Works well, add-ons expensive
Had problems at start-up. My Apple wireless mouse and Apple wireless keyboard wouldnt pair with the Mac MIni. Without a keyboard and mouse you are dead in the water. I spent 40 minutes with a well-intentioned Apple Technical Support person whose only suggestion was to turn them on and off. After a while I got the pairing to occur, and the rest of the initial boot went well. I used Migration Assistant and it worked flawlessly to copy all of my app... Show More

Mac Mini 2018 - Two Thumbs Up
After waiting for what felt like an eternity, Apple finally rolled out a pro grade replacement for my 2012 MacMini. My 6 year old Mini is still in excellent working order but could not handle the rigors of 4K video editing. I bought a fully loaded model new Mini and replaced my wifes desktop with the Mini I had. The new Mini is everything I hoped it would be for editing multiple angles 4K video. At first I was disappointed that the only option no... Show More

Works perfectly
Fairly easy to set up and transfer data from old Mac to the new Mac. only problem was that a couple of my old apps were no longer compatible with the newer operating system on the new Mac so I had to re-purchase the up to date versions on a couple of my apps. Also transferring the email app was easy but I had to re-enter the settings on the new Mac for the email to work. Apple Support was helpful and quick in getting that set-up for me in a sho... Less is not more
1) No more SD Card Reader. I dont know about others, but I use lots of them, and I need to read them into my machine. External adapters/readers are a pain. 2) Fewer USB ports. Who needs 4 Thunderbolt ports? Theres nothing to hook up to them. And if you do have more, you can daisy-chain them. I need USB ports. Almost Everything I have runs on it. Two ports just doesnt cut it. 3) No more Audio-In jack. What were they thinking? 4) No more Fi... Show More

GREAT COMPUTER
I Bought this computer to work with multiple software instruments at the same time in my DAW (primarily Apples MainStage 3) and it absolutely smokes other top of the line MacBook Pros Ive had in the past. I bought this computer with 8GB of memory on purpose and bought 32GB of memory from BH at the same time. Super easy to install (although you DO need to buy a SAFETY hex screwdriver set - cheap on amazon but NOT in your local hardware store. SAFE... Show More

Nice Mac
Bought this Mac Mini to learn macOS. New to Mac and have never used one before (have always been a Windows PC user). Bought the Mac Mini with Intel i5 Six Core processor, and paired it with a 32 LG 4K display. So far so good! Impressive speed and ease of use. Easy to set up and very quiet machine. Comes with Mojave OS, which I just manually updated after powering on the machine and registering for the first time. YouTube and Netflix 4K videos... Show More

Solid Small Office Workhorse
I've been using Mac Mini's in small office applications for several years. Everything from non-profit organizations to retail brick & mortar. While there are some features that have disappeared from the Mac Mini, due to Apple feeling like they know what I need better than I (USB outputs for instance), I still give it a 4 star review. The graphics driver seems a little weak but I am running to 27 LG displays, and it seems mostly solid (why it's a ... Show More

Fine, but buggy
Its very small and quiet, lots of ports (including USB-A!). Upgradable RAM is a wonderful alternative to soldered-on, hideously priced Apple Macbook RAM. Has the well-documented crackling audio and Bluetooth issues, plus difficulty waking from sleep. None are deal breakers, but I feel like this is probably the last Mac for me. The premium feel and sense of total reliability is gone, compared against my 2009 Mac Mini which is is still going and is... Show More

USB devices cause loss of internet
This is a pretty nice computer and BH did a wonderful job installing the extra ram. However if you connect usb devices to the USB ports it causes loss of Bluetooth connectivity and internet connection. I totally lost internet until I disconnected the USB devices. (Even Apple tech support couldnt find a fix.) USB hub and a USB hard drive. This is really sad that you cant use the USB ports and internet at the same time. This is a wide spread issue. Just look into it online. My guess is the WIFi antenna is too close to the USB ports. Apple doesnt think anyone use this ancient technology anymore.

Top Marks for this Small Beast
I received the Core i7 6 core model and although my first one had a system fan not working, I was shipped a new one with upgraded 1 day shipping. (Awesome customer service at B&H) I have the basic 120GB SSD with 8GB of RAM which I will be upgrading to 32GB of RAM soon. I also have it set up to 2 x 27 inch ips monitors, one using the HDMI and the other using one of the available USB-C ports. I also have 256GB USB Flash drive plugged in to another USB-C port so to eliminate the need for a larger internal hard drive. This is truly the best way to get your next Apple computer.

Worth the wait, its everything Id hoped for.
Been a long time coming, was looking for a general purpose/media machine and was about to pull the tigger on a NUC until I heard about the new Mac minis. I like to listen to music and watch movies at night with headphones and had been using my pc workstation for that purpose and was annoyed with the fan noise it made when running and now its so quiet with the Mac mini and it makes listening much more enjoyable especially with open-back headphones. The only way I can tell its even on is the tiny light at the front. This is simply a great update from Apple and I love it.

Worth the wait, more than meet our needs
My wife and I replaced our aging MacPro computers with Mac Minis. They were very easy to setup and configure. They are absolutely quiet and draw far less power than the old MacPro computers. While Ill miss being able to update the computers as I did both of the old systems, Im finding as I age Id rather buy up, meaning buy more than I need now, to avoid having to heft, open, install, and configure new hardware. macOS 10.14 also was easy to bring our old setups forward. If youre thinking of a new computer, keep the Mini in mind. It may just surprise you.

