Korg OT120 Tuner

I got this tuner for a baritone horn and it works great. I also got the external microphone for it and it also works great. Very happy with my choice.

Not For Tuning Pianos

Jul 8, 2018

This tuner may have full Orchestral range, but it is not an effective tuner for pianos. The built-in mic does not work well in picking up the notes of the low register piano keys. Plus the high frequencies of the piano keys do not ring out long enough for this tuner to recognize the note. The tuner itself is good quality, but not for pianos. For pianos, you're better off buying a tuner designed specifically to work with a piano. My star rating is solely based on piano usage.

Analog needle instantaneous registration of pitch change. Easy to use and extremely accurate. Flexible. BH shopping always a pleasure.

Good Value

I use this to tune a nyckelharpa. The temper I use is -2 cents from the standard Valloti temper. I have an MT1200 (no longer available) which can be set to give me the exact tuning I require. This tuner is not adjustable in the same way. However, it does allow you to adjust the calibration of the needle. I have purposely adjusted it 2 cents using the MT1200 and it appears to work well. I gave it 4 stars because it can not actually be set to the t... Show More

We got this tuner for our conductor. It really helps him show us our intonation. A fantastic tool.

look like might do a little?

I bought the Korg OT120 to tune my piano. I'm not a tuner, but would like to try. This meter shows that a lots of keys are out of pitch, and I just had my piano tuned before buying the OT120, either the tuner is bad or my tuner didn't do a good job. I plan to use Korg OT120 myself, I have the tuner tools. I just need to get started. I have mechanical skills, and I know how to listen for sounds. However, I may not be able tune anything below B1 or above A8 with Korg OT120. The meter does not read below B! or above A8; and I'll find out if this was a good buy!!!

Easy, reliable, accurate

I mostly bought this the help check the tuning of my surbahar (bass sitar) as well as for doing microtonal tunings. This is one of the few tuners I've used that is able to deal with the rich harmonic content of the surbahar, and with many octaves of reference tones it is a lot easier to tune those really high and really low strings by ear. Also, it is just plain nice to be able to move the reference tone up AND down. Why can't other tuners add an... Show More
