I would recomend to anyone who is taking phone pics
My other cameras are a Pentax K50 for rain and an A6000 Sony for higher speed and features. This is the best carry around camera you can get for the $400-$500 price. Version 2-5 are great but you are talking up to $1000 for version V. If you need all the fancy stuff, good, if you just want a good sensor, this is it.

Love it!
Its small and lightweight. The auto focus is accurate and fast. The menus and button layout is well thought out. I suppose it could be a bit grippier in the front but its manageable.

Great quality and fun to use
I make my living shooting video and stills. I have always wanted something small that I could hike and travel with. Nice little camera!

Excellent camera would definetly purchase again
This is a great camera, It's compact and takes great pictures. My only regret is not spending more for the next generation after this one that has NFC capabilities. I brought it to a Green Bay Packer Game and was very happy with the results both photo and video. Scenic pictures turn out very nice.

Going strong after 4 1/2 years
I bought the original RX100 in the summer of 2012 when it was first released. I use my RX100 primarily for digiscoping birds but it took terrific, professional looking photos of my high school senior. For a compact camera this little guy is a GEM!

Surprisingly good quality images
Image quality surpassed expectations. Wanted a compact that could fit in my pocket and chose this one because of the larger (1) sensor. Well worth the extra money beyond most of the other compacts. All of the menus and features initially seemed overwhelming but they are pretty intuitive after only a couple of days of shooting. My main camera is a Nikon D610. Bought this to have on me when I don't feel like carrying a large camera. Very satisfied overall.

Welcome back
I have always carried a small camera even when hauling my bigger Canon. Of all the little cameras I qwned my favorite was the Contax T2. That Zeiss lens was so great! I missed it. Now with the DSC-RX100 its like getting an old friend back. The size is great, but the Zeiss lens and its speed is fabulous. What a great little camera.

Camera died in humidity
Bought this camera (DSC-RX100ii) to replace my Canon G12, but one and a half years into owning it, it died halfway through my trip to Bali, Indonesia. I'm told it was the humidity, but my colleagues' cameras worked just fine under the same conditions, so I am really disappointed with Sony. The camera has poor ergonomics, a confusing navigation system, and it's very difficult to take a decent handheld shot in lowlight. Definitely do NOT RECOMMEND you buy this camera.

Great P&S!
I got this to replace my father-in-law's old P&S. The large screen is great because now he doesn't have issues looking at the crisp image. Response is great, and most of all, we wanted a P&S that allowed for manual mode that we could adjust shutter speed, aperture & ISO independent from each other. Very happy with the features, and the compact size.

I wanted a small camera with a large sensor. I did some research and decided to buy the Sony RX100 and i am glad i did. There are four versions of this camera from model 1 to model 4. Great Point and Shoot
I purchased this camera to be a point and shoot, however it has a remarkable set of features, many of the features found on a full size DSLR. The high resolution and the ability to carry it in a pocket makes this a must backup for my DSLR.

Fantastic camera at bargain pricing.
Don't ignore the first generation DSC.Takes great pictures with Zeiss lens.Good point and shoot presets,as well as full adjustability of aperture and speed.Fast multishot capability.I was concerned about low light performance,versus backlit sensor,but the camera performed well under challenging lighting.Excellent color.All in a shirt-pocket sized camera.If you can do without a hot shoe, and are willing to forego the later DSC sensor improvements, this camera offers excellent performance, at a bargain price.

Happy with my purchase
I am still learning my way around this camera, but so far, I love it. It has fast shutter speed and great image quality. As someone who tends to use DSLR cameras like they were simple point and shoot models, this is perfect for me. I have sophisticated options but easy access to my favorite settings as well. Love it.

closest you will get to a dslr without actually buying a dsl
pros: -it has a good range of movie settings so not all videos have to be shot with the preset mode -good zoom -great quality -you are able to change lots of settings Cons: -although the popup screen goes away after a bit, lots of popups about memory card errors have shown even with a brand new memory card -when you blur out the background, the quality is astounding but the more you show unblurred, the worse the quality gets (although i would not consider this a a huge disadvantage because it depends on the lighting and the difference is not that huge)

Not Bad (and cheaper than the Hasselblad versio)
I was going to purchase the Hasselblad version, when I learned it was the same as this older Sony version (which cost less than half the heavily discounted price). I actually prefer the zoom length on this model than the newer ones. I find 28mm - 100mm much more useful for portraits and group shots. Amazing little camera !!!
All the hype about this camera is true ! It feels well built and sturdy in the hand. I was amazed at how clear and detailed the photos look ! The camera is small and easy to carry around. My only complaint, is it takes some time to figure out how to navigate through the cameras features. I've accidentally turned on features and off features. You've got to do some homework to learn all it's settings.

Sony RX100
Very compact with loads of features. Purchased to take along on hikes, bike rides and other outdoor activities. The large sensor, quality lens and all the positive reviews were all instrumental in my selection. Just a casual photographer, I wanted something that would function as a point and shoot with the ability to maybe try some creative photography in the future. Ergonomics are excellent for such a small camera. Menus are easily assessable and intuitive in nature.
