Expected Better Indoor Low Light Photos
I bought this camera because of its relatively large sensor size & my experience with other Sony cameras and camcorders in hopes this small camera would produce near DSLR quality images and I can use it as a family use every day point & shoot walk-a-round pocket camera in auto mode. Unfortunately I'm a little disappoint with the low light indoor focusing, blur/shack & noise performance in its 2 auto modes. Both auto modes seem to favors large ape... Show More

Everything I was lead to expect...
For a couple of years, I have been thinking about a compact travel camera. I was considering Canon, Panasonic and others including the Sony RX100 II. When the Sony RX100 came out with version 3, I made the decision. I was impressed with the sensor and the faster Ziess 1.8-2.8 lens. The review by DXO Mark left no doubt in my mind. After using it for a couple of weeks, I am very pleased!

Excellent
I am not a camera expert, but I have found this camera very easy to use and with excellent features that are explained in the menu and easy to figure out. I have used the camera to shoot video of wrestling match and to take still pictures and action shots. It connects easily to the computer and makes uploading the pictures simple and fast. I wish it could zoom in closer, but I also understood that to be a drawback of buying a compact camera.

My brand new Sony DSC RX100 M3 camera
I've had my Sony RX100 M3 for only about a week. But in that short time I find myself deeply respectful of Sony for their expertise in producing the incredible little RX100 M3. In a word, it's a gem. It is so packed with features and functions (the articulating LCD and fabulous electronic view finder, for instance) as to be almost overwhelming, especially for a semi-novice such as myself. But, I'm hardly complaining, as I look forward to explorin... Show More

Best for 99.9% of people
This camera is a jewel, I really appreciate the phrase the best camera is that with you the camera is quite small and quite capable The reviews that stated that camera has not enough zoom, controls not quite simple etc. is just bunch of bs. Trust me when you see the size of this unit you will be amazed how capable this camera is. Of cause you can listen some commercial or watch y tube an buy some Nikon or cannon DSLR several pounds monsters plus ... Show More

Great travel companion.
I bought this to avoid taking 30 pounds of DSLR & accessories on a trip to Turkey. Truely a prudent decision...only wish the panaramic mode saved to RAW instead of Jpeg. Nice if interface was as intuitive as Canon.

lens distortion
I all ready own the RX100 II, so I know how good this little baby should be. First problem is the integral lens cap won't reliably open fully, leaving blacked out corners on your shots. If you use your fingernail very carefully, you can get it open without a fingerprint on the lens, if you remember. I am sending this one back. Being an SLR guy, I bought the III because of the electronic view finder. Turns out I have adapted to the LED screen, and... Show More

Best Point and Shoot I've ever owned
I bought this for my partner and she can use it easily and without close up glasses. I'm also a professional photographer and I can use the RAW capabilities when I need to carry a lighter load. The lenses is superb as one would expect from Zeiss glass. The viewfinder is great, the flash works well, it feels solid, and looks great, but also is low key.

I would buy it again
Great in low light with out using flash and taking movies with no noise in the pic. It's light and fit's in a pocket.

Perfect compact camera
This camera is the best combination of pocketability and features out there. I was looking for a compact system camera with a high quality lens and this is it. I've used Micro Four Thirds and this approaches that level of dynamic range, noise and detail without sacrificing portability. The wifi connection to my iphone is very easy to use and makes sharing photos simple. I was most surprised by the low noise at ISO 3200, something that compact cam... Show More

Mixed feelings
Use the Cannon 5D full frame sensor and it has ruined me. All else looks bad. But it's big and expensive and not always with me. So I carried that or my iPhone. I LOVED MY iPhone. Until I didn't. Noticed that it wasn't that great in low light. Blur. No controls. It's great until you wish you had that shot that could have been good had the camera been a little nicer. So sort of on the hunt for something that'd fit in my small purse, could be a lit... Show More

Nice pictures but hardware issues
I just got the camera before Christmas and the images are beautiful. I will say that there are occasionally problems with focusing on the wrong area and lighting issues but otherwise the images themselves are great. However, seeing as how I have been using the camera for less than a month, and we have the case made for the camera, I am rather disappointed to report that the lens covering is already jamming every time I turn on the camera. This is... Show More

Very Good Camera
High quality camera. Excellent photos and HD videos. Sony menu system is easy to learn. I was able to figure everything out without reading the manual. Pop up EVF comes in handy on bright sunny days. Battery life is a little short so buy an extra battery and external battery charger. Excellent low light photos. I wish the camera had a bigger zoom such as 8X or 10X.

Excellent compact camera
Amazing picture quality in such a compact body, on par with my APS-C dslr with 24-70 lens. Low light performance is still not as good as DSLR or mirrorless cameras but it's expected. Enough for most of the night scene like streets, city view etc.The wifi sync to computer function needs more work... takes 3-5 minutes just to get started, really annoying. Wifi sync to phone/tablet, however, is blazing fast and easy to use. Battery life is about average. Got around 100 shots in real life with mixed EVF use. Need 1-2 back up batteries for daily hiking.

Great camera with no zoom
This is a great camera with one major flaw. First the flaw. The zoom is way too short. I'd read the reviews commenting on this, but thought it would not be a big problem. Mistake. It is. If I had to do it over again, with what I know now based on the experience of using the camera, I would not buy this camera. It has very little zoom range. Now the good stuff. This camera is a bit like having a digital SLR in a small camera body. It take great im... Show More

Fast sharp lens = very nice photos
Used at a wedding reception in low light and no flash - took great pictures. The tilting lcd is nice, but the pop-up view finder is better. Very little shutter lag (if any). Overall, a nice improvement over the first model, and a great pocket camera. I didn't like the premium case - made the camera a bit awkward - but does a great job protecting the camera and is of very high quality.

Great camera when my D800 is too big
This is a replacement for my Cannon G12. I need a high quality camera to put in my pocket when I don't feel like packing my large DLSR around. I take most of my pictures in Aperture mode in RAW, which this camera does very well. I always like to see what the camera will do in Auto mode. The G12 took the most fantastic pictures in Auto mode. The Sony does a nice job in Auto but it jumps the ISO so high you get quite a bit of noise in the pictures ... Show More

So far amazing!!!
I traded my first gen Fuji x-100 for this Sony. I got tired of working so hard to take really great photos. This one works like a point and shot and takes really great photos out of the bow. It's a little bit on the pricey end but so is all good photo equipment these days.

Tack sharp lens.... Love Zeiss optics...
I'm impressed with how well the metering adjusts both to truly low light and extreme backlighting. Plus the Zeiss lens is outstanding. I've been looking for a replacement to the Yashica T4 for years -- and this is an amazing compact camera, great diopter adjustment for the rangefinder, full range LCD viewer for low angle and overhead shooting. It will be very easy to keep this with me all the time. Really glad I bought the second battery.

Best Point and shoot. Period
While not usually an early innovator, I purchased the first generation of this camera. Coincidentally, I ran into a Sony rep that very week, and he showed me the shortcuts for clustering functions. The camera always leaves the house with me. Always. On big shoots, it is used for behind the scenes video.. The new, 3rd generation is a bit heavier, but the tilt out screen is worth it. Other writers have handled the faster lens vs shorter throw on th... Show More

Three things that make this camera nearl
In addition to the many features this camera has that have received high reviews, several things in particular make this camera perfect for me: -- Near-SLR picture quality from a small camera. When I take pictures with the Sony RX 100 III and review them later, I never say to myself, I wish I would have taken my SLR. I used to say that a lot when I'd take pictures with lesser point-and-shoot cameras. -- I love the fact that the camera collapses t... Show More
