If you have a Mac, do not buy this tape drive. I had an experience almost identical to the other reviewer whose drive stopped working. After receiving two replacement drives, I still cannot backup tapes despite having previously backed up at least 30 tapes prior to whatever update caused this problem. It must be a software or firmware issue but neither I nor the HPE support team in India have been able to figure out the problem.

Terrible support & software, Rarely works on Mac, don't buy
I'm a big believe in LTO for data storage and archiving. It's cost effective and secure, easy to safely store lots of data for many years. This is no solution though. I'm running it to a Mac pro over thunderbolt 2 via a Highpoint Rocketstor I/O box. I have 12 or so tapes of data archived.
