A Precision Instrument - Sharp and DOF Scalpel

Oct 23, 2018

Absolutely the sharpest lens I have ever owned in 45 years, and in that time I have owned OLY 35, Mamiya 6X7, and Mamiya C330 6X6 TLR lenses. High micro-contrast. At F1.2 the center, edges and corners are equivalent to my Olympus PRO 12-40 at 17mm F2.8. By F2.0 center and edge exceed sharpness of my Oly 60mm F2.8 macro at F5.6, which had yielded my sharpest images. Despite having a moderate wide FOV, this lens at F1.2 shooting a full height perso... The lastthe best

I have the full complement of Olympus Pro Lenses. Really going over the decision to purchase this 17mm 1.2 (approximately 35mm) was so difficultif you have the 25mm 1.2why get the 17mm 1.2? The lens is not inexpensive for the average photo shootthe 1.8 is about a third the price. However, watching comparisons and reading up on both lenses Im sure you will want the 1.2. Fantastic sharpness

Dec 27, 2019

I switched to using an Olympus OM - E1 MkII about 2 years ago from a Canon 5D MkIV and a collection of L series lenses. I was a dedicated Canon user, but due a handful of physical issues I made the choice due to weight and quality - especially LENSES. This lens certainly does not disappoint - besides the obvious advantages of an f1.2 lens in low light, it is EXTREMELY sharp. Im not easily impressed but this lens would probably impress any serious photographer.

I love this lens with f1.2

Sep 3, 2019

I do mostly hobby level landscape photography. The weather sealed lens was handy a couple of times shooting in the rain. My favorite feature, and the reason I bought this lens, is the f1.2. It works great in low light! It is fast enough that I was able to shoot many sunrises and sunsets without a tripod. And when I shoot landscape portraits, I love the bokeh this lens produces.
