Terrible lens hood; keeps falling off
I've been trying to find a good quality lens for traveling so I can keep it light and not have to worry about packing and carrying around lenses. This is an excellent lens that takes great photos. But beware, the hood falls off easily as it does not screw on. When you put this hood on you turn it about 45 degrees and that's it. I've had this stupid thing fall off numerous times and it's really annoying.

Fantastic Lens
I have this matched up with my a6300. For 90% of the time, this lens covers every focal range needed and provides fast, accurate autofocus and color. I do wish it had a reach over 100mm, which has been making me consider swapping this with the 18-105mmG, but overall it's extremely well-built and robust. Not the most amazing low-light performance as expected with f4, but overall I'm happy with it.

Perfect match with my Sony a6000
It worked well during my trip to Italy and I was able to shoot almost everything with it. I almost never missed any shot during my trip, except for an UWA lens to get everything in. Sharpness and AF worked really good and microcontrast was also on high level. I tried before a Sony 18-200mm but I was dissapointed with the sharpness and AF speed. This one is not AF speed demon but it's quite good.

Fantastic vacation lens
Debated buying this at the price point given some mixed reviews. Took it to Disney for my vacation and it was perfect in an area where its to crowded to move your feet to zoom lets you get the shots you want up close and get the wide angle to include the scenery. Never really needed more focal length. The pictures are sharp, it focuses quick. Just a perfect walk around lens for an a6000

Great companion to the A6500
I purchased this as the primary lens for my A6500. I liked the 16-70 focal length, when enables me to cover the standard 2 focal sets (16-35 and 24-70) with one lens. For a lightweight option, I bring this lens and the 70-300 G when I need the telephoto. This lens is sharper in the corners than the 24-70 f/4 (which I also reviewed, but decided to return due to image quality).

First changeable lense
Im just a beginner and was travelling Europe for a month, after much research i purchased a A6300 and this lens. This was a awesome mix and easy to use, I used this lens 95% of the time and found the quality & pictures exceptional . I got closeups to the Swiss Alps and they all came out fantastic. For someone that knows nothing about cameras, lens etc..works a treat. Loved it

too soft to Zeiss
I was rather disappointed with the lens, and returned it since there was a strange jump happening whenever i manually turned the lens to zoom. It was also rather soft and i realize that Zeiss did only the coating (which explains it all, except the price). At first I thought I got a dud and would order the same lens again with better luck, but now I'm rethinking this plan....

Excellent Lens!
I recently participated in a photography workshop and used this lens. Images were sharp with proper lighting. In outside daytime use the lens was perfect. I was aware of the corner and side softness complaints about this lens, but in my test shots I found the side and corner sharpness was fine. I'm looking forward to using this lens on the new a7000 when that is released.

Over all great results.
If I look very carefully, at wide angles there does appear to be some fall off in sharpness, though I've not had the chance to check if it the lens or depth of field issues at the more distant edges of a building. The overall impression of the lens is really very good. Images are bright, nice contrast and colors that are naturally vibrant. I'm keeping and using this one.

See previous review by Artichoke...Plus.
After a few weeks, this lens continues to satisfy w/NEX-7. It is sharp across the field and corners, well-built, smooth and easy to operate. This is especially gratifying after first receiving a defective one that B&H replaced immediately. The fixed f4 aperture is excellent at the tele extension. I will use this for everything...and I'm very picky about image quality.

Amazing lens
Yes, it's expensive for an F4 lens, but there's nothing worse than spending a ton of money on a constant F2.8 lens only to find out that it's soft wide open. This lens is extremely sharp wide open at most focal lengths. The extreme wide end benefits from stopping down one stop but that's to be expected. If you want one single travel lens, this is the one to have.

Love the 70mm f/4 lens by Zeiss!
I use the lens for mostly portrait and landscape shots. The zoom is really great and adds to the experience of the lens without a doubt! Something I've noticed is that my ability to take shots of people with the sun or sunset shining behind them has grown exponentially- I can get a much more crisp shot and can zoom without compromising on quality. Great get!

It is an OK lens, it is acceptable but not great.
Rating it very generously I gave it 4 Stars but comparing to my previously owned Nikon 16-80, does not even come close. Wide open it is soft close to the edges and corners due to decentering problem, becomes acceptable by stopping it down 2 F stops, at F11 is Good, just Good not Very Good. I certainly expected a much better performance for this price.

All round great elns
I have had this lens for almost 2 years, and it is excellent. I have one other lens, and they take turns living on my a6000 camera. I love how light weight it is. The IQ is so good, and the APS-C sensor so large, that cropping deep into an image still yields sharp results. Thus, I haven't felt the need to buy a (heavy and expensive) telephoto zoom.

Gets the job done
I've given it 5 stars regardless of the price (though I feel the price should have been lowered) but that's quality glass. This is the first Zeiss lens I've used and i'm not disappointed. Great sharpness across the whole F4 range up to 70mm. Fits ok on the NEX 6, no bulky or anything. My zoom ring is a bit stiff but probably because it's still new.

Small, light, compact and great quality.
This is my first purchase of this lens and I love it. It is light, compact and easy to use. I used to use a Canon 24-105 with Canon bodies and it was twice as heavy or more. I don't see any difference in image quality from the Canon lens to this lens. I would like to see another one with 24-105 for FE Sony Full frame, which I also own.

Glued to my camera
I have found not that many great reviews on this 4/16-70, most likely because the price level; good things are not cheap though you always find other things. This is an amazing lens, very sharp, outstanding color quality, a focal length for almost 95% of your shots, light weight, it is just the perfect pair for the A6500. It is Zeiss!

Good lens for prime or kit replacement
This lens is a good replacement for kit lenses supplied with NEX cameras. Focus is sharp throughout the zoom range. The Zeiss color and characteristics come through beautifully. Aperture of F4 was initially a concern but Optical Steady Shot gives it another two stops. Depth of field is surprisingly flexible for creamy bokeh results.

Excellent all-around / walkaround lens
This is now my all-around go-to lens, and it stays on my camera most of the time. Typically great Zeiss quality, sharp and great colors. OSS works very well and helps to offset the f/4 max aperture when shooting indoors. It's definitely pricey, especially given it's an APS-C lens, but I don't regret buying it.

Well made sharpie
I've used this lens for close-up, landscape, studio still life, and macro (with Kenko extension tubes). Images are sharp on a6000 body. OSS works great. Constant f/4. I now use it for nature photography handheld that I previously did with big Nikon DSLR on tripod. This lens is worth the $$$.

Very sharp zoom lens
So much better than the 'kit' lens that I purchased with my Sony A6000. I have several Sigma prime lenses that are quite sharp but got tired of constantly have to switch lenses. This zoom is just as sharp and the range 16-70 (24 - 105 on full frame) is just about perfect for all day use.

Awesome, you get what you pay for.
Yes, the lens is expensive and I thought long and hard about getting it but after a few outings with the lens, I'm glad I did. I'm using the lens on my a6000 right now and I've produced some of the sharpest images I've ever created. This lens will be well worth the price in the long run.

Awesome walk-around lens
- Sharp, great detail in the photos - Fits my A6000 perfectly, great size, light weight - 16-70mm is a good range - Much sharper than the 16-50mm Sony pancake, although it is quite a bit larger - Is becoming the lens that lives most of the time on the camera when I am just out and about

Nice lens
Bought this lens for a Sony A6000 for walk around shooting, particularly kids activities. Have not had it long but so far it seems reasonably sharp & responsive. The only complaint so far is a roughness in the telescoping action that comes & goes. Hopefully it does not become any worse.
