A little pricey but worth it
Expensive, but a really sharp and versatile lens. Because of its broad zoom range, I have found myself using this as my only lens.

Not A Bad Lens
I already own the Sony FE 70-200G f4, which is a very good tele-zoom, but I was drawn to the all-in-one capabilities that this lens offers for travel photography. I received the lens today and my first impression was that it is heavy, but well balanced on my A7 II. According to the specs it is slightly lighter than the 70-200G, but it feels heavier. I tested this lens against my 70-200 and the Sony 28-70 kit lens. I shot a series of photos in raw... Show More

Replace your kit with this bad boy
I decided to purchase this lens since I own a 55mm and a 150-600mm. This lens is perfect for a walk-around, all in one. I am very happy with the OSS that the 55 prime does not have, especially in low light situations. Bokeh is decent but doesn't come close to my faster 55mm Zeiss. So far I am very pleased. Nice wide angle at 24mm and tightens up as you zoom in. No focusing issues with plenty of light at either end of the zoom ranges. I always use... Show More

I got this to substitute for my Sony 18-200mm lens. I got this because of the longer focal length. I did not keep it because of the following:Much heavier than the 18-300, which is not a FEPicture quality at higher zooms were worse than the 18-200The focal length increase was not worth the cons of the lens for me.

Sharper and lighter than I expected
I've had this lens for only 3 weeks now, but have already shot hundreds of pictures with it. My test shots so far are turning out better than I expected. With my Sony a7 Mark II, I find that it is very well balanced, and does not creep at all when hanging from the strap. At the full 240 extension, I'm seeing just a small bit of vignetting in the corners (see example shots), but this can be easily tweaked by editing. I've read that people find thi... Show More

Worthy Lens
Weighty, but not too heavy. At full zoom, it is a little soft, though when I compare it to a cropped/enlarged image of the same scene with my Zeiss 24-70 at 70mm, the 240mm image is better. It has a good firm zoom, which I appreciate as other zooms that I have had creeped. Not the fastest at focus, but you are buying a super zoom, not a prime. This may not be the pinnacle of zoom lenses, but it is certainly worthy of the price and the convenience of an all around lens.

Good lens for the price.
It is a mediocre lens. It can focus very fast and when in forcus the photos can be sharp but not the best. Can produce good photos when used on tripod and remote control. Good lens but if you expect professional quality , this is not the one. Just my opinion.

I may have received a defective lens.
I have several super zooms and am well aquainted with their pros and cons. Over much of the zooms range with this lens, the results were quite good, however I could not get one sharp photo toward the telephoto end of this zoom. It must have been a defective sample as the shots were so bad at the high end. A different copy of this lens may be much better. B&H made the return easy and I'd give them five stars.

Adequate Zoom Lens
I used this lens mainly for animal and bird photography. I already owned the 18-200mm Sony lens and wanted this for the added zoom capability. However, two factors kept me from choosing it over the older lens: First, the weight. Secondly, when I compared both lenses at their full zoom and increased the size of the 200mm picture, I felt the older lens was a bit sharper and did not have the fringing that the 240 had. I did not want to keep both lenses and it was a hard decision, but I decided to stick with my older lens.

Excellent everyday lens
This has been a great all around lens for me because of the focal distances that it covers. I am impressed by the sharpness at distances.

POOR LENS QUALITY
I use it with the A7R. Nevertheless it is not a sharp lens, it is actually very bad for its price. Images shot with a longer focal length than 120-140mm are soft. At 240mm is extremely soft. And since there is no way to make a microadjustment on the camera (it should not need it because it is a mirrorless), I have not found a way to fix this. I will get rid of it and buy something else. I am very disappointed at the poor quality of this lens.

This range for this price cannot be beat!
So I was initially hesitant to get this lens base on the size and weight specs, but once in hand and on the camera (A7II) it is not that bad. It is still a large lens and will not be like having a Leica lens mounted on an A7S walking around doing street photography. For what the lens offers in zoom range the size is acceptable in my opinion, and for me, on my copy, the image quality does not disappoint. On my Sony cameras I have Leica glass and t... Show More

Loose lens hood
Recently purchased the Sony 24-240mm lens. A nice all around lens...but, the lens fits a little loose on the a6000 and the lens hood did not fit tight. The lens hood fell off and was lost. Sony would not warranty the hood. The only option was to purchase a new hood from Sony parts for $. The price seems exorbitantly high. Now using the lens without a hood.

Sony Super Zoom
I was a bit aprehensive about trying another super zoom, as past experience was not happy experience. Thus far, I have found this to be much better than I expected and better than previous super zooms I've owned. The sharpness was good, though at higher zoom ranges I found it began to lose sharpness on the edges. I have not done exhaustive tests with this, nor do I think that I will. I has thus far proven to be an acceptable lens for my everyday run-around. Saves me having to carry too much otherwise. I like the range.

Better than my 70-200f4
I am not a professional but have just bought the 24-240 (did not care for the quality of the ziess 24-70 I had so was looking for kinda replacement) and have been shooting on the a7ii for a couple days. I already had bought the 70-200 F4. Honestly after doing many comparison shots at equal stops and distances I think my 24-240 is sharper over the same range than my 70-200. Because of that I have decided to return the 70-200 since I'm still with i... Show More

Sony mirrorless enthusiastic
I have been a Sony mirrorless eMount user since the inception of the Nex5, than continuing my Sony journey with the Nex7. I was very happy with the performance and versatility of the Sony SELP18200 18mm to 200mm zoom lens for my Nex series cameras. So when this came out it was a natural fit for my needs, and has not let me down. Although it is a heavier lens, that is to be expected with full frame. I am sure many people will disagree with me, but... Show More

Amazing all around lens
From wide angle to telephoto this lens delivers. I use to carry 3 different lenses to accommodate this range but know I just use this one without compromising clarity. I shoot landscape and architectural. I can easily go from one to the other with this single lens.

So far so good.
Just received so have only been able to take a few test shots. Good color repoduction, vibrancy, and sharpness in daylight shots. Have only a handful of lower light pics (hand held) to go by. In the low light results are acceptable but not the lenses strength. A reasonable trade off to get the 24-240 capability.

Much better than I expected
I have many camera and lens combos from the big names and therefore have a pretty good basis for comparison. I was rather surprised by the modest price for this lens, so my expectations were not that high. When I got the lens, I mounted it up and did a 3-way comparison between the Sony 24-70 and the Canon 28-300. I found that at all focal lengths that I checked (24,28,35,50,70,100,150 and 200) that the Sony lens was flatter (more consistent image... Show More

Soft beyond 150 mm
Up to 150mm AF is fine, but from there to 240mm there seems to be a problem with infinity focus. Not sure if it's an AF issue or a lens element? issue. But almost all my infinity focus shots are oof. Even in manual focus mode it's very difficult to get a sharp shot.

Good Lens - Great value!
I bought this lens to go with a Sony A7 for a light Hiking / Travel camera. This lens is a real bargain for what it is. Although it is a little heavy it does mean that you do not have to carry multiple lenses or have to keep changing lenses. The only thing it does not have that I wish it did (like all other super zooms) is a macro capability (I used to have a Canon 24-105 F/4 L that I used for hiking and you could get some fairly good macro shots... I am not sure yet.
I like the idea of wide range lens. I am using it on my A6000. I do not mind the weight and it feels good in the hand. The real question is the final result and after a week of use I am completely not sure. I am far from a pro, but I am not a point and shoot user either.
