Breathtaking. I have only my own copy but it is breathtaking. Not as heavy as I expected. Feels great with or without the battery grip on the full-frame mirrorless body. worth the wait...
It actually took month and a day, from my pre-order with B&H to receiving the lens. With the few dollars I had left, I set up a little informal lens test, (taped dollar bills and stamps on a card) to see just how the lens would perform it terms of sharpness, color, bokeh. The hype is real - I love this lens! I prefer the manual focus to the auto as, once you get accustomed to, it is much faster. It is a bit pricey but in my opinion worth it.

Fabulous Lens
Minimal use as just obtained 1 week ago. A few test images suggests to be extremely well corrected and very very sharp on my Sony A7RII. Have not used with the extender however.

I love this lens!!
I have never owned a 70-200 lens, & had a bit of a void in my lens distances. I'm glad I waited for this to come. I'm still getting to know it's nuances, but very happy so far.

sony G master lenses worth the money ?
sony has always been on the cutting edge and the new G master lenses will improve your images no matter if you are a professional photographer or enthusiast. we use the 24/70 2.8 lens mostly for photo journalism and it is beast not only capable but also rugged takes a beating every day. highly recommend this lens images are always natural and sharp. joe jacoby

Nice addition to Sony Alpha Line
I've used this lens for a few weeks with both my A7RII and A6300. I'm happy with it and it pretty well lives up to the hype. A bit pricy but it is really the best solution for alpha kit. I have used it with the 1.4X multiplier which takes it out to over 400mm for super 35mm video. Not much loss of sharpness even with the 1.4X. I wrote a review (George) where I said that the resolution of this lens was outstanding, even wide open. There is some softening off center at f2.8 and f3.5, especially at 200mm. I also indicated in my first review that the lens did not focus fast. I will amend that: the lens focuses fast in good or moderately good light. I am writing in this review not in comparison with any other 70-200mm available in the market. I am just sharing experience after few weeks of use shooting random subjects. Outstanding Resolution; Focussing a bit slow
For my photography the two characteristics most important for a lens are resolution and speed/accuracy of auto focus. My camera is the Sony A7RM2. The FE f2.8 GM 70-200 mm lens arrived a week ago and I subjected it to resolution tests, and compared it with several other SONY lenses, including the outstanding FE G 90 mm Macro lens. I like it!
Take this from an amateur hobbyist: I've been shooting birds in my yard testing the lens for a week. have gotten some really sharp images at 200 from 40 feet. When cropped on the bird, some super sharp images of their feathers. Adding the new Sony 1.4 teleconverter, same result at maximum zoom. That converter adds hardly any weight or length, by the way.

I would not buy this lens again unless something changes
I bought this very expensive lens to use with my a6300. The quality of the images it produces is excellent, it is very sharp, but I find it extremely slow to acquire focus and it hunts a lot in low light. I shoot live dance performances for a living so I shoot in varying low and contrasty tungsten theater lighting conditions, and I am used to my Professional Nikon Cameras and lenses which lock on the instant I half depress the button. Great lens - just not good for birding
I love my Sony A7RII and this lens is a great upgrade from the FE 70-200 f/4 G OSS lens. I like to shoot hand held and you can just do that with this lens. Be aware that this lens is significantly heavier to the point that I don't like to carry it for more than an hour or so. Mounted on the a7rii wither a vertical grip the lens is not too large or heavy considering it is a f2.8. Hunts a bit in low light and I'm sure that is more body than lens. IQ is very good on par with the Nikon version I had several years back. What shined for me was the IQ with the 2x converter. IMO noticibly better than the same Nikon combo or the Sony A mount 70 400 5-5.6 vii. Bokeh is not stellar IMO, but I may be spoiled with Zeiss and Leica ... Show More

Fantastic
Finally after all these months, my 70-200 Gm arrives and it was worth the wait! Build feels solid, for me personally size & weight isn't an issue. The image quality is awesome. Of all the images I took so far I upload one from a test shot in broad daylight at work LOL. Downloaded to cell phone and uploaded here. It is sharper then it appears. Bokeh is nice

I was worried that this lenses would not be a good as the FE70-200 F4. It is better in my opinion. It is very shape and has some nice improvements over the F4 lens.

I am a portrait photographer. I just got my new sony lens and love it. I am going to sell my canon lens today. I was hoping the lens was a little smaller and lighter but its a great lens.

Best 70-200 around
I am one of the lucky people who received this lens. Everything people say about this lens is absolutely 100% correct. I got the lens from a local California dealer(B&H has a large list of pre orders, my name was way down the list) in Mission Viejo with the help from the Sony reps(Thank you Rob and Marcus). I moved from Nikon to Sony last year, and I have to say the Sony Gmaster lens is superior to the Nikon 70-200 v2(and I loved that lens) in sharpness, and Bokeh. Must Own for Sony Pros
I have been waiting for this lens for years and it has not disappointed. It is an excellent lens for photo and video shooting. Upon receiving the lens, the next day I had a wedding to film. I used the lens almost the entire day and it was a fantastic performer. This is a Pro grade lens... very good quality and it's sharp
I have used this lens with the a7r, a7r2 and the a6300. It is excellent all the way thru the range. Every bit as good as my Canon 70-200 IS L II f/2.8. continuous AF in movie mode works well. I am totally happy except for the issue that Sony bodies have which restrict the PDAF on apertures smaller than f/8.

Fantastic (but expensive) lens for the A7 bodies
I have an A7RII and this lens is a wonderful addition to the system. Autofocus is snappy and the zoom ring is smooth. The only downsides of the lens are that it's rather large/heavy and expensive. Still I'm glad I bought it and it allows me to get good photos in less than ideal situations that I couldn't have before. I've already gotten many great photos with it of my children and their teams playing outdoor sports. While I've mostly used it outdoors thus far, I look forward to using it in gymnasiums over the winter months.

Sony released only few lenses for Canada and according to Vistek Store i am the only who has this lens so far :p When i hold this lens i hugged it. Thanks Sony. After a few shots you realize what was missing in your kit. Bit heavy but only quality matters here. Thanks Sony.
