX200 4k and I shot on 2 productions (Dance and Theatre) and for the same production. My settings were generic..Scene 1; 3200 preset. Why is the camera putting out a Green Tint? I have used my HVX200 on these same productions for the same production and never had this issue. Has anyone experienced this problem or is my camera a lemon? Thanks in advance for any advice....Jimmy

worth waiting?
When this camera gets EBU approval for General Long Form I will buy it instantly. Had the same with the panasonic photocamera's. As soon as I traded my analog Olympus camera's and exellent Zuiko lenses for a all-in-one panasonic Lumix (early model with fixed 28-360 zoom) I don't want anything else. I am affraid this camera sounds too good to be true. (esp the codec wich is still not mentioned)

Picture detail is outstanding!
Picture detail is outstanding... As good or better than the GH4. It's a complicated beast with tons of adjustments... I'm just starting to get use to it, but it has already served me well on a full day shoot in challenging lighting. Only gripe is that the color needs to be adjusted a bit (WB preset). Be sure to set zoom to access the faster speeds (default is set to slow).

Everything missing from HCX-1000
As good as the HCX-1000 is, it does suffer from a small sensor. Sony's wonderful PWX-Z100 has the same problem. Both struggle in low light situations. This camcorder should fix that. Personally I think the red color was to distinguish it from the HCX-1000. Also, instead of getting a GH4 and the interface unit and lenses just to do video work, this seems a simpler option.

Highly Recommend for Documentary Shooting
I bought this camera primarily for documentary shooting; it's footage looks great and the handling feels great. It feels/functions like the legendary HVX200, but its footage (especially 4K) looks like a high-end camera (which it is!). Absolutely worth the investment. Only downside is that, in indoor low-light, its 1080p looks noticeably worse than 4K.

Excellent Run & Gun Camera
This is not for the Joe average its an incredible video camera that when shooting fully manual is a remarkable tool. Guys if you have High sensitivity turned on and AGC above 18db you will get noisy video, its a great camera in low light if you know what you are doing. A frame of video off of a DCI 4K image at 16 bit colour are over 54 mbs tiff image.

It's a complex camera with wonderful strengths & weaknesses
I loved my HPX170 and shot a whole series with it. Moved on to 4K. I must confess the camera's great when you're in its sweet zone. And can be a challenge otherwise without an external data recorder. I so wish it had 4:2:2 color natively. Check out our video here. All kinds of dramatic shooting and styles. https://youtu.be/05T4oBJZwyY

the camera is not bad
the camera is not bad, but problems with sd cards, an auto focus (points of an auto focus are too close located, often misses when it is more than 1 person, on the average and long end), the autobalance bad, is more 21-24db not working, an expozamer bad. pluses the good picture, in case of good lighting. well blurs a background.

Not an upgrade to the AF100
I had Hands On at NAB. The JVC LS300 is the CamCorder I expected to see in the Panasonic Booth as an upgrade to the AF100. I was not happy with the lack of MFT lens mount nor their choice of an intergrated lens. The apparent top usable ISO seems no better than a GH4 with a similar kit lens. I did not like the RED side cover.

Not a good color
Everything looks great, but not the red color. It is a beautiful camera, the texture of the materials are fantastic, all the specifications are perfect, that is why I don't understand the red color, it does not looks very professional. My opinion is all black or the combination the black with dark gray

Camera has potential
Nice zoom. Great features. I am not completely satisfied with the low-light capabilities. It seems more grainy even then my Panasonic GH4. I wish it had the GH4's preset looks too instead of the ones that come with it. Also heavier than my AG-AC160 so not the best for hand holding for long periods.
