Surprisingly nice for the price
This is the first native M4/3 lens that I purchased for my GH5, and it works very well. I mostly use all Canon glass with Metabones on the GH5, and that works great for most of my requirements. But I had a job that came up to shoot another live band, and previously I had been renting a DVX-200 for that, which I typically mount on a tripod to do smooth pan and zooms. The combination of the PZ 45-175 and the Libec ZC-LP controller now give me ... Show More

Excellent so far
I suddenly had to find a power zoom lens for smooth zooming while recording video. I am very new to these types of cameras, know very little about lenses, and had very little time to figure something out. So I was very thankful that Panasonic now has a power zoom lens. I read as much as I could about adapters, and other lenses - some which had better - but I needed to know absolutely that what I got fit my GH4 & would work immediately. It did ... Show More

Great lens
I recently bought this lens to add to my m43 kit (that is currently based around a GF1) and really like it. I was particularly attracted to its useable zoom range in (very) compact, light weight package. My other option is a 14-140mm which I bought some time back however as useable as that lens is from a zoom range point of view it is bulky, heavy and meant I really had to have a camera bag with me rather than just the small leather shoulder bag ... Not Suited for Indoor/Event Work
I bought this for my GH2 as I needed a longer lens for wedding ceremonies. The stock 14-42 just wasn't reaching the altar from my normal back of church shooting position. The servo zoom was something I missed when I switched from video cameras to the GH2, so I thought this might be a good fit. As it turns out, the included range just doesn't work for me. 45mm is just no where near wide enough for what I do. But that's no fault of the lens. Where ... Show More

It's LESS than I expected !!
This lens is so light weight you have to check it's in the bag - you can zoom manually or press the button and build quality feels and looks (very) good to me. The high quality results via my Lumix G2 have made me a very happy amateur owner. I'm no pro but this lens is so easy to change & use - I'm really (very) pleased with the results at the Florida gator farm where you really don't want to get close - but the snake, bird and gator skin details... OIS still has problems...
The BAD: Tried three copies of this lens, and all have the edge-doubling effect at shutter speeds between 1/80-1/250. In this range, at 175mm extension, the effect was there in 40% of my images, even after applying the firmware update. The GOOD: This lens is much sharper at f/5.6 and at the long end than the 45-200 and not much more than half the weight. Because it does not extend externally, it's immune to zoom creep, an less likely to pump dust... Show More

Very compact but performance disappoints
Purchased for GX1 along with the PZ14-42 for hiking and outings where I cannot carry a lot of bulk / weight. The lens is amazingly compact for its zoom range but as a result is relatively slow. The non-extending zoom is good in that it does not suck in dust like many other Lumix zoom lenses (including the supposedly dust proof 12-35!!!). Optical quality is average at best with good center sharpness but noticeable falloff towards the edges and the... Show More

Great lens, terrible quality conrtol
I've tried 3 copies (2 @and 1 from @), all showed double image with IS on at shutter speed between 1/40-1/200. Not B&H fault but their copy was the worst. Will send for exchange in the hope to get a good one. Other that this crucial production and QC fault, the lens is perfect for m43: compact, lightweight, great color rendition and contrast even under overcast sky. At 1/500-1/1000 at full zoom the sharpness of the best of my 3 faulty ones was co... Show More

Best Bang for your Buck
For the money, I could not have asked for a better lens. It utilizes some effective tools such as autofocus continuous mode, which is great for walking video with people. The image stabilizer has been great and I have not experienced any issues with it. I own a Lumix G5 and this lens did exactly what I need it to do. My only reason for not giving this 5 stars was because the lens does not appear to be durable. It's great that its lightweight which is much easier to carry for long periods of time compared to the Canon 60D with a similar focal length. Other than that, this is a great buy!

Better than I had expected
Got this lens for my Olympus OM-D E-M5. I had the olympus 42-150mm and it sucked in dust while zooming, the Panasonic lens does not extend. It is light and compact, I use it on my Hikes and camping sites. I've read some reviews on this lens and some people complain about different problems in their images. If you know how to set up your camera you won't have any problems with this lens, If you do that is why there are post processing programs out there, shoot RAW and get your image the way you like it.I'm a Happy camper with this lens.

So far good
I haven't had a chance to fully explore this lens, but so far I'm very impressed by it. I'm using it on a GH2. I upgraded the firmware for both the camer and lens, and so far I do not see any of the double images reported by other users of this lens (with OIS and shutter speeds of 1/60 - 1/200 ). I tested it with polar graph paper and random shoots round the house, and it appears nice and sharp.. I also love the small size, and that it is internally focusing and zooming.

