Fantastic Camera

Use the camera almost daily. Excellent build, features. Love the 4-5 format. 5 Axis stabilization! Well designed. Pictures are crisp, great color. All in all, I think the best camera on the market for the money

Perfect performer

Jun 22, 2015

As an owner of OM-D E-M5. I'm very happy with Mark II as well. The important improvements (for my personal use): - Wi-fi remote control and display - Electronic shutter (complete silence for street / event photography) - Bundled mini-flash act as a commander for HP/HSS flashes (something E-M5 mini-flash didn't do). - Improved image stabilization. - Slightly better sensor. - More configurable buttons. - More flexible settings, so you can configure... My wife and I are both best-categorized as enthusiast-level photographers - and have followed a track of having two similar bodies and overlapping-use lenses and accessories - regardless of brand - so we can share settings, experiences, and the like. We are not brand-loyal and see merits in many brands and combinations. We have migrated through various sensor-sizes of Minoltas, Nikons, Canons, Panasonics and now to Olympus. So, we have some amoun... Show More

Technically great, fragile like a leaf

May 8, 2015

The camera handles beautifully and functions far better than the Canon 30d I am upgrading from. Unfortunately in the 3 months I have had it, using it for two weeks, it has broken twice (the function lever broke off on the first day I used it, after being repaired one of the control dials broke after another 4 days of use). Olympus has been unwilling to help with shipping (I live outside of the US) and repairs took about a month the first time around. If you plan on using this for more than light duty around town I would recommend searching a hardier camera.

Amazing camera that does it all

Apr 15, 2015

This is the 3rd Olympus camera I've bought, each one an upgrade from previous model. The E-M5 MarkII is by far the best camera I've ever owned. My Canon and Nikon are gathering dust as this is now my goto camera for most shooting situations. Coupled with the new Olympus 14-150 f4.0-5.6II lens there isn't much you can't shoot and shoot well. Not much of video shooter but the little bit I've done is high quality and extremely even due to the incredible new stabilizing system on this model.

So Excellent

Apr 15, 2015

57 yo male of average size and 35 years experience in general-purpose hobby SLR photography. For me, this camera is delightful. Previous camera was a Panasonic GX7, another excellent camera that I can recommend wholeheartedly. I made the shift partly for the 64 MP mode (absolutely not a gimmick, it astounds), partly for the next-gen image stabilization (the GX7 does not IS the viewfinder image for still photography or provide any IS for video, an... The EM-5 MKII is everything that is great about the MKI with some minor updates that I have found to be very beneficial. Some of my professional projects include product photography, interior photography, people, candid and street photography and video projects. Here are some features that I like about the Mark II: RE: VIDEO - In terms of video, the stabilization feature of the EM-5 MKII is nothing short of awesome. Its enables super-smooth handh... If you buy this camera, perhaps the most important thing you can do is read the instruction manual. The E-M5 Mark II can be customized to almost any user's preferences, but it's a complex camera that can be frustrating if you don't take the time to understand its operation. Compared to the E-M5, the Mark II is improved in almost every respect. The operation and placement of the external controls are more positive, responsive and logical. Although... Show More

My Favorite Mirrorless Camera to Date

Mar 27, 2015

Olympus has added a dash of innovation with the 40MP shot and a lot of well though out refinement to the E-M5 Mark II. It's handsome, versatile, and an excellent image maker.

Superb Camera

Mar 27, 2015

I have both the E-M1 and this E-M5 MK II Cameras and I love them both. These Cameras like little Jewels having the highest quality of workmanship I do not find in my Nikon Cameras. The Olympus Pro Lenses have the same Masterpiece quality of workmanship and performance. Olympus cameras are very customizable beyond my imagination, very easy to use them and easy to carry them around due to the light weight and small size.

If you are the type that likes a straight-forward, concise review, look elsewhere. Below I try to document my thought process as I compared the likes of the Olympus EM-1, EM5ii, A7ii, A6000, and Nikon D750, and why I finally settled on the EM5ii. Like most enthusiast photographers who spend any time online reading reviews, when it came time for me to upgrade my Nikon D40 from 2006, I lost track of my original goals for upgrading (more customizabi... Great Camera

Mar 17, 2015

Before buying this camera I watched all the YouTube Videos, read every review I could find and downloaded and read the owner's manual. I also copied and saved pictures of this camera as well as the E-M1 (to compare them side by side). I have a Stylus -1 which is a great little point and shoot and an E-M10 which I have enjoyed using. I bought the 10 used and bought all 3 Sigma 2.8 DN primes to go with it as well as the Panasonic 45-275 zoom and a ... Show More

a lot to appreciate

Mar 16, 2015

Since having the MKI ( for nearly 3 years), it has continually proved to be a stellar still camera for what's required on some of my professional projects (multi-media - product, interior, people, candid, street photography) and for personal use, but with that said the video aspects of the MKI was certainly an area of opportunity. The Mark II goes above and beyond in terms of video options, and remains as would be expected in a MKI upgrade an ama... Show More

As commercial product photographer. 40MP is never too few. Pairing with 12-40mm f2.8, 17mm f1.8, or any lens type, image quality is good enough to sell it. I wish the HiRes function could dose it with out the tripod. May I ask for too much, who know? May be OMD em1 mark 2? Returned for an exchange after 2 hours

Mar 13, 2015

So I got the new OM-D E-M5 Mk2 in the mail today and opened it right away. It's an upgrade from my already awesome E-M10. After taking a few photos, I noticed that there's a blue colored hot pixel on the LCD smack right in the middle. It's mostly noticeable in dark areas especially when turning the camera on while the lens cap is still on. I thought it was just a hot pixel on the LCD but when I zoomed in 100% on the actual image playback you can ... Show More

Great functionality, bad engineering

Mar 5, 2015

Great stabilization, good focus, peaking has to be set up carefully for 3rd party lenses. If your insert an external mic, you can't use the swivel screen properly anymore for video at least. Have to find hacks to get shutterspeed and aperture displayed, while toy like video functions block the screen. All in all feels more like a toy then a tool.image quality i cant tell on photo level yet, as lightroom doesnt support the cam yet. As for video even all can be set manual, i did not find a great color/contrast balance setting yet. So there is a lot of potential for mark 3.
