If you like Sony & 24mm
This lens is excellent. Clarity, sharpness,AF speed, light weight. If you shoot Sony and like 24mm just buy this and stop checking online photo forums. Sigma has size & AF issues,Batis is great but not as crisp wide open,Loxia is manual. Samyang is a QC gamble. This lens is priced a little high I think (all Sony is) but if you shoot 24mm a lot or for work, this is the best option.

Brilliantly constructed and performance
I am in love with this lens. It is a beautifully constructed piece of glass that performs excellently. The weight of this lens is less than the sigma fe mount and it is noticeable when I brought it on a recent hike. The weight difference is well worth it in the long run. I barely noticed it during the hike. Optically, the results are brilliant as expected from the sony GM line. The backorder time for me was about 6 weeks. Good hunting.

The 24 is a God lens - salesman in Singapore
This lens is bolted to my a9. The a9 is bolted to my face. Goodness, the color rendition, crisp details, edge to edge brightness, vibrancy, and character are all captivating and breathtaking. The lens fits the alpha body so perfectly. Out of the ten lenses I have used a lot with the alpha cameras, the 24gm feels the best balanced, both in weight and size. Its very comfortable to walk around and handhold the camera for hours and take handheld shot... Show More

Theres a reason it has been hard to get one. Outstanding image quality. Sharp when wide open. Lightweight. Minimal chromatic aberration.

Great 24mm Prime
This lens is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a fast, wide, quality lens that was robust and well built. This checked all the boxes a focal length that I quite enjoy. I have used the 35mm, 55mm and 85mm native sony glass on our A7riii and they all drawbacks that led me to keep looking. I find the size of this lens to be very manageable (the 85mm G Master is a monster) while having some really good optics. The CA is there for sure but anyo... Show More

Sorry to say: Im sending it back
I bought the lens based on rave reviews and the fact of being f1.4. I do a lot of night photography, so performance wide open was everything, really. I was disappointed in how badly the lens performed as you get away from the center of frame. Stars got softer, as well as square or hourglass shaped (instead of round) at the edges. And, I dont think the images were sharp at infinity at all when shooting wide open, even in the center of frame. I wonder if I got a bad iteration of the lens. So, back it goes. I shot with the A7rII.

Come on Sony..
Sharpness is excellent! But there is either a problem with QC or engineering at Sony because the lens makes a variety of noises when being operated in the various video/photo modes of my a7Riii.. I love the focal length, sharpness, ergo, but come on Sony, at this price point and for a GM lens, you really have to do better. Disappointed.

Unique imagery
The combination of a wide perspective and a narrow depth of field is unequalled by any other lens in my kit. Great for people in places. Use it bolted to a Sony 7R III. Love the aperture ring.

Great quality photos but loud
Was very concerned about the loud noises it made while focusing. Loud on auto, but super loud on aperture priority. I checked online and many people have reported this issue. Came close to returning it for another but seems to be the norm for this lens. Quality of photos are amazing, some distortion in the corners sometimes but all correctible. In any case, love the lens. My new walking around lens. Too bad I cant say the same thing about the awful customer service at B&H.

Yep, its all that.
A stand out amongst my other native glass. Its getting as much time as my beloved 55 1.8 lens, and checks many of the same boxes but its faster and had better ergonomics. What isnt to like? Price? Cry once.

Spectacular Lens!!!
I actually tried two copies of this lens to confirm that focus noise, aperture noise, and some tactile thumping during focus is normal for this lens. Both lenses behaved identically. This lens is crazy sharp essentially at all apertures. I actually took it on a golf outing and was able to crop down a very small area with great resolution. Appears very sharp, even at corners, wide open. No question this is a stellar lens and a must have if you need an auto focuse lens in this focal length. Ideal for landscape, interior shots, and portraits if used correctly.

IM BLOWN AWAY!
I am utterly blown away by the image quality and bokeh from this lens. I watched and read ALL the reviews about the 24mm 1.4 G master but di not quite get it. I watched them again after using the lens and NOW I understand. WOW!! Wide and shallow depth of field. Creamy, gorgeous. Really like nothing Ive ever used. BTW I have the Zeisss 35mm 1.4, 16-35mm 2.8 G, Leica lenses and Zeiss supersede primes for pro use. Still massively impressed. A+++ (attached is the first image I took in my jeep the moment I took the lens out of the box and put it on my A7III)

Worth the wait. The hype is real.
Preordered mine in early November and it was delivered Dec 26th. Looks and feels very good on A7iii. Images so far are amazing. This is my first GM lens. Im in northern Dallas with a lot of light pollution and I was still able to shoot Orions belt through a break in the overcast skies. As expected its razor sharp. I cant wait to shoot the Milky Way GC this summer with this awesome lens.

WOW, WOW, WOW - Selling my 16-35mm 2.8 GM
So I recently brought a used but mint copy of the 16-35mm f2.8 GM and it is a pretty awesome lens, I normally dont shot past 24mm, 20mm on a good day. The main reason why I picked up this 16-35mm GM is because I got it for under $1500 in LN condition. I wanted the 24mm GM and I was one of the ones who pre-ordered as soon as it was eligible for pre-order, but my patience got the best of me and cancelled my order two weeks in; and it was one of my... Amazing but has ? issue
First off, this lens produces spectacular images..just amazing rendering and sharpness. As good as it gets. However my copy makes audible noise when focusing ? aperture blade and motor movement. Not only can I hear this, I actually can feel inner components moving. Sony told me the lens should be silent so I have requested an exchange which B&H is doing right now. Will update review when second copy has been received and I can compare its performance to the first.

my new best friend.
Im a documentary/journalist video shooter and I love this lens for my work. Like other Sony GM lenses the picture quality is mouth watering. I love the colors it produces. The size is compact and it feels pretty solid (although, still not as robust as Canon L glass). I bought this lens for the quality and AF that I occasionally use in my video work and which Sony is finally improving in their A7 series cameras. However, my one complaint exists fo... Show More

Outstanding
From the packaging on into the lens the feeling was of quality. The click detent lens shade with the velvety finish inside to reduce flare was a nice touch Ive not seen before. The focus and aperture rings just feel good, the lens is solid. So Im using it. I think this is probably the best lens Ive ever had, I am so very pleased with it. Small apertures do have a little hunting grunt as it focuses, but no big deal. The images are stunning, supe... Show More

WOW!
My first GM series lens. Very sharp, even wide open. Corners are sharp too. Very bright. I love the aperture with de-click option. Build quality is excellent. It feels really good in your hands. Just about as perfect a 24mm f1.4 can possibly be. Only down side is the price is a bit high compared to Sigma. This one is a keeper for me!

sharp and beautiful color rendition
It is sharper than Sigma 24mm and Nikon 24mm, and ZE 25mm f2, and bit better than Batis 25mm. Color rendition is similar to Batis 25mm. After testing with these indoor test, I feel it is best ever 24mm in the market for mirrorless camera.
