Okay....Leaves a Lot to be Desired

Great product at a low price!
I bought this after using an 32 HDTV with a max resolution of 1360x768 for several years. It was great for what I used it for, but had many resolution issues with more modern games. Picked this up a few weeks ago after needing a replacement 2nd monitor for months. Had used an Asus before and had no complaints, so found this for the right price. Good, clear 1080p picture. I use this monitor for traditional non-gaming home use. Great for viewing HD video, pictures, etc from my desktop and laptop computers. Also displays great picture quality with satellite television input. Purchased first VE228H monitor more than 1 year ago. Great monitor for great price
The image and splendid settings on it work great. The speakers on it are pretty useless (which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5), however it will decode your HDMI audio and output it through its line out port so you can use desktop speakers, which was perfect for my setup since the computer is in a completely different room. Good value
I use this monitor to switch between a PC on DVI and a Mac on HDMI. Monitor in this price range with two digital input is limited in choice. it is among the ones and it also has the speaker. I would say this is a monitor with good value. Solid product at great price
If you're looking for a solid 1920x1080 monitor at a budget price there is no reason not to consider the VE228H 21.5 widescreen LED backlit monitor from ASUS. Don't count on it at all for audio, use external speakers for that. Pleased with very fast delivery from B&H Photo Video. Great price, nice product, good overall experience thus far. I purchased two and use in a dual-screen setup for Windows 7 Pro. I have a high-end computer (Serenity model) from Puget Systems with Nvidia graphics to drive the dual-displays. If you're buying a new PC then go straight to Puget Systems, incredible product.

Good Value
Using the VE228H in a single monitor setup for desktop computer and laptop computer (via 2 different inputs). Saved a lot of clutter since upgrading from a CRT monitor. Good things about it are the very cheap price, very nice quality, a bright display, no missing pixels or blotches. Viewing angle is decent. HDMI + DVI + Analog. One not so great thing is under certain conditions if I am moving my eyes rapidly certain images appear grainy, but it quickly goes away. Would prefer 1900x1200 but 1920x1080 will work fine. Other info: I'm going to buy a second one when the budget affords it.

Good Monitor - Connecting was a little confusing
I bought this monitor to connect to my macbook with an HDMI cable. It works great, but it took me a little time to figure out because all that came up was that is was reading the VGA signal. It wasn't coming up that it was reading the HDMI that was plugged in. I figured it out though... You have to press the source button (box with the arrow) a few times to get the source to HDMI. My other monitors that I've used have just automatically read it and connected. So part of it was ignorance on my part. Just wanted to help anyone else that was having trouble getting the signal to read.

Good quality affordable screen
I bought the VE228H as a second monitor for daily use and so far it hasn't dissapointed me. The image is very clear and the colors are crisp. I was able to get a good image from both of my laptops with little adjustment on the monitor. The operation buttons (menu, brightness/contrast adjustment, input switching, etc) are very easy to use. And all of that for only $ :-)The only issue I could find is that there's no height adjustment on this monitor, which could be a little annoying. So far though, because I'm using it with laptops, it has not been much of an issue.

Great Monitor!!
This is a great monitor and Full HD never looked so good :), also my second ASUS product after my laptop. Size: It's not really that big (sadly I had my 32 TV on my mind, can't help it), which makes it even more convenient. Looks: Looks wise it is neat and strangely enough its back is much better looking than front when its off :D. Extra: A good Splendid utility, gives you different viewing experiences. Why one less star? It did not come with an HDMI cable. It's already 2012 and I think its apt for current generation monitors to have an HDMI cable.

Nice monitor for the price
I purchased this ASUS to replace my old monitor that was going out. It's a bit larger, which is nice since I work on digital images. Color and brightness are perfect along with how clear it is. I like that I can hook it up with 3 different types of connections since my desktop has DVI-D connections. I'll be able to use this monitor when I have to replace my computer. The brand is great too. It wobbles a little to turn it on and off since the power button is way over on the right. For what I could afford this is a great monitor.

Good monitor, horrible sound.
Monitor is nice for the price. The sound is horrible but once I changed the settings to allow the sound to play thru the laptop again and not the monitor I was happy. My only complaint is the lack of crispness of the text using the HDMI cable. It is not a problem with this monitor as it happens on all monitors running 1080p w/ an hdmi input. Pictures are clear and the colors are close enough for my needs. YOu can color calibrate but I don't bother for my needs.

Great monitors for the price
I've used 3 of these monitors on my work computer for several years now and have never had a problem with them. That's why I decided to order 2 more for another employee. Although the speakers are a bit disappointing but I didn't expect much and was already was happy with my desktop speakers. The most appealing features for me was the 3 year warranty, VGA, DVI, HDMI connections and the image quality have been exceptional.

Forget the rebate
Great product, really love the HDMI input. Not concerned about the sound quality, we don't watch movies from our computer. BUT, this is the last Asus product I will ever buy, because the rebate was denied. According to Asus, it was purchased outside of date range, even though B&H clearly indicated it qualified. Asus just looked for an excuse. Seems to be their standard mode of operation.

Great product, great service
The monitor works as expected. It was plug and play. I had to subtract a star since it did not include an HDMI cable. I had to purchase that separately. The cost of the cable was nominal, but it arrived a few days later. Monitors arrived the day after I placed the order. Impressive in light that this was 1-2 days after Hurricane Sandy and I selected least expensive shipping method.

Very good quality at a good price
I bought two of these monitors because they were one of the few LED monitors available that allowed VESA mounting. I've had them for about a week now and I only have one mild complaint. The speakers are incredibly weak. I didn't expect them to be great but they are even worse. Even knowing this, I'd still buy them again because they really are great monitors at a very good price.

Great so far
For the price, I'm very impressed overall. Speaker sound quality is nothing to get excited about, but I didn't need much. The volume buttons are shared with the contrast buttons, and it's not clear how you select which you want to adjust, but eventually it adjusts what you want. We've just turned the monitor volume all the way up, and control it from the computer.

great all around
I use this monitor to play my ps3 and use my desktop. Haven't had a problem with it and the display couldn't be better. One draw back is that the speakers aren't all that great but can be easily be connected to speakers or headphones. And it has a DVI, VGA, AND HDMI inputs. over all i was satisfied count ask for a better deal. Highly recommended.

Great Buy would recommend
Play games, facebook, email, just everything, this monitor is great. I can now actually see what I'm doing. LOL I would however recommend external speakers as the one in this monitor even though I have it on the loudest setting is not loud enough. If you have something like a fan running in the back ground it's hard to hear the sound.

WOW!
Great display! It took less than 2 minutes to install. LED really makes a different. At first, my eyes felt awkward, because they were not used to the brightness and the contrast ratio of the new monitor. But now, I can't help but notice how dim and dull my old LCD screen was. Great product! Affordable price. And it's ASUS!

Nice screen, irritating plastic
I use this screen on a home computer set up for internet use, word processing, Netflix/YouTube/DVD's, and non-pro photo editing. Works fine for all of those things. One somewhat significant complaint- I really dont like the plastic on this monitor. The glossy finish shows dust. Really. Really. Easily.

Nice little display in a nice little pac
This is my first experience with this monitor but not my first experience with ASUS. I like this screen. At 135 it's a good price and has solid construction. My main use is feild installation for everyday end users and a couple set up as test monitors on the bench. So far I am happy with this product.