A Great Update
I replaced a 2010 Mac Mini with this newer model. I am not a demanding user, just some email, WP, and related tasks. It fulfills all of those, and uses my Apple Cinema Display with just minor adaptation needed. I see that another reviewed decried some of the choices Apple made about input ports. I already used the Cinema displays USB ports, and put in a Belkin 7-port USB hub for other things. For me its fine, but for others...maybe not so. In any case, its great for my simplified uses, and its a vast improvement over the 2010 version I own.

Worth the wait
I just upgraded from my 2012 Mac Mini to the 2018, 3.0 GHz, i5, 16 GB, 256 GB SSD. Just ran a speed test with an iMovie file, 1.5 minutes long, rendered 1080p, best quality. The new Mini rendered the file in 42 seconds, compared to 1 minute 38 seconds on the old Mini. Setup was a breeze, old files transferred with migration assistant without any issues. I use the Mini primarily for photo and video editing and it is so far exceeding my expectations. Of course, the service from B&H was exceptional, as always. Customer service is outstanding.

A significant improvement over the Mac Mini it replaced
Replaced my late 2014 Mac Mini as the system had slowed appreciably over the last year. The Mac Mini (late 2018) is radically faster. Cloned the old Mac Mini hard drive using a new Crucial 1TB SSD. Moved the data via USB to the new MM using the migration assistant. The migration was easier than I anticipated. After the data migration was complete I installed the 1TB SSD in the old MM and it is running better than ever. My only reason for a 4 star rating v. 5 is the price and the fact that the SSD is not field upgradeable.

Fast, but has issues
I replaced an older Mac Mini with this one. #1 purpose of the machine was to remote in via Chrome Remote Desktop and work from the field. For some reason (T2 security chip? OS block?) that is not possible on this Mac. #2 purpose was to run a media center. Mojave OS disables native volume control when connecting via HDMI. No more volume control via my media center keyboard, phone, etc like the old machine. So I wasted $1K, lost a bunch of capability, and I still need to run my old machine to do what I need it to do.

Good workstation choice
Great workhorses for general workstation work for graphic design, development, and light-weight rendering. This unit was purchased because we needed 16GB of memory for use on a workstation running VMware fusion. Since most of our storage is network based (NSF and iSCSI), the limited 128 GB SSD was not too crippling. Would not work for one of our workstations that require bigger disks that synch iPhones with 128 GB or more memory. They require at least 1TB to store the photos, movies, and iTunes phone backups.

Historically Reliable
These Mac Mini units are good if you pay extra to double the base ram, and you use an external SSD to use for additional applications and storage as the base SSD is too limited. If you are running local backups and have 128 GB of photos and a couple iTunes phone backups, you'll need to greatly increase the disk space, as well. Except for one Mac Mini, all of our Mac Mini's we've purchased last until they are just too slow for the current software and we retire/rotate them out of our production workstations.

My favorite store in New York!
Again B&H comes through with the perfect solution and prompt, on time delivery. This is the best run tech. store Ive every been in. Everyone one there is knowledgable and extremely helpful. I have taken two friends there, both elderly with no tech knowledge, and each with crashed computer problems and the staff instantly understood and provided the perfect equipment. And the best prices in the market. Hands down B&H is the top rated outlet for anything you need in photo and internet, computer technology.

A great upgrade for my iMac
While I loved my previous iMac I discovered that there was some issues with my usage for it. eGPUs lose about 30% of their performance when driving an internal display and if you wish to get a new iMac you must replace your display each time. While its a great initial price its more expensive in the long run. This mini has given me the opportunity to split out my peripherals, get more performance from my eGPU and have a more modular (and cheaper) upgrade path for the future.

Love it so far
Just bought this to use in our office in our small business conference room. So easy to set up and so quiet. I considered getting one of those tiny windows computers but opted to spend a few hundred more on this. The ease at which Macs connect to displays and get the font size right is reason enough. It starts up incredibly fast and is very quiet. Considering I bought the cheapest mac mini I'm surprised at how fast it seems....seems fast than my $4,000 windows desktop PC.

Best bargain in computers
The Mac mini is a replacement for our old 2011 Mac mini. We use it as a standalone server for a variety of jobs: DNS, DHCP, file server and a backup server. We have two OWC Thunderbays connected with 16TB each that we use for backup using Carbon Copy Cloner and for file sharing for all of our Macs and Linux machines. We could not be happier with this configuration. The previous mini worked continuously and flawlessly for over seven years. We expect no less from this one.

Great Mac
A great improvement over the dated Mac Pro I had been using for way too many years. Fast, quiet, small form factor, and it does all I need a computer to do. The only limiting factor is the number of ports for connecting printers, scanners, and other devices. A small aggravation, and easily remedied with adaptors and junction boxes to accommodate additional ports, to an otherwise stellar Mac. I appreciate the built in software for word processing and other functions.

The heart of my Digital Audio Workstation
Hooking this unit up into my audio production chain was breeze. I restored my time machine backup of my old mac, and everything came up just fine. It even updated the OSX automatically. I mostly work with Izotope Ozone, Neutron, and RX Pro. I had to connect my Firewire 800 devices va a FW800 to Thunderbolt 2 dongle and connect that to a Thunderbolt 3 dongle, but it worked great. No loss in speed or quality. The added ram and storage at purchase was a real plus.