Outstanding Zoom Lens
I also have the panasonic 100-300mm, but find I leave this lens on my camera most of the time. The 45mm wide end makes it more useful and the 175mm is still a lot of reach. I find the lens sharp and colorful. The power zoom feature is really nice for video.I love the internal focus. There's less chance of picking up dust and it's just plain a better system. The weight and internal focus make this a very unique lens in the m43 lineup. I really like this lens! Jack

Great lens at this price
I mainly shoot still images and have very shaky hands. The OIS works great even at 175mm. The lens is quiet, compact and works well with my GH1. Focus is quick and zooming is a breeze using the power button. Being an internal zoom helps to keep dust out and maintain stability. Image quality is very good and only a bit soft at the long end. Keep in mind that it is a f4-5.6 lens and requires good light for optimum performance.

Great addition to my G6
So far after having had this lens for a couple of weeks it has lived up to my expectations. It is light and well built. The power-zoom feature takes a little getting used to as this is the first of this type that I have ever had. Since it is internal focusing the lens length does not change. Comes with a discrete and well-designed lens hood, a bonus in this day and age. I also ordered a 46mm Hoya UV filter at the same time.

amazing intro lens
The Lumix G-vario 45-175 lens dramatically changes how your Lumix G digital camera operates. This lens is a huge upgrade from the 12-45 lens that comes standard with the Lumix G with crystal clear focas and a much more usable zoom. The internal focal point makes the lens lighter and easier to get those shots where you don't have forever to change the zoom. Highly recomended for any budding photografer.

Very good lens
Much less weight than kit 14-42 lens small size for amount of zoom, does not change size while zooming Power zoom allows for much smoother zoom Much better photo quality than kit lens Great video, able to follow subjects well Use for wildlife, structure, portrait Not good for indoor but then what long range zoom is Not great for street photography or close up shots as this lens starts at 90mm.

remarkable stabilization clarity
This lens does everything it promises. I am most impressed with the clarity of the most shaky-handed zoomed photography with this lens. It is extremely lightweight, small size for the zoom range, and does not put my GF-1 out of balance like the heavier offerings with similar specs. By spec this is not a low-light lens. I use this lens for outdoor or well-lit shots most of all.

Good lens
A Reaaly Good Long Lens for micro 4/3 The lens focuses quickly and can be zoomed manually or powered. It is compact, light, yet provides more reach than most SLR lenses. The lens does not extend during zooming which helps to keep dust out and provide a more stable lens body. Of course none of this would matter if the images were not sharp but they are!

From a beginner
I'm fairly new to photography. This lens was purchased to go with my new GH2. For me it's a great learning curve going from a point and shoot to this system. I love the way I can zoom in so quietly and the lens does not move at all. As a learner that's about all I can offer at the moment the technical stuff is still waiting for me to learn about. KT.

Great bank for buck and weight
This lens is great for the price and especially when considering the weight. It is very fast and performs very well at 1/2000s in daylight if you're shooting sport. Others have complained about the OIS affecting sharpness but it seemed to me from using the lens that the OIS is intended for shooting movies and should be turned off for shooting still.

Optics fine, functionality not
For the price, I should not have expected much. The optical quality is fine, and in accordance with the price point. The problems are that it is NOT parfocal, so you have to refocus at every different focal length. Also, if you zoom at full speed, the element bounces at the end and causes an image flash. This lens is not suitable for video zooming.

Nice Lens
I got this lens for my Lumix GH3. It works well for a mid-range zoom. I like the power zoom feature although it would be nice to be able to more accurately control and vary the speed of the zoom (even on its slowest setting it zooms too quickly). It is not a low-light lens given its f4.0-5.6 rating. The optical image stabilization works well.

Nice match with GM-1
I'm very pleased with this lens. Its a nice extension to the kit 12-32mm kit lens for my Lumix GM-1. Use the GM-1 when I want lighter gear that attracts less attention than my Nikon D-800E (e.g., travel, street photos). So far I've used the 45-175mm for street photos and landscapes. I'm very happy with the crisp quality of the images.

Great lens for sports!
This is my go-to lens for action footage. I shoot video for my college and this lens is a must for me. Excellent for soccer and capturing indoors volleyball game footage under poor lighting conditions it does good but again excellent for outdoors. The lens is smaller than I thought for a micro four-thirds with nice internal zoom.
