Great lens for micro four thirds!
Exactly what we needed in a tight space. A lot more throw that you'd think for the sensor size. Image is sharp and clean. Focus rings are also pretty smooth with not a lot of tension.

Beautiful Images, Cheap Body
I've loved this lens for the images it produces, but I barely bumped this and the base that mounts to the lens almost fell apart. Now it has to go be repaired for a pretty penny. I've banged up some stuff in the past and understand how to be careful, but for the little bump this took, it was kind of ridiculous how much damage was done.

excellent, worth the price
Crisp, clean image, impresses! Photos at night with basic flash and autofocus also get sharp faces and a clear image.

Re: Professional Quality Micro 4/3 12-40mm lens
This lens has been a terrific upgrade from the 14-42 mm kit zoom lens I purchased with my Olympus E-PL 1 Pen camera 10 years ago. The constant F 2.8 maximum lens opening for all zooming ranges is very useful in low lighting. It has ultra fast focusing. I've noticed little noise even at the high 12,800 ISO speed. I've had the camera only for 2 weeks, and I'm sorry I didn't purchase it sooner. As an added plus is it's weatherproof.

Very sharp, with a learning curve
This is the sharpest zoom lens I own. However, I just started using it without reading the enclosed instructions, and missed the existence of the neat, discreet manual/auto focus switch ring. It is well designed, easy to use, and invisible to over-eager new owners. I enjoy using manual focus with this lens, now that I know how to quickly turn it on and off. It's great to have constant aperture throughout the zoom range.

Excellent Quality
I particularly wanted this lens for low light and star photography. So far I have been very impressed with what this lens delivers. And Im happy that its light weight.

Always dependable service
I damaged my Olympus Pro 12 - 40 mm and needed a new one quick for an upcoming job. B&H shipped it for free and it was here the following day. I always get great service e with them.

Extremely fast focus.
Last year I purchased an OM-D M5 II as an upgrade for my E-510. I also purchased the micro four thirds - four thirds adapter so I could continue to use my existing lenses. This worked well, except that the focus was painfully slow. This was not a problem except when photographing people. I was frustrated as I really loved the new camera body. A while back, a gentleman from Australia was in the Olde Tyme Portrait Studio, where I work who had an E... Show More

Just Wow!
Ive thought about this lens for a longtime. Wish Id thought less and bought sooner... The focus on this is F-A-S-T. The focus action is so fast Im not even aware its done its thing. I got it two days ago and have taken it out for 2 days. I thought the added weight of Pro glass might be an issue. Its not. I thought the clutch ring would take getting used to. It didnt. I wondered if there would be a noticeable difference in image quality. There is. Im a very happy camper! And, as usual, B&H was awesome in delivery. If youve been thinking about this lens, order it!

Best all around lens for M4/3
I've been using the 12-40mm along with the 9-18mm, 14-42mm kit, 25mm 1.8, 45mm 1.8, 60mm 2.8, 40-150mm II R, and the 75-300mm 4.8-6.7 and have captured too many good memories to count over the last couple of years. This lens has image quality like the 25mm and 45mm prime lenses, is weather resistant, and has a much nicer focus ring feel. The prime lenses have a faster F1.8 aperture, but the F2.8 aperture is a good compromise for the 12-40mm zoom ... Show More

Looks, Feels and Shoots like glass of old !
This is how a lens should be built ! This is how a lens should feel. The images are gorgeous I was worried it would be too big or heavy for my Pen-f but its perfect.

Solid Lens
I bought this lens to use with the new BMPCC 4K because I was tired of trying to make other lenses work with adapters. Mounts perfectly. Operates well. The image looks really good. Just wish it had the optical stabilization, oh well. I recommend it.

Excellent lens with poor lens hood.
Tremendous walk-around lens. I have been very pleased with large (11 x 19) prints. The lens hood accidentally detaches very easily and I am working on my 4th. Excellent lens. Poorly designed lens hood. I would purchase it again.

LOVE THIS LENS!
I love the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 pro lens. I use it with the OMD-E-5 Mark II Olympus camera. I have used it while just walking about (meaning not specifically going out to take any photos, but taking my camera with me should the opportunity arise). Its lightweight and the versatility (range 24-80mm) is perfect. Shooting wide open you can definitely get the bokeh effect. Ive taken shots of flowers and plant life with a bokeh loo... Show More

One of the perfect lens for the Z Cam E2
This is my first M43 lens and it does not disappoint. I also bought this because I have the Z Cam E2 Camera and it complements each other in performance and sharpness!

Excellent lens
A little heavy, but an amazing improvement on the Oly 12-50 kit lens. At 12mm, it is better corrected optically than the Panasonic equivalents which I also tried. Im sorry I waited so long to get it.

Wonderful lens; no complaints
In making the gradual shift to Olympus, this lens was one of the three that I purchased with my E-M1ii. It is an absolutely lovely piece of glass. After several months of use, it is sharp throughout its focal range, renders faithful contrast and color reproduction, and there are no issues for me with focusing (AF or MF) at any focal length. Of course, as with any lens from any manufacturer, you'll want to field test your copy.

A sharp and fast all-purpose zoom
I love this12-40mm f/2.8 lens! With a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, I can take available light photos that previously would have required use of a flash. And, the photos at all focal lengths are noticeably sharper than what I was accustomed to with my previous lens. This lens is well built and weather sealed. It is easy to switch to manual focus, and its auto focus is very quick. The only downside to this lens is that it is a little heavy -- although much lighter and more compact than a comparable DSLR lens. I highly recommend this lens.

Perfect pairing with the GH5 for video
Beautifully designed, fast zoom lens. Similar focal range to a classic 24-70 (35mm equivalent) on a MFT sensor, but slightly longer on telephoto end at 80mm. The game changing feature of this lens is the manual clutch ring with slides forward for autofocus, or back for true manual focus (yes, hard stops on either end!) This allows for consistent, repeatable focus when using a follow focus for video applications, and unlike most AF lenses for mir... Show More

Spotty
Nice lens. solid build. Very quite fast sharp focus. Great for video and photo. BUT.....had for less than 2 years and the front element seems to be pitting on the inside. The outside of the lens is intact. The lens has less than 500 shots on it. Can't explain the pitting. You can see the spots on the inside of the lens. They do not seem to affect the pictures (not as of now at least). I keep finding more of them too. Did not contact Olympus yet. ... Show More

I use it all the time, and it continues to impress me
I bought this over a year ago and it's on my OMD EM5ii more than any other lens (probably 80-90% of the time). Even now I look at an image SOOC and think, Wow this lens is sharp! Very good contrast even in low light, great sharpness, comfortable to handle. The 12mm (equiv 24mm) wide end is very useful to me, and I'm often surprised at how useful the "long" end is as well. Also it's very well made, solid.

Very sharp all the way to the corners. The manual focus clutch is a delight to use. Very solid but a bit heavy for smaller cameras.

Very nice lens
I've had this lens for a few weeks now and am loving it. First, the light weight and compact size of these lenses makes carrying it around a breeze. And I love the focus ring design with the snap into manual function. The extra reach going all the way to 40 is nice. There's really nothing I don't like about this lens.
