Incredible lens with considerations
I use this lens on an A7R II as a two-way lens for macro/still life and portrait photography. It produces images of stunning image quality. A versatile lens!
Well constructed lens that produces sharp images both close-up and at distances. Made for macro work, but works well for portrait and product photography too! When the range limiter is set properly the lens will quickly focus and track moving subjects like birds. The Auto/Manual focus mode switch on the lens takes some time to get used to, but works well. The lens feels solid, and it works well as a 135mm lens on my Sony a6300 mirrorless camera.

Best macro lens I've had
This fine 90mm macro with an f/2.8 aperture is turning out to be a wonderful portrait lens. My first day out with it, I tested its focusing shooting random people in the park, and it's a winner -- Fast & Sharp. FWIW, I also happen to really like Sony's bokeh. I just find it very natural. I'm a happy camper with this lens and would recommend this to anybody looking for either a great 90mm or a fine macro.

Extremely sharp lens
This is Sony's first FE macro lens. At 90mm it makes a great portrait lens as well. The lens produces extremely sharp images and good bokeh when shot wide open. The lens is solid, well built, and focuses to 11 inchest. It also has a programmable button on the lens which can be set in the camera's menu to focus or for any other camera function the user desires.

This one over the Sony 85mm 1.8 (SEL85F18)
Much more flexible lens than the Sony 85mm 1.8 (SEL85F18) and sharper. Love the AF to Manual switch ring. The Auto Focus assistance (which can be turned off) is nice but takes getting use to and feels really only practical for things that are pretty still. Sometimes feel it should be a bit sharper so there is room for improvement but overall a nice lens for the focal length and macro uses.

Great lens, takes some getting used to
This is a great lens; I absolutely love it so far (I've had it for about 2 weeks so far). It definitely takes some getting used to, especially if you're used to simple lenses with only focus rings and no other buttons/switches on them. I am, by no means, a professional photographer, but as an average user I really like this lens. Though the price is a little steep for most I feel it's worth the investment if you're looking for a great macro lens without dropping more for the Zeiss. If I can figure out how to add a photo to this review I will definitely add one.

Fantastic Lens!
Super sharp and one of my two favorite lenses for my A7S. The 90mm focal length takes some getting used to, as I typically shoot wide. My longest other lens is 70mm on the 24-70. The macro is outstanding. I've had this mounted to my camera 50% of the time since I bought it. Focus is super fast and precise. The lens is just a tad heavy but not objectionable.

Great lens
Great lens. Like the 'push / pull' control for AF/ MF control. Focus limiter makes for quick auto focus. Images are tack sharp. Love the lens!!

Kudos to Sony and B&H
Previous reviews of this lens have said it all, so I would like to mention how I bought this lens rather than one $400 more. I spoke with B&H sales and explained that I wanted a portrait/street lens and said I was considering the 100mm. He commented that was a excellent new lens, but said he felt this lens would be more effective. So with their superior customer service I purchased this lens and find it to be excellent. So kudos to Sony and B&H for having such an impressive member in sales. I shoot with a A7Rii and A6300.

Very Sharp Lens prefect for Macro
I am Videographer and I was looking for 85mm lens. 3 Lenses I was comparing Sony GM 85 1.4 and Zeiss Batis 85 1.8 and Sony 90 2.8. The reason I chose Sony 90mm is Because I liked Macro function and this lens is very Sharp. I like the mode you can swich to MF ring and this is really good for MF. I would buy this lens again
I use this lens for a variety of uses.. Macro and Portrait. Very sharp lens, and renders Bokeh well for portraits. I would highly recommend this lens.

My personal favorite.
I love this lens. I like it more than my 55 Ziess. It's a bit heftier, but I find myself using it for just about any and everything. It's razor sharp and goes well with the a7rii. Oh yea and it's affordable. I bought it as a temporary till the Gmaster was dropped but liked it so much that I decided not to buy the gmaster. I like the bonus macro ability. Waiting to see the sigma FE primes.

Everyone should add this lens to their collection!
This lens is the most fun lens I've ever used. I used it for macro, close up head shots of animals and even a couple portrait photo shoots with clients and the sharpness just blows me away. I can't wait to get more creative with it as I use it more.

Excellent lens, highly recommended
I have just purchased a Sony a7R II to replace my Nikon D800 and had purchased the Vello adaptor to use with my Nikon 105mm AFS VR f/2.8 Macro. Apart from feeling heavy compared to my Sony lenses I found that the images I obtained were not as easy to capture as with the much lighter Sony 90mm. A Great Lens
I first used this lens on my A3000 (Don't laugh, A 3000 was/is awesome for the money just a pain to use) and it was the reason I stayed with Sony , buying an A6000. I use it for my jewelry web site and I could not be happier. 5 stars all the way.

Finally a great lens for the a6000
I gave this system to my wife and we have been trying every lens available including zeiss and sony zeiss and this is the first lens we have found where we looked at the pictures and said wow. Others ranged from bad to pretty good, but this lens is excellent...it is big though.

Awesome Lens
This is an amazing Macro lens and even a solid portrait lens. This is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used! Look at some of the photos I took in my studio with a motocross style setup!

Bokeh Killer of the century!!
Awesome lens. The bokeh this lens produces is ridiculously good. DxOMark has this lens rated as their #2 sharpest lens EVER. High Quality glass. Should be a G Master lens IMHO. Only con would be the auto focus is slow but I don't even use the auto focus as I prefer the manual focus so I see no reason to take a star off it's rating. worth the $

Quickly finding that I want to use this lens for much more than macro. Solid build. Fits great on the A7 series. Crystal clear optics. Slow auto focus, but this isn't really a lens you'd need fast focus with... Highly recommend

Fits my Sony 90mm f2.8 macro lens
I have a Sony A6300 and the FE 90 mm f2.8 macro G OSS lens I own wobbled considerably when mounted on my tripod, even w/ a solid RRS Ballhead. The ASTAT-Nex Tripod Collar has stabilized the lens considerably. i take away 1 star because the unit came with no directions and I wasn't sure exactly how to install the lens adapter without a trial and error process.
