Made a New Camera of My Sony A3000
I replaced the kit zoom lens on my Sony A3000 with this lens and it made it a new camera. The fine optical qualities of the lens coupled with its speed made image stabilization unnecessary and the sharpness relaxed the need for zoom-framing. It's a wonderful lens for street/candid photography and portraits.

Disappointin
It was no better than the 14-50 kit lens or even the 50mm 1.8. I called Sony and he actually said that it was entirely possible with its best feature was the bokeh I can get broken with what I already. Own and don't need a $$ status symbol. It was very disappointing to say the least.

Professional Grade!
Recently got a NEX-7. As a landscape photographer, I usually use my D800E, but this camera and lens combination is really amazing. I get RAW images that compete very well with the big DSLR, and the lens is as sharp and contrasty as you would expect from Zeiss. It could be a bit shorter, but overall excellent.

Wonderful detail
With this lens I'm getting wonderful detail on my images with the Sony NEX 7. Smooth focusing and great color rendition. Good price too for what you get.

Spectacular Lens!
The results of using this lens are far superior to any of the other lenses I have for my NEX-7. The output far surpasses Sony's other lenses.

expected better
in short, the pictures are nice and sharp, but too much distortion for a lance this price

NEX ^ & Zeiss 24 mm f1.8 lens
I wanted a great walk around lens for travel. I decided to buy a prime and ordered the 35 mm f1.8 Sony prime lens. After reading more reviews, I ordered the 24 mm Zeiss. I took both lenses on a weekend trip to Tuscon and thought they were both good lenses based on what I could see in the computer. However, there were several photos taken with the Zeiss lens close up of flowers that were absolutely beautifully focused. I don't think the 35 mm coul... Show More

Sharper than my Canon 35mm f/1.4L lens
I used it only twice, taking portrait and landscape shots on my NEX7. The colors are rich. The image quality is just superb!! It is well built. It is quite pricey. But you got what you pay for.

Happy
Good glass, shallow depth of field. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is that it is not that different for the price, from the Sony lenses.

Great walk-around lens
Wish I had been able to purchase this lens with my NEX-7. Images are so crisp, a zoom lens is almost unnecessary. Looking forward to the release of additioal e-mount Zeiss lenses.

Best lens available... at a high cost
I have the Sony kit lens and the 18-200 Tamaron. I found them adequate. On a recent trip to Cuba a friend loaned me for a short time his 24mm Zeiss. It is a remarkable lens and became very impressed with its capabilities. I was very hesitant to buy one for myself because of the cost. I'm on a four week trip through asia and decided to go for it. For now the 24mm has stayed on my NEX 7. I haven't really evaluated my photos yet, but so far I am enj... Show More

Nex zeiss 24mm11
The lenss is just fantastic: very well made, and just fantastic photos. By the way, I also tried the Nikon 24mm D with adapter, and it is not really far from the Zeiss. Of course, it is manual, not autofocus, but price may be also an issue!

The lens to have for your NEX-7 - if...
If you like the focal length, this is THE lens to have for your NEX-7. I'm returning mine, not because it isn't a great lens, but because I find I prefer the 30mm Sigma in most situations. The Sigma is smaller, lighter, and I usually want the (slightly) greater focal length. At this point in time I'd probably just wait for the imminent release of the Sony 35mm f1.8. But again, if you like the 24mm focal length, don't mind the size or cost, this is a great lens.

Really glad I bought this $$$ lens
I was nervous buying this lens because I recently lost my job so I was concerned about the money. But I was about to go on a once in a lifetime trip to Africa. Long story short, this was a really good purchase. 1 I got incredible shots out the window of a bouncing jeep on a dirt road at 1/2000 speed. 2 the IQ is so good that blowing up the photo is better than buying a lesser zoom. 3 I became the go to photographer for all indoor shots and low li... Best Lens in my NEX 7 kit
There have been alot of reviews by owners of this lens. I read just about all of them before I decided to buy. Not much to add except to say the positive ones, you know, just about all of them, are right on. I've got five lenses for my NEX 7, but I'm sure that the 24f18z will be on my camera just about all the time. Best lens I've ever owned.

Quality at a cost
Good built quality yet remains light. Focus quietly and fast. Image is sharp in the center wide open and the corners pick up sharpness quite fast. It does come at a price. But it is the best native lens for the E-mount yet. Would have been nice to weatherseal the lens, especially at this price.

Worth it!
The price seems steep until you compare it against Zeiss & other high-end 35mm primes for full-frame systems (and of course Leica glass). In the grand scheme of things, this lens actually offers a very compelling combination of speed, performance, compactness, versatility and cost. All at my most-used viewing angle! I have been using old Nikkor AI and Minolta MD 24mm f/2.8 lenses, adapted to my NEX-7. They had decent performance at times but I ha... Show More

Great with Nex-7
The images are so sharp that I can crop heavily and still have all the detail for beautiful photos. So in that way, it's almost like having a zoom without the bulk. It's just fun to shoot with because the image quality is so pleasing.

Easily the best E-Mount lens so far
Almost impossible to find in Europe, I was thankful to find it in stock at B&H, with fast and easy shipment to Switzerland. The lens comes in typical Sony lens packaging, but with the added bonus of a good quality lens pouch - something you do not get with the usual Sony E-Mount series. Although, those wishing to truly protect their somewhat pricey investment should opt for a more robust third-party lens case.Build quality is excellent, with a cle... Show More

Sharp lens with short min focus distance
Only negative is that you cannot use B+W UV filters with lens hood, but works fine with Rodenstock brand UV filter. This lens stays on my NEX-7 nearly all the time, and is a great, fast, sharp wide angle that can be used up close as needed. My only other lenses for this camera are Leica (which are incredible on NEX-7), but AF is convenient. Automatic zoom for critical focus is a nice feature. Get one if you can!

Best prime for the NEX System
It is worth every penny. Great for family photographs at home, and it is comfortabley wide enough for events when you need to frame groups of people. Very nice built, very high quality that even matches the quality of my Canon L lenses. I am extremely happy that I have bought this lens, excellent image quality even in the corners. The best lens for the NEX System so far.

Best NEX lens so far
Use as my main lens on the NEX-7 now. Excellent lens build, picture quality. Focus ring is not rubber, which is nice cause doesn't stick to dirt. But very expensive for what you get. No image stabalization means this lens is definately not suitable for handheld videos. Also very large for a 35mm prime. bigger than kit lens!

Works great in combination with sel50f18
I use this lens on my Sony NEX-VG10 and VG20 camcorders for wedding videography. The reason I bought it was a result of a groom asking me to shoot video in low light of the guests dancing (he requested that my partner and I do not shoot with lights on). The only lens I had that could perform well in this situation was the Sony 50 f1.8. My fellow videographer used the wide end of the Sony FX1000 at f1.6 for overhead dancing shots in this situation...
